Book Synopsis Contemporary Issues in Early Childhood Education in Germany by : Wilfried Smidt
Download or read book Contemporary Issues in Early Childhood Education in Germany written by Wilfried Smidt and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-07-26 with total page 285 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The importance of early childhood education has been emphasized by a large body of research that has demonstrated that children’s cognitive and socio-emotional development is significantly influenced by the quality of the education and care received from their families and in preschool. Consequently, it is important to investigate factors that pertain to the provision of a high-quality education and high-quality care for young children. This book addresses several important issues that are currently under discussion with respect to this topic. In particular, the book focuses on three topics presently under debate: the professionalization of pedagogues working in the field of early childhood education; the quality of education and care provided by families and preschools; and the promotion of children from socio-economically disadvantaged families. Providing an excellent overview of current research in Germany, this book will be useful to readers who are interested in international perspectives on early childhood education and who want to gain insight into relevant topics discussed in other countries. This book was originally published as a special issue of Early Child Development and Care.

Download or read book Der Kita-Kollaps written by Ilse Wehrmann and published by Verlag Herder GmbH. This book was released on 2023-08-14 with total page 185 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis Policy and Practice Challenges for Equality in Education by : Neimann, Theresa
Download or read book Policy and Practice Challenges for Equality in Education written by Neimann, Theresa and published by IGI Global. This book was released on 2021-09-10 with total page 351 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Well-educated populations are important aspects of any contemporary society, as education increases national and global development and the positive expansion of communities to participate actively in civil matters also increases. Educational equality is based on the principles of administrative competence and fairness of access and distribution of resources, opportunities, and treatment, which ensures success for every person. Ensuring equal access to quality education requires addressing a wide range of persistent inequalities in society and includes a stronger focus on how different forms of inequalities intersect to produce unequal opportunities or outcomes that affect marginalized and vulnerable groups. Policy and Practice Challenges for Equality in Education takes a multifaceted look at issues of equality and inequality in education as related to policy, practice, resource access, and distribution. As such, this book explores the potential practices in education that serve to mitigate and transform unproductive practices which have left societies scarred by social and educational inequalities. The chapters provide a critical analysis of the manifestations of inequalities in various educational contexts and discerns how broader social inequalities are informed by education-related matters. This book is ideal for sociologists, administrators, instructors, policymakers, data scientists, community leaders, practitioners, stakeholders, researchers, academicians, and students interested in educational equality and the unique challenges being faced worldwide.
Book Synopsis Teacher–Child Interactions in Early Childhood Education and Care Classrooms by : Wilfried Smidt
Download or read book Teacher–Child Interactions in Early Childhood Education and Care Classrooms written by Wilfried Smidt and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2020-06-29 with total page 127 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How children’s development is shaped by Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) classrooms and especially by teacher–child interactions in those settings is a major issue in research and politics, which has been researched for several decades. This book investigates this important topic by raising three overarching questions: (1) What are ‘good’ teacher–child interactions and how they can be measured? (2) Which individual and/or contextual aspects are associated with teacher–child interactions? (3) What is the impact of teacher–child interactions on the development of children's competencies? The book ties in these fundamental questions with educational research by bringing together international studies from interdisciplinary backgrounds and presenting current research on the characteristics, predictivity, dependency, and methodological issues of teacher–child interactions in ECEC classrooms. The considered studies conducted in Australia, Austria, Finland, Germany, Greece and Portugal each aim to enrich the scientific discourse and provide fruitful implications for policy and practice. This book was originally published as a special issue of the Research Papers in Education journal.

Book Synopsis Postwar History Education in Japan and the Germanys by : Julian Dierkes
Download or read book Postwar History Education in Japan and the Germanys written by Julian Dierkes and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2010-12-14 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How did East and West Germany and Japan reconstitute national identity after World War II? Did all three experience parallel reactions to national trauma and reconstruction? History education shaped how these nations reconceived their national identities. Because the content of history education was controlled by different actors, history education materials framed national identity in very different ways. In Japan, where the curriculum was controlled by bureaucrats bent on maintaining their purported neutrality, materials focused on the empirical building blocks of history (who? where? what?) at the expense of discussions of historical responsibility. In East Germany, where party cadres controlled the curriculum, students were taught that World War II was a capitalist aberration. In (West) Germany, where teachers controlled the curriculum, students were taught the lessons of shame and then regeneration after historians turned away from grand national narratives. This book shows that constructions of national identity are not easily malleable on the basis of moral and political concerns only, but that they are subject to institutional constraints and opportunities. In an age when post-conflict reconstruction and reconciliation has become a major focus of international policies, the analysis offers important implications for the parallel revision of portrayals of national history and the institutional reconstruction of policy-making regimes.
