Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Christians generally recognize the need to live a holy, or sanctified, life. But they differ on what sanctification is and how it is achieved. How does one achieve sanctification in this life? How much success in sanctification is possible? Is a crisis experience following one's conversion normal--or necessary? If so, what kind of experience, and how is it verified? Five Views on Sanctification--part of the Counterpoints series--brings together in one easy-to-understand volume five major Protestant views on sanctification: Wesleyan View – represented by Melvin E. Dieter Reformed View – represented by Anthony A. Hoekema Pentecostal View – represented by Stanley M. Horton Keswick View – represented by J. Robertson McQuilkin Augustinian-Dispensationalism View – represented by John F. Walvoord Writing from a solid evangelical stance, each author describes and defends his own understanding of the doctrine sanctification and then responds to the views of the other authors. The Counterpoints series presents a comparison and critique of scholarly views on topics important to Christians that are both fair-minded and respectful of the biblical text. Each volume is a one-stop reference that allows readers to evaluate the different positions on a specific issue and form their own, educated opinion.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We are to take to heart our personal holiness simply because we have been saved to do so. The process of sanctification is essentially a three fold work: First, sanctification is the cleansing of the soul from sin. Second, sanctification brings us to full stature in Christ. Third, sanctification separates us to the Lord for His purposes. There will be, in practicality, varying degrees of thoroughness relative to the riddance of sin versus growth in Christ-like stature because of the varying degrees of human cooperation with the Holy Spirit or lack thereof. Still, sanctification is the active work of the Spirit though such a calling may appear passive, even absent, due to the lack of knowledge, the slothfulness and the rebellion of the saint. It is these three that best represent much of our present religious atmosphere. Where there is lack of knowledge [about sanctification] there has to be indolence, laziness and rebellion in the form of indifference about personal holiness. And rebellion is a very strong word that should not be used without qualification by the one making the charge or taken lightly by the one addressed. To use the word with its' passive counterpart in this case, indifference, is to bring an indictment against a sizeable portion of the body of Christ. Life is about sin, death then hell. Or life is about God, Christ and responding to the Holy Spirit. To grasp the continual need of sanctification one has to know who the real enemy is in order to receive real relief by sanctification. The real enemy is within. We are self deceived, whose roots of deception are affixed to Satan, Adam and the fall; in that order, eventuating in our fallen nature, in desperate need of God's provisions. And thankfully God has supplied us with every provision through the process of sanctification. Marc presently lives in Orlando Florida where he pastors Blessed Fellowship Orlando, an outreach ministry of Orlando Prayer and Worship Center, Senior Pastor Roy Futch.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Our America is one where many Christians do not live life like Christ nor do they read the Bible. The average American Christian is not engaged in service and gives less to the cause of Christ than they do for their entertainment. As part of the church, we need to be walking like Christ and encouraging others. Testing and Temptations will guide you through living for Christ in the midst of trials in your life. We all experience many trials that can be either tests or temptations, but little regard is ever given to what these words mean. Have you ever thought about the concepts behind testing and temptations or what role they may play in your life? While listening in on a sermon and constantly hearing the pastor fumble over test and tempt, the concept behind the book Testing and Temptations was born. In this book, we will examine the differences between tests and temptations and examine four key principles of Testing and Temptations: The Source of the Trial The Method the Trial Works in Us Where the Trial Leads Us The Intention behind the Trial Once we understand how Testing and Temptations are applied in our lives, we will be in a key position to understand how we can leverage our trials in order to grow closer to Christ. Thomas Murosky outlines simple steps to grow closer to God and live a more holy life, dedicated to the service of God.

Book excerpt: This history of the origins and development of Christian denominations is in laymans language. Readers will not become bogged down in technical or archaic terms. Begin by reading about the Christian groups, denominations, that developed in the time between Jesus crucifixion and the formal origins of the Roman Catholic and Orthodox churches. Learn how the Roman empire came to accept Christianity as its religion, of the cooperation and struggles between the Roman Catholic and Orthodox churches and how that led to their separation. Read about how the Black Death, the Crusades, the struggles within the Roman Catholic Church led some church leaders, such as Martin Luther, to attempt to reform the church, and how those attempts led to The Reformation. That opened the door to England declaring that the Church of England, the Anglican Church is the true Christian church. John Calvin laid the ground work for what became the Presbyterian and the Reformed churches. Then came the Huguenots and the Walloons, and the Puritan-Pilgrims who came to America and evolved into such as the Congregationalists. Back in England the Quakers experienced persecution that encouraged them to move to America. John Wesley began what evolved into Methodism. The American Revolution caused American churches of English origin to separate from their English roots and to become such as the Episcopalians and the Methodists. Read about the history of the many denominations that have come into being in The United States. There are the numerous Christian churches, the Unitarians, Spiritualist churches, Mormons, Adventists, Jehovahs Witnesses, Christian Science, Pentecostalism and many independent non-denominational churches. It is fascinating history, and all in laymans language.

America is struggling economically and no one has any answers. Unemployment has been over 9% for over two years now. It feels like the government is trying to take control of our lives. There is speculation that Greece might collapse economically, and, if they do, other European countries will follow suit. The Middle East is in total chaos and very unstable, with all these people rioting in the streets and wreaking havoc on their respective countries, along with dictators falling and rising from power. Iran is still telling everyone they are intent on annihilating Israel as they improve their nuclear capabilities. As Christians, our hope is in Jesus Christ; we know that our God is sovereign, so all the chaos in the world has no effect on how God brings the world to an end. But the end is in sight, and people are looking for something certain in this world. There are so many questions Christians have regarding End Times Prophecy and do not understand, simply because the church has not fulfilled its purpose in rightly dividing the Word of truth for the saints. The Complete Layman's Guide to End Times Prophecy will bring together all the questions one might have regarding the end of the world and the return of the Warrior King Jesus Christ to this earth to set up His millennial kingdom. This book is clear, concise, and cogent in its message and attempts to address all End Times Prophecy questions. Each chapter will be written by a prominent person from within each tradition—with specific guidelines dealing with the biblical, historical, and theological issues within each tradition. In addition, each writer will have the opportunity to give a brief response to the other traditions.
