Book excerpt: This is a new format of The Orthodox Jewish Bible in daily readings for reading through the Tanakh and Brit Chadasha in one year. This version uses the Whole Chapter Bible in a Year© format. The dates are generic; if you start in the middle of the year, it just continues to the next numerical day, it does not rely on starting on January first. This daily version covers the Tanakh, Tehillim twice, Mishlei, (one a day), and the Brit Chadasha. The Besuras HaGeulah and Gevurot ARE read through twice, and a one a day chapters of Mishlei are adjusted according to the number of days in each month.

Book excerpt: Since the Brit Chadasha in Yirmeyeh 31:31-34 was given to Orthodox Jews (the passage is found in the Hebrew Bible, is it not?), and since most Orthodox Jews are in New York City, particularly Brooklyn it seems, then it surely must also be appropriate to make available a translation of the Brit Chadasha from the best original manuscripts in language devoid of goyishe (and non-frum) style. The following is a passage from this new translation, specifically from "The Besuras haGeulah According to Mattityahu (Matthew)" chp 28:19-20, and is illustrative of what we at AFII are doing and what we believe:

Book excerpt: THIRD EDITION--When the Apostle Paul, who refers to himself as a Hebrew of Hebrews, writes in 2 Timothy 3:16 that "Every Scripture is Yahweh-breathed", he is making a reference to the original Hebrew Scriptures commonly referred to by most Christians as the Old Testament. Those original inspired Hebrew Scriptures were primarily written in Hebrew with small portions written in Aramaic and included God's proper name, over 6000 times. The transliteration of God's proper name, known as the Tetragrammaton, is YHWH and by a majority consensus is pronounced Yahweh. Yahweh's name is used more than 1000 times in connection with the communication of His Word and over 600 times by the inspired writers of the Psalms. A reading of the Psalms, in any translation where the name Yahweh is used, will confirm the importance of "The Name" and an attitude that all who claim Yahweh as their God should demonstrate in their personal relationship and communication with Him. Since the new millennium began, there have been several Bible translations that have restored the name Yahweh to the Old Testament Scriptures. Leading the way in this new trend is the "World English Bible" first published in 1997 and last updated in September of 2016. Using the "World English Bible" as its translation foundation, "Yahweh's Word" has taken this trend one step farther and has also restored Yahweh's name to the New Testament. The New Testament often records Jesus and his apostles quoting from the Old Testament Scriptures. One can easily assume Jesus, the only begotten Son of Yahweh, would have quoted verbatim from the original Hebrew Scriptures. In "Yahweh's Word", Old Testament references and quotes found in the New Testament have been edited, where possible, to be more consistent with the Old Testament Scriptures. This, in turn, causes the name Yahweh to be read within the text of the New Testament in the same context as it appears in the Old Testament. In the Second Edition of "Yahweh's Word", the name Yahweh was restored an additional 1200 plus times in the New Testament. The proper name, Yahweh, replaces titles like "God" and "the Lord" as well as pronouns "he" and "his" when they are referring to Yahweh. The Orthodox Jewish Bible (OJB) was used as the primary resource for making this improvement. The Third Edition of "Yahweh's Word", has a greater emphasis placed on the "Way of Yahweh" which is sometimes referred to simply as "the Way". Matthew 3:1-3 refers to John the Baptizer as he who was spoken of by Isaiah the prophet, saying, "The voice of one who calls, Prepare the Way of Yahweh in the wilderness! Make a level highway in the desert for our God." In Acts 9:1-2, Paul was on his way to Damascus looking for any who were of the Way. Later, after his conversion, in Acts 24:14-15, Paul states, "But this I confess to you, that after the Way, . . . so, I serve the God of our fathers, . . . having a hope toward Yahweh, . . .." The reader of "Yahweh's Word" will see the connection between the Old Testament Scriptures and the New Testament Scriptures from a clear and more accurate perspective.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This work, the first of its kind, describes all the aspects of the Bible revolution in Jewish history in the last two hundred years, as well as the emergence of the new biblical culture. It describes the circumstances and processes that turned Holy Scripture into the Book of Books and into the history of the biblical period and of the people – the Jewish people. It deals with the encounter of the Jews with modern biblical criticism and the archaeological research of the Ancient Near East and with contemporary archaeology. The middle section discusses the extensive involvement of educated Jews in the Bible-Babel polemic at the start of the twentieth century, which it treats as a typological event. The last section describes at length various aspects of the key status assigned to the Bible in the new Jewish culture in Europe, and particularly in modern Jewish Palestine, as a “guide to life” in education, culture and politics, as well as part of the attempt to create a new Jewish man, and as a source of inspiration for various creative arts.

