The Council uses Jude's Clock-matching invention to force "new-and-improved" Clocks on the public. Those who can't afford one are packed into boxcars like cattle and used for the Council's purposes. Parvin and Hawke find themselves on a cargo ship of Radicals headed out to sea. What will the Council do to them? And why are people suddenly dying before their Clocks have zeroed-out?

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Few skills are as critical or as rare today as the ability to hear and comprehend what other people are saying. The authors of' Hands Down, Speak Out' argue that we need new tools to teach the art of listening and they' ve put forward a simple yet transformative model for encouraging student conversations that are inclusive, empowering, and rich in content. This classroom guide for grades K-5 is particularly needed in the aftermath of two disrupted school years.' ' Teaching Foundational Skills Across Subjects:' Hands Down, Speak Out' is a practical guide for teaching listening and talking skills that span both literacy and math instruction and can be applied to a multitude of curriculums. K-5 Classroom Management Focused on Dialogue: Too often, the practice of hand-raising favors the performance of answers by a few students over the construction of meaning involving the whole class. Help' all' students develop dialogue skills that will deepen their understanding of literacy and mathematics, as well as of themselves, their communities, and the world. 28 Student-Centered Micro Lessons: Each of these short, incremental lessons build specific skills during content instruction rather than taking time away from it. Students will be energized by a discourse structure in which their ideas and voices take the lead while teachers focus on listening and facilitating. Nurturing Disagreements: The authors' provide guidance for managing difficult conversations by teaching students to engage in debate and discussion in a way that values listening equally with talking. Students are able to spend time developing active listening and speaking skills in a constructive environment. When we build talk communities with children, our greatest hope is that what they learn through talking about reading, writing, and math is matched by what they learn about living in the world with others, write Kassia Omohundro Wedekind and Christy Hermann Thompson.' Hands Down, Speak Out' demonstrates how teachers and leaders can run inclusive and accessible classrooms that respect each student' s level of participation.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Word To The Reader...... This Book is “for the Birds.” It is their answer to the Lion King and the watery search for the fish named Nemo. Birds collect a lot of history since they fly all over the world. They are not restricted to the land as the Lion King nor the Fish limited to the water. They collect information written on the walls of dark caves by the mouse disguised as a Bird, the Bat, they collect nautical information from Sea Gulls, and they have been known to extract information from the toughest person by squeezing it from him/her when hung around his/her neck as an Albatross. If there are any grammatical errors in this Book, they are due to the strict one-to-one translation of the information the Author collected from the traditional chirping Birds and those who talk, squawk and quack such as Parrots, Crows and Ducks. Also, errors may have occurred when the Birds gathered information written in “Ebonics” and that information was translated by the Secretary Bird into “Ebirdnics," the universal language of the Birds. Draft versions of this Book have existed at various times, and the Covers of those draft versions have been included in this Book.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Hebrew name of God in the holy writings is El Shaddai. “El” means “God Creator” and “Shaddai” means “Almighty.” El Shaddai is the name of God. Although we read other names given to God in the Old Testament, none of those names are the true name of God. Names such as Lord, Yahweh, and Jehovah were never spoken or pronounced in Israel in the entire Old Testament as their god. Before the Kingdom of Judah fell, El Shaddai warns the Judeans that their false prophets have changed his name with Baal, which is the same name as Lord. “And it shall be at that day,” says El Shaddai, “that you shall call Me Ishi (my beloved) and shall call Me no more Baali (my lord). For I will take away the names of the Baalim (lords) gods out of their mouth and they shall no more be mentioned by their name.”

This book was released on 2014-02-19 with total page 229 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As American soldiers fought overseas in Vietnam, American churchmen debated the legitimacy and impact of the war at home. While the justness of the war was the primary issue, they also argued over conscientious objection, the legitimacy of protests, the weapons of war, and other related topics. Divided into three primary groups—mainline, conservative evangelical, and African American—and including fourteen denominations, this book uses the churchmen’s publications and proceedings to better understand how American religion responded to and was impacted by the Vietnam War. In the various debates, churchmen brought their theological convictions and reading of the Bible to bear on their political perspectives. Convictions about sin, the nature of man, the fate of the world, violence and benevolence had direct impact upon the foreign policy perspectives of these churches. Rather than result in static political positions, these convictions adapted as the nature of the war and the likelihood of American success changed over time. The positions taken by American denominations brought about attitudes of support, opposition, and ambivalence toward the war, but also impacted the vibrancy of many churches. Some groups were rent asunder by the fractious, debilitating debate. Other churches, due to their greater ideological clarity and unanimity, saw the war provide an impetus for growth. Regardless of the individual consequences, the debate over the Vietnam War provides a concrete study of the intersection of religion and politics.
