Book excerpt: The Catholic Church still takes an ambivalent stance toward homosexuality, declaring that homosexuals should be respected and not discriminated against while morally condemning their intimate relationships. This volume presents exegetical, theological, and ethical arguments as well as evidence from the human sciences to advocate for the recognition of homosexuality as a natural variant of the human capacities to love and to form relationships.

Book excerpt: "Don't be so judgmental!" "Why are Christians so intolerant?" "Why can't we just coexist?" In an age in which preference has replaced morality, many people find it difficult to speak the truth, afraid of the reactions they will receive if they say something is right or wrong. Using engaging stories and personal experience, Edward Sri helps us understand the classical view of morality and equips us to engage relativism, appealing to both the head and the heart. Learn how Catholic morality is all about love, why making a judgment is not judging a person's soul, and why, in the words of Pope Francis, "relativism wounds people." Topics include: • Real Freedom, Real Love • Sharing truth with compassion • Why "I disagree" doesn't mean "I hate you"

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Love and Lies Do Not Mix is an interesting and intriguing book about Love and Emotions. It will show readers how Love can make a person do many things that others never imagined. When love is attached to the mind and when the heart becomes involve, life can change in an instant. When emotions are involved with the mind, anything is possible. Sometimes, emotion can work fine and other times emotions can unravel everything that Love has put together. This book is collection of my thoughts. Some from life experiences and other thoughts from folks who has experienced the good side of love and the bad side of love as well. It will also show that there is more happiness in real and faithful love than love in general. My poem “a mixture of love “ will capitulate all my thoughts.

Book excerpt: Experience the morning homilies of Pope Francis and witness how he continues to change the life of the Catholic Church. Shortly after seven in the morning, Pope Francis gives a brief homily in the little Vatican chapel of Saint Martha, in front of an audience that is always different: gardeners, office workers, nuns and priests, as well as a growing group of journalists. It is a set appointment, and in some ways a revolutionary innovation, where a pope speaks to everyone, off the cuff, without any written text, as he would have done as a parish priest. Encountering Truth is a collection of highlights from these homilies from March 2013 to May 2014. Along with summaries by Radio Vaticana (who recorded and transcribed the homilies) and commentary by Father Antonio Spadaro, SJ, these reflections provide moments of inspiration, simplicity, and a glimpse into the papal world very few ever get to experience.

Poem Chapters: Heroes, History & Me, Faith, Patterns, Blues & Country, Days of Music, Occupation, Relationships, Nature & Places, Appalachian Trail, The Dark Side, Love, Nonsense. Sample Poems: Godda be Like God, United States of Paradox, Prince of Peace, Cabernet Sauvignon, The Hominoid that Got Lucky, Catoctin to Katahdin, Love is a Four Letter Verb, Mathematical Love, Don't Let my Willie, Why do Men have Nipples? Poetry and music are like Laurel and Hardy, a sharp razor and a hairy back. They can survive on their own but do much better with the other one makin' sure they come back for more. Some people like to smoke cigars in the free lane. I like to smoke and inhale Mark Twain. Everythin' comes down to one, but what is the one, is it the Son or a one-celled paramecium? Could God have created a common duality to test our partiality and unsettled sensuality? Let down your right guard and think about that one real hard.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Season for Writing Poetry Is A MUST READ! The purpose of publishing these poems is to memorialize the legacy of our mother, Millie B. Davis, through her poetry. Another reason for publishing the poems is to share the knowledge, wisdom and faith of our mother with her posterity, family, friends, neighbors, the world and you. In the Bible, when the Israelites had crossed over the Jordan River, God instructed them to go back into the River and retrieve 12 stones to be set up as a memorial. The memorial would symbolize how God enabled them to cross over the River on dry ground (Joshua 4:21-23a). This book represents one of those stones! We had the luxury of sitting under Momma’s wisdom for years and now want to share it with you. We’re hoping that these poems bring you as much joy and inspiration as they have done for us for so many years. The blessings of the Lord be upon you. (Psalm 129:8)