How is it possible that we still have the same Bible that was written over 3000 years ago? What happened to the Ten Lost tribes? Why is there no mention of the story of Esther in world history? Why is Judaism passed on only through the mother? Batya Shemesh was bothered by these questions and more. With Gods help she discovered that many of the answers were secretly hidden in the Bible and waiting to be discovered.

Book excerpt: The 19th century saw the rise of Biblical Criticism in German universities, culminating in Wellhausen's radical revision of the history of biblical times and religion. For German-Jewish intellectuals, the academic discipline promised emancipation from traditional Christian readings of Scripture - but at the same time suffered from what was perceived as anti-Jewish bias, this time in scholarly robes. "Reclaiming the Hebrew Bible" describes the German-Jewish strategies to cope with Biblical Criticism - varying from an enthusiastic welcome in the early decades, through modified adoption in Jewish Reform circles, to resolute rejection in the Orthodox camp. The study surveys the awareness and attitudes towards Biblical Criticism in the popular German-Jewish periodicals, and analyzes in depth the works of the first modern Jewish historian I. M. Jost (1793-1860), of the theologian S. L. Steinheim (1789-1866), and of the Reform activist Siegmund Maybaum (1844-1919).

Book excerpt: Although Jewish tradition gives tremendous importance to the Hebrew Bible, from the beginning Jewish interpretation of those scriptures has been practiced with remarkable freedom. Karin Hedner Zetterholm offers a clear and concise introduction to the legal, theological, and historical presuppositions that shaped the dominant stream of rabbinic interpretation, including Mishnah, Talmud, and Midrashim, discussing specific examples of different interpretive methods. She then explores the contours of Jewish biblical interpretation evident in the New Testament and the legacy of ancient traditions in the way different Jewish movements read the Bible today. Students of the history of biblical interpretation and of Judaism will find this an important and engaging resource.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a compilation of History, Science, and Scriptures. Multiple sources of history and science have been pulled together for great validity and accuracy of the information. For Bible accuracy of the First Five Books of Scripture referred to as the Torah, and the Pentateuch, multiple sources have also been utilized for a more complete assessment of Biblical events. Through many years of research and study, the books of Bereshis/Genesis, Shemot/Exodus, VaYikra/Leviticus, Bamidbar/Numbers, and Devarim/Deuteronomy, have been pulled together from the Authorized King James Bible; The Septuagint; The Book of Enoch; The Cabala Talmud; The Book of Yashar; The Orthodox Jewish Bible, and more. The stories in each of these books that discuss the same topics, all of those Scriptures have been brought together for greater clarity and overstanding of the story. In addition, all of the Scriptures from other parts of Scripture within each book that apply to the same topic, have all been compiled into the story. In pulling all of the parts together, the origin of sin is brought to the forefront of Biblical History. To fortify what is revealed in the Scriptures, Science, Paleontology, and Geology, are also incorporated to reinforce what the Scriptures tell us. Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) has proven that humanity is much older than seven thousand years In the Scriptural presentation of Creation itself, Science has proven that in the Seven Days of Creation, many eons have passed. Science by way of Carbon Testing tells us the Triassic Period: Mesozoic, Jurassic, and Cenozoic Periods occurred hundreds of thousands of years ago. History, Science, and Scripture together synchronize the chronology of the world, and of humanity. This book will be a great addition to your library.
