Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book was inspired by Ginos avid interest in science fiction from a very early age. He has a firm belief in the existence of extraterrestrial life. The two main characters from his earlier book, The Secret at St. Marys, are reunited in this story. They are transformed into their alter egos who take us on a journey of goodwill and intrigue in sectors of the universe yet unchartered. In this book, we experience the thrill of travelling to strange new worlds and meeting aliens that are like nothing ever before encountered. There are the Sebemos of the planet Xulud. They have a body that looks like rough stone and are shaped like a long macaroni noodle. There are six spindly-like tentacles around their bodies, and they have a face that resembles a computer chip. Their leader is Gray Munchkin. There are the Gubeiggas of the planet Esile. They are almost like humans, but with pointy heads and wings. They are quite good-looking. Their leader is Queen Becca. There are the Cyclopzorgs of the planet Ocat, who want to change the way the Sebemos and the Gubeiggas live. They have bodies that are half-bear and half-giraffe. There are the Brainoids of the planet Barbabeetle, who are very wise and want to help Omsoc and Etnorb. This race looks like beautiful sunflowers, with faces that have some humanlike characteristics. Their leader is Onigiul. The immortal, wise one is Aznagarb. There is also the aspiration of new hope for peace and harmony among those who seek this. Our two travelers achieve what seems to be the impossible, against all odds and great danger to themselves.

Book Synopsis The Island of Knowledge by : Marcelo Gleiser
Download or read book The Island of Knowledge written by Marcelo Gleiser and published by Basic Books. This book was released on 2014-06-03 with total page 366 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Do all questions have answers? How much can we know about the world? Is there such a thing as an ultimate truth? To be human is to want to know, but what we are able to observe is only a tiny portion of what's "out there." In The Island of Knowledge, physicist Marcelo Gleiser traces our search for answers to the most fundamental questions of existence. In so doing, he reaches a provocative conclusion: science, the main tool we use to find answers, is fundamentally limited. These limits to our knowledge arise both from our tools of exploration and from the nature of physical reality: the speed of light, the uncertainty principle, the impossibility of seeing beyond the cosmic horizon, the incompleteness theorem, and our own limitations as an intelligent species. Recognizing limits in this way, Gleiser argues, is not a deterrent to progress or a surrendering to religion. Rather, it frees us to question the meaning and nature of the universe while affirming the central role of life and ourselves in it. Science can and must go on, but recognizing its limits reveals its true mission: to know the universe is to know ourselves. Telling the dramatic story of our quest for understanding, The Island of Knowledge offers a highly original exploration of the ideas of some of the greatest thinkers in history, from Plato to Einstein, and how they affect us today. An authoritative, broad-ranging intellectual history of our search for knowledge and meaning, The Island of Knowledge is a unique view of what it means to be human in a universe filled with mystery.

It was and forever will be any-day, it was and is our day; and will one-day – oneway or another –be yours too. It was a day when the morning clock struck in an a-second from December 7th, 1941 to September 11th, 2001; that before it turned our hour, that was seen as as the minute hand struck July 28th, 1941. When the Easter Lilies had already bloomed, and the Daisies were dancing; witnessed in their terpsichorean of not knowing how the wind would make them tremble in their spirited balletic. It was a day when even Flander’s Field was seen alive and lively active, with fragrance of Stars in the air shouting forget me not."
