Book excerpt: This book draws on Durer's letters and journals written in the course of two journeys that did much to acquaint him with the artistic developments of his time. It comprises two parts: the first is a rich selection of letters written by Durer to his close friend Wilibad Pirkheimer in 1506, during his stay in Venice. These letters shed much light on Durer's exposure to the ideals and techniques of Italian Renaissance art, particularly the work of Giovanni Bellini. The second part consists of Durer's record of his travels to the low countries in 1520-21, where he met Matthias Grunewald and saw the works of Jan and Hubert van Eyck, Rogier van dew Weyden, Hugo van der Goes and other artists, as well as the Michelangelo Madonna.

They reveal Diirer as one of the distinctively modern men of the Renaissance intensely, but not arrogantly, conscious of his own personality; accepting with a pleasant ease the universal admiration of his genius, - a personal. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Albrecht Durer's (1471-1528) travels across Europe in the early Renaissance led to a fascinating interchange of ideas with his fellow artists, both northern and southern. This book explores Durer's extensive influence on his contemporaries and his sources of inspiration, bringing together paintings, drawings, sculptures, glass, and prints by artists he may have encountered along the way. It also examines the complex development of Durer's own status as an artist entrepreneur and innovator in artistic theory.0 Durer's journal records his pursuit of commissions and details his visits to Italy, Antwerp, Cologne, Brussels, Ghent, and Bruges. During this time he produced a trove of landscapes, portraits, and animal drawings, and studies for larger projects, such as the painting of Saint Jerome that would become his most copied work. Durer's travels informed some of his most exciting and engaging works, and their visual legacy extended far beyond his lifetime and throughout the continent.00Exhibition: The National Gallery, London, UK(06.03.?13.06.2021) / Suermondt-Ludwig Museum, Aachen, Germany (18.07.-24.10.2021).

This book was released on 2013-03-09 with total page 379 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What is truth? This fascinating spectrum of studies into the various rationalities of our human dealings with life - psychological, aesthetic, economic, spiritual - reveals their joints and calls for a new approach to truth. Putting both classical and contemporary conceptions aside, we find the primogenital ground of truth in the networks of correspondences, adequations, relevancies, and rationales at work in life's becoming. Does this plurivocal differentiation mean that the status of truth is relative? On the contrary, submits Anna-Teresa Tymieniecka, given the universal significance of the crucial instrument of the logos of life, "truth is the vortex of life's ontopoietic unfolding".