Book excerpt: With enthusiasm in music, drama, reading classic literature, and being a journalism student and school newspaper reporter, I started my interest in writing poetry. But as always, life gets in the way, and I didn’t get truly started till the mid to late 1990s. In 2019, I began again, including a section of short stories. My poetry consists of godly influencers, loneliness with a cynical emphasis, and philosophical writings with a sardonic twist. Thank you for the look-see. Enjoy and God bless one an all.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The New York Times Bestseller - Revised and Expanded "[An] earth-shaking exposé of clerical corruption" - National Catholic Reporter The arrival of Frédéric Martel's In the Closet of the Vatican, published worldwide in eight languages, sent shockwaves through the religious and secular world. The book's revelations of clericalism, hypocrisy, cover-ups and widespread homosexuality in the highest echelons of the Vatican provoked questions that the most senior Vatican officials--and the Pope himself--were forced to act upon; it would go on to become a New York Times bestseller. Now, almost a year after the book's first publication, Frédéric Martel reflects in a new foreword on the effect the book has had and the events that have come to light since it was first released. In the Closet of the Vatican describes the double lives of priests--including the cardinals living with their young "assistants" in luxurious apartments whilst professing humility and chastity--the cover-up of numerous cases of sexual abuse; sinister scheming in the Vatican; political conspiracy overseas in Argentina and Chile, and the resignation of Benedict XVI. From his unique position as a respected journalist with uninhibited access to some of the Vatican's most influential people and private spaces, Martel presents a shattering account of a system rotten to its very core.

Book excerpt: Its called Homegrown because thats what each of us are when we pull away all of the camouflagethe weeds. Like the unforgettable burning taste of hot moonshine or that cooling draught of country-iced water, the wild bittersweet juiciness of blackberries, and the sweet tartness of homegrown peaches both canned in an old-fashioned Mason jar, its who I am. Im a country girl whos been homegrown from seeds of love that were planted inside of me and sealed above by my Heavenly Father. Like harvested and cultivated fruit that you cant pick up just anywhere because theyre grown for a special purpose, so am I. They were His seeds that were planted inside of me before thoughts of me were even conceived in the mind of my parents. His purpose for me existed before I did. His seeds of purpose exist despite the weeds of self-abuse and childhood molestation. Those seeds were resistant to those same weeds because our Heavenly Father knew beforehand what was needed in the seed to make those shoots strong enough to survive. And now I know Hes counting on me to allow Him to nurture and prune them into the trees of prosperity and purpose for others to feed and feast upon. To manifest finally into the forest of faith Hes anointed and called me to be. I know God wants me to be a witness of His grace and goodness for the entire world to see. I am His forest of love, offering forgiveness and hope and giving emotional and physical release to millions of men and women who have been hiding behind their prideand their pain.

Book excerpt: Key Words of Pope Francis is a collection of over 50 essays by an impressive set of insightful contributors from around the globe, each writing on a specific word that has become important in the ministry of Pope Francis. Writers such as Fr Timothy Radcliffe, Archbishop Justin Welby, Sr Simone Campbell, Cardinal Blase Cupich, Cardinal Óscar Rodríguez Maradiaga, Fr James Martin, Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle and Carolyn Woo explore the Pope's use of words like joy, clericalism, field hospital, money, family and tears. Together, they reveal what Francis's use of these words says about him, his ministry and priorities, and their significance to the church, the world, and the lives of individual Christians. The entire collection is introduced by a foreword by Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, the spiritual leader of Orthodox Christians worldwide, and a preface by one of Francis's closest advisers, Cardinal Seán O'Malley. This is no set of encyclopaedia entries. It is instead a reflective, inspiring, and often heartfelt book that offers engaging answers to the question 'What is this surprising Pope up to?'
