Book Synopsis Artificial intelligence and human rights. by : Rubén Miranda Gonçalves
Download or read book Artificial intelligence and human rights. written by Rubén Miranda Gonçalves and published by Dykinson. This book was released on 2021-12-14 with total page 489 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We are publishing this book as the result of a research project carried out by the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in Spain and AFM Krakow University in Poland. Some parts of it were already announced during a scientific Conference organised remotely in Kraków in October 2020. It is now time to present the research findings in writing. The issue of Artificial Intelligence has long raised questions and interests, including those of legal science. A number of problems have not yet been widely analysed, despite the fact that the present time is undoubtedly a time of technological challenges. Therefore, in the presented publication, prepared by the international scientific community, under our scientific guidance, the authors try to analyse the areas which, in their opinion and in our opinion, required such analysis. The leitmotif of our scientific work was human rights and their relationship with Artificial Intelligence. In presenting the research results in this book, we realise that a number of issues still need to be clarified. Nevertheless, we hope that the work presented for the reader’s consideration will constitute an interesting voice in the discussion, a point of reference for all those dealing with the legal issues of new technologies and the protection of human rights. As the presented book is a collective work, the authors essentially present their own views. The whole work has been designed to address a broad spectrum of issues in Artificial Intelligence and human rights in a single collection. We are convinced that such a broad view will allow everyone interested in the discussed issues to see the essence of contemporary problems faced by the science of law in a multinational perspective. We encourage everyone to read the book!Laura Miraut MartínMariusz Zalucki

Book Synopsis Design and Implementation of an AC to DC Matrix Converter with High-Frequency Isolation and Power Factor Correction (for Particle Accelerator Applications) by : Rafael Garcia Gil
Download or read book Design and Implementation of an AC to DC Matrix Converter with High-Frequency Isolation and Power Factor Correction (for Particle Accelerator Applications) written by Rafael Garcia Gil and published by Universal-Publishers. This book was released on 2005-11-05 with total page 282 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This thesis (written in Spanish) presents the analysis, design and implementation of a four-quadrant power supply with high-frequency isolation, which is expected to be used to feed the low-energy correction magnet of a particle accelerator. In particle accelerator applications the magnetic field during beam acceleration may be either positive or negative, and true bipolar power converters are needed. The selected bipolar topology consists of a bidirectional three-phase to single-phase reduced matrix converter (RMC) with power factor correction and a bidirectional active rectifier. Main features of this power converter are the ability to regenerate energy back to the utility when the magnet acts as generator, unity power factor at the mains and reduction of volume and weight thanks to the inclusion of the isolation transformer at the switching frequency. A space vector modulation (SVM) technique was used to achieve unity power factor at the input and output current regulation simultaneously. This was done while a symmetrical pure AC profile is generated at the primary side of the isolation transformer. The secondary AC signal is then rectified into a positive or negative voltage, according to the desired output current sign, and later filtered to obtain the output DC current in both polarities. The active rectifier used permits reverse current flow to the primary side when driving an inductive load. By synchronising the commutation of both converters and adding a saturable inductor and a blocking capacitor it is possible to achieve soft commutation for most of the semiconductor elements. An all-digital control based on a Digital-Signal-Processor (DSP) and a Field-Programmed-Gate-Array (FPGA) was used to implement space vector modulation and output current regulation. Output current regulation is performed on a powerful 32-bit fixed-point DSP of Motorola, and was implemented by means of an observer based optimum state feedback control (LQR -- Linear Quadratic Regulator). A reduced order observer was implemented to estimate the output filter inductor current, reducing the number of sensors. Experimental results of a 1.5 kW, 20 kHz prototype are presented to illustrate the performance of the proposed topology.

Book Synopsis Handbook of Research on Artificial Intelligence in Government Practices and Processes by : Saura, Jose Ramon

This book was released on 2022-03-18 with total page 410 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In today’s global culture where the internet has established itself as a main tool of communication, the global system of economy and regulations, as well as data and decisions based on data analysis, have become essential for public actors and institutions. Governments need to be updated and use the latest technologies to understand what society’s demands are, and user behavioral data, which can be pulled by intelligent applications, can offer tremendous insights into this. The Handbook of Research on Artificial Intelligence in Government Practices and Processes identifies definitional perspectives of behavioral data science and what its use by governments means for automation, predictability, and risks to privacy and free decision making in society. Many governments can train their algorithms to work with machine learning, leading to the capacity to interfere in the behavior of society and potentially achieve a change in societal behavior without society itself even being aware of it. As such, the use of artificial intelligence by governments has raised concerns about privacy and personal security issues. Covering topics such as digital democracy, data extraction techniques, and political communications, this book is an essential resource for data analysts, politicians, journalists, public figures, executives, researchers, data specialists, communication specialists, digital marketers, and academicians.
