Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ‘Mindset- the epicenter: Who am "I"?’ is the second volume to his earlier work 'Mindset the epicenter'. This book interrogates why two persons, having the same mind, which is made up of the same atoms, tend to behave differently towards people around them when faced with similar circumstances. In fact, the question which led the author to pen this book was: what’s the true epicenter of everyone’s mind, including the trouble makers and the Samaritans? He dips into the vast reservoir of theosophical debates and anecdotes of great minds like Swami Vivekananda and Buddha to arrive at the crux of the discussion and establish the origins of human actions and perspectives. The author hopes that his patrons would find true and satisfactory answers to these age-old questions in this book.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many secrets of nature have been discovered since we have a better understanding of microstructures, for example subatomic spheres in physics and genetic structures in biochemistry. This book is set to convey an overview of the history, methods, findings and theoretical accounts of microgenetic research in consciousness and experimental psychology. The reader will find information about how conscious percepts unfold within only a fraction of a second. In a sense, and according to the microgenetic hypothesis, our subjectively experienced perceptual image undergoes formation similar to the process of developing a photograph. Yet the time scale of the awareness-related perceptual development is much finer and therefore accessible only to observation armed with special experimental procedures that are exposed in this book. In addition, the author presents empirical findings and theoretical interpretations from his own lab. Professor Talis Bachmann has been active in microgenetic research on attention, perception and consciousness for more than 25 years. (Series B)

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book tells a series of living stories about a domain of social activity, “the work and play of the mind,” in a particular historical epoch: the “information age.” The stories concern political processes and movements as varied as the World Trade Organization’s Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights, China’s Great Firewall, practices of image sharing in social media, Occupy Wall Street, The Arab Spring, The Alt-Right, and the use of geographical indications by indigenous peoples and farmers to defend their lifestyles. In its theoretical analysis, the book illuminates four alternative political agendas for the work and play of the mind. These four “propertyscapes” represent competing visions for social life, framing projects for collective political action that are at times competing, at times overlapping. The author prompts us to consider whose property is the work and play of the mind, as well as addressing larger questions regarding the framing of political space, the kinds of political communities we may need for the future, and the changing place of the work and play of the mind within these social imaginaries. The book will be of interest to students and scholars across a range of disciplines including media and communications, arts and design, law, politics and interdisciplinary social sciences.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We have found in our clinical practice that the victim mentality is truly a problem. Most people enter counselling describing themselves in a ‘stuck’ place, unknowingly having fallen into the realms of a victim mind-set. Whether it is by being in difficult and tumultuous relationships, or with a barrage of constant negative self-judgements, people unconsciously create complex layers of addictive patterns of behaviours through self-neglect, substance abuse, eating too much, erratic spending, loving too much, or caring too much, and even shaming and humiliating others and self. Ultimately to survive you can unconsciously fool yourself into believing that you are ‘dealing with it’. As people, our main strategy is survival, our default is to run away from feeling the emotional pain and instead, if left untreated you create dysfunctional protective layers of behaviours and delude yourself into believing you ‘feel better’. The addictive nature of rationalisation, intellectualisation along with denial places a dent in your personal values that reinforces negative messages into your mind, and which further embeds limiting beliefs about you, your relationships and your reality. Just as importantly, this book is not targeted to any person who has suffered a real-life event which has left them being a genuine victim of circumstance. Any of us can fall victim to a real-life event or become a victim of circumstance. Being caught up in a predicament where we had no control over what happened, and nothing we did or failed to do made things happen the way they did, is deeply affecting and disturbing that can eventually be experienced as traumatic. Being a survivor means ‘to take action’ by moving through the ordeal, the pain, the grief and loss in a holistic approach encompassing the mind and body. If not, you can find yourself unknowingly moving into a Victim Life Position and further becoming accustomed to staying in denial, trapped and engaging in self-destructive coping behaviour. If you do not heal through a mind-heart coherence, by embracing the unification of wisdom of mind and heart of compassion, your victim mentality becomes programmed and embedded as your personality and eventually establishes into an identity, where you can no longer recognise its origins. You can end up beating yourself up and ruining valuable relationships. You become a complainer and blamer and can forget ever having made a choice to live this way.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is the result of my attempts at exploring, realizing, and unleashing the potential of the mind that is enigmatic to science. Changes or transformations that the mind can bring about on physical and mental plane and personal, professional, and social life is elaborated in the light of knowledge from personal experience. Extended further it unveils a spiritual path. This transforming power is bestowed upon us by meditation. Meditation is not controlling the mind and not concentrating on the mind either, but exactly the opposite to that. It is a process of unlearning what is learned and stored in the subconscious mind for eons. So long we reel under the influence of the subconscious mind life feels as though it is fate that decides what life can be. Meditation releases us from the clutches of the subconscious mind. It is a process that brings the subconscious mind in gradations to the conscious level, giving reigns of life to our hands completely, bailing us out from the notion of fate or predestination

Book excerpt: No road through life is exactly the same: some paths are lined with cobblestones and flowers, some are rough roads, some are seemingly endless tunnels. These roads make up the paths that we have to traverse at some point on our journey; and although the walk may not be at all pleasant or easy, we pick up something vital along the way and take it with us as we move along. In Mind Vapor: From Pen to Paper, Karen Killen Alexander shares her personal journey through life’s ups and downs, the memories she made, and the lessons she learned as she deals with hardships and challenges and while recognizing to be grateful for the smallest of blessings.
