As we consider His words, we understand and identify with His suffering in a way that challenges us, transforms us, and ultimately brings us hope. Whether used as part of The Crucified Life small group study series or individually, this Daily Devotional will help you hear Jesus' words from the cross in a personal and life changing way. This devotional can best be used in conjunction with the unique small group curriculum the Christian Life Trilogy. This first series in the trilogy, The Crucified Life, centers on a DVD teaching exploring the Seven Last Words spoken by Christ on the cross. There are seven teaching sessions, one for each word spoken by Christ. As you walk through the curriculum with a small group or Sunday School class, you will have the opportunity to hear in-depth Biblical teaching and openly discuss the teaching in your group. Together, you'll observe a holy Lent as you study and delve deeply into God's Word. You'll also strengthen the bonds of community as you grow together, allowing your lives to be transformed by what you discover. For more information search online for Christian Life Trilogy.

We long to know there is a God - and, yes, a community - who is big enough to accept us for who we are and loving enough not to leave us that way. Imagine how our relationships and witness would change if Christians everywhere began to live in a more authentic manner. Throughout the Bible, we find heroes of the faith who lived with daring, messy honesty before God and others--their example is worth emulating. Honest to God is a practical and riveting study of biblical honesty. Follow next generation author, Josh Weidmann, as he takes the reader on a journey toward true Christian authenticity. Both biblical and contemporary examples will give you practical principles and tools for self-examination that will lead to the freedom and transformation that come only through honesty.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When He came to earth, Jesus Christ was rejected in every quarter in which He stepped. The Creator was rejected by His own creation. “He came to His own and His own received Him not,” said John. For this reason, Jesus Christ had “no where to lay His head.” There was one exception, however. A little village just outside of Jerusalem named Bethany. Bethany was the only place on earth where Jesus was completely received. God’s Favorite Place on Earth is a retelling of Jesus’ many visits to Bethany and a relaying of the message it holds for us today. Frank Viola presents a beautifully crafted narrative from the viewpoint of Lazarus, one of the people who lived in Bethany with his two sisters. This incomparable story not only brings the Gospel narratives to life, but it addresses the struggle against doubt, discouragement, fear, guilt, rejection, and spiritual apathy that challenges countless Christians today. In profoundly moving prose, God’s Favorite Place on Earth will captivate your heart with its beauty, charm, and depth. In this book you will discover how to live as a “Bethany” in our world today, being set free to love and follow Jesus like never before.

If you are, then prepare yourself for an incredible, life-changing experience. Change is difficult, but it's made even harder without practical guidance on how to do it. You will find that guidance in Lord, Change Me. James MacDonald is serious about the business of change according to God's Word. While many tell us that we should change and be more like Christ, MacDonald actually teaches us how to do it. Lord, Change Me is split into three sections as the model for approaching change: The Preparation for Change: choosing the right method and partnering with God to select the areas in need of change in your life. The Process of Change: exploring the biblical method of saying 'no' to sinful patterns and 'yes' to the things God desires for you. The Power to Change: explaining how to experience the power of God personally and continuously. This is a book about a different you. There are no warm fuzzies within these pages. Rather, MacDonald is a direct, to-the-point pastor with a heart for seeing lives completely transformed by the truth of the Gospel. If you're serious about changing your life, this book is just what you need.

Book excerpt: Enjoy these SAMPLE pages from The Post-Church Christian- A Baby Boomer and a Millennial... a father and a son... a conversation about the church... a misunderstanding waiting to happen... right? Drawing on experience in missions, pastoral work, and higher education-Moody Bible Institute president, Paul Nyquist, and his son, Carson Nyquist, will lead us on an honest, thoughtful, and dangerous expedition toward The Disconnect. That space, often filled with awkward silences and clenched jaws, that exists between the two largest generations in our world today. The differences are myriad. Millennials value: Raw reality. Authenticity. A missional focus. Questioning everything. Community living. Contentment with ambiguity-both scripturally and morally. Boomers value: Doctrinal purity and clarity. Traditional values. Consumerism. Corporate Ladder Climbing. Bigger is Better. Evangelism of the Lost. Classic lines of authority. Rather than judging each other on the culture we come from-this book will open a dialogue between generations that will have a great effect on churches, ministries, businesses, and families. Both generations will be heard-but will both listen?

Book excerpt: How do we walk with Christ—daily follow him, grow in him, and faithfully serve him? In the Gospels, Jesus modeled for us the Christian spiritual life. The apostles taught it in their writings. And the Church has, through the last 2,000 years, sought to pursue this Christian spiritual life. In The Walk, Adam Hamilton focuses on five essential spiritual practices that are rooted in Jesus’ own walk with God and taught throughout the New Testament. Each of these practices is intended as part of our daily walk with Christ while also being an essential part of growing together in the church. In each chapter, Hamilton explores one of these practices, its New Testament foundation, and what it looks like to pursue this practice daily in our personal life and together in the life of the church. Deepen your walk with Christ as we explore the five essential practices of worship, study, serving, giving, and bearing witness to our faith. Additional components for a six-week adult study include a comprehensive Leader Guide and a DVD featuring the engaging teachings of author and pastor Adam Hamilton. Also available are resources for children and youth.

This book was released on 2005-01-25 with total page 358 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In innumerable discussions and activities dedicated to better understanding and helping teenagers, one aspect of teenage life is curiously overlooked. Very few such efforts pay serious attention to the role of religion and spirituality in the lives of American adolescents. But many teenagers are very involved in religion. Surveys reveal that 35% attend religious services weekly and another 15% attend at least monthly. 60% say that religious faith is important in their lives. 40% report that they pray daily. 25% say that they have been "born again." Teenagers feel good about the congregations they belong to. Some say that faith provides them with guidance and resources for knowing how to live well. What is going on in the religious and spiritual lives of American teenagers? What do they actually believe? What religious practices do they engage in? Do they expect to remain loyal to the faith of their parents? Or are they abandoning traditional religious institutions in search of a new, more authentic "spirituality"? This book attempts to answer these and related questions as definitively as possible. It reports the findings of The National Study of Youth and Religion, the largest and most detailed such study ever undertaken. The NYSR conducted a nationwide telephone survey of teens and significant caregivers, as well as nearly 300 in-depth face-to-face interviews with a sample of the population that was surveyed. The results show that religion and spirituality are indeed very significant in the lives of many American teenagers. Among many other discoveries, they find that teenagers are far more influenced by the religious beliefs and practices of their parents and caregivers than commonly thought. They refute the conventional wisdom that teens are "spiritual but not religious." And they confirm that greater religiosity is significantly associated with more positive adolescent life outcomes. This eagerly-awaited volume not only provides an unprecedented understanding of adolescent religion and spirituality but, because teenagers serve as bellwethers for possible future trends, it affords an important and distinctive window through which to observe and assess the current state and future direction of American religion as a whole.
