Book excerpt: Dear Cherry 1 whole year since I moved! Can you believe it? I still remember everything about you and I look at your photo every day. I know our pact has ended but I love writing to you Cherry so I think we should continue with it and see how long we can go! It's so weird to think I've been in Norwich a whole year and this time last year I'd never met Alfred, never met Zara or Susie or Annie. But it's just... so much has happened and... I can't wait to find out what happens next. For both of us, so I'm going to continue, even though the promise is over, and I hope you will too. Sooooooooooo much love, Kittyxx

Book excerpt: Each day I prayed for my husband to love me again. After fifteen years together, he walked away from me, and into the arms of another.I didn't know how to cope. I didn't know my worth. I didn't know how to exist without him by my side. All I wanted was for him to come back to me.Then, Jackson Emery appeared. He was supposed to be a distraction for my mind. A summer fling. A confidence boost to my bruised heart. We were perfect for one another, because we both knew we wouldn't last. Jackson didn't believe in commitment, and I no longer believed in love. He was too closed-off for me, and I was too damaged for him.Everything was fine, until one night my heart skipped a beat.I didn't expect him to make me laugh. To make me think. To make my sadness somewhat disappear. When our time was up, my heart didn't know how to walk away. Each day I prayed for my husband to love me again, yet slowly my prayers began to shift toward the man who wasn't right for me. I prayed for one more smile, one more kiss, one more laugh, one more touch... I prayed for him to be mine.Even though I knew his heart wasn't destined to love.
Download or read book Deadtown written by Ran Cartwright and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2018-09-13 with total page 400 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Deadtown in the '50s. It's one helluva place. You know the kind. If ever there was a slimy misty wet cesspool of a dive on the dark side of forever, the far wrong dark side of the wrong dark side of the tracks, yeah, that's Deadtown. The seediest slimiest sleaziest hellhole slime pit this side of Purgatory. It's a greasy place, dark and dank, with a misty fog that alternates with a misty rain. It never stops. Never. Buildings teeter on the verge of collapse, catering to the dark slimy seedy sleazy side of life with restaurants and bars and nightclubs and whore houses and drug dens. Beyond lay the hinterlands where misshapen horrors chew on the unsuspecting and spit out flesh and bone. Deadtown isn't a town actually, it's a city. Not much of a city, but it's a city. Occasionally you'll find a special nutcase lurking in the side streets and misty wet alleys. The Sleeper was one such special nutcase. Some would say that he was in a class all by himself. They would probably be right...

Download or read book Lick Me written by Cherry Vanilla and published by Chicago Review Press. This book was released on 2010-11-01 with total page 305 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Steeped in sex, drugs, and rock 'n' roll, Lick Me takes the reader on a juicy journey through the life and times of the infamous Cherry Vanilla. A wunderkind on Madison Avenue in the swinging sixties, Cherry soon found fame as a DJ in clubs in Manhattan and on the French Riviera. She starred in Andy Warhol's play Pork in London while gaining notoriety as a groupie, sleeping with musicians ranging from Leon Russell to Kris Kristofferson. Working as David Bowie's PR lady (and occasional lover), she played a major part in introducing him to the U.S. market. She was on the front lines when punk broke, one of the few successful women in the genre; her backing band was the Police, and she released two insouciant albums on RCA. Cherry's memoir takes us on a journey from the birth of rock to the explosion of punk, exploring every aspect of the music industry during its most electrifying era, with memorable detours through the sexual revolution, the women's liberation movement, and the theater of the ridiculous. But Cherry's life wasn't all excitement and high times. From unwanted pregnancies to poverty and public ridicule, Lick Me also takes us through Cherry's own problems, including sex addiction and OCD, and reveals how she dealt with them. Lick Me reveals the thrilling life of a woman who pulled herself up from humble beginnings and fearlessly lived her dreams.
Book Synopsis Discography of Western Swing and Hot String Bands, 1928-1942 by : Cary Ginell
Download or read book Discography of Western Swing and Hot String Bands, 1928-1942 written by Cary Ginell and published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA. This book was released on 2001-06-30 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The result of years of research by its authors, this discography strives to identify and trace the recorded development of the musical style now known as western swing from its early years through World War II. The style developed from the Texas string band tradition, growing from a fiddle and guitar duo into full swing band groups, and along the way, it drew from and absorbed a variety of other musical styles, thus making it one of the most diverse genres in American music. Until now, studies have been limited to a few book-length biographies, but through exhaustive research and interviews, Ginell and Coffey have provided the most complete and comprehensive listing of pre-War western swing and hot string band recordings to date. Accessible through a variety of indexes, the information included here comprises four sections. The reader can easily find cross-referenced information on which musicians played with which bands on which songs. Easy-to-follow linear and chronological development of the music is provided as well.
