Book excerpt: Written for courses in Principles of Marketing at four-year and two-year colleges, this shorter overview aims to help students master the basic principles and practices of modern marketing in an enjoyable and practical way. Its coverage balances upon three essential pillars - (1) theory and concepts; (2) practices and applications; and (3) pedagogy - cultivating an efficient, effective teaching and learning environment. This sixth edition provides revised content throughout, and reflects the major trends and forces that are impacting marketing in this new, connected millennium. It includes new thinking and expanded coverage on a wide variety of topics, for example: relationship marketing; connecting technologies; the company value chain; value-delivery networks; and global marketing.
Download or read book The Whole Island written by Mark Weiss and published by Univ of California Press. This book was released on 2009-11-25 with total page 622 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Cuba's cultural influence throughout the Western Hemisphere, and especially in the United States, has been disproportionally large for so small a country. This landmark volume is the first comprehensive overview of poetry written over the past sixty years. Presented in a beautiful Spanish-English en face edition, The Whole Island makes available the astonishing achievement of a wide range of Cuban poets, including such well-known figures as Nicolás Guillén, José Lezama Lima, and Nancy Morejón, but also poets widely read in Spanish who remain almost unknown to the English-speaking world—among them Fina García Marruz, José Kozer, Raúl Hernández Novás, and Ángel Escobar—and poets born since the Revolution, like Rogelio Saunders, Omar Pérez, Alessandra Molina, and Javier Marimón. The translations, almost all of them new, convey the intensity and beauty of the accompanying Spanish originals. With their work deeply rooted in Cuban culture, many of these poets—both on and off the island—have been at the center of the political and social changes of this tempestuous period. The poems offered here constitute an essential source for understanding the literature and culture of Cuba, its diaspora, and the Caribbean at large, and provide an unparalleled perspective on what it means to be Cuban.
Book Synopsis The Contemporáneos Group by : Salvador A. Oropesa
Download or read book The Contemporáneos Group written by Salvador A. Oropesa and published by University of Texas Press. This book was released on 2003-05-01 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the years following the Mexican Revolution, a nationalist and masculinist image of Mexico emerged through the novels of the Revolution, the murals of Diego Rivera, and the movies of Golden Age cinema. Challenging this image were the Contemporneos, a group of writers whose status as outsiders (sophisticated urbanites, gay men, women) gave them not just a different perspective, but a different gaze, a new way of viewing the diverse Mexicos that exist within Mexican society. In this book, Salvador Oropesa offers original readings of the works of five Contemporneos—Salvador Novo, Xavier Villaurrutia, Agustn Lazo, Guadalupe Marn, and Jorge Cuesta—and their efforts to create a Mexican literature that was international, attuned to the realities of modern Mexico, and flexible enough to speak to the masses as well as the elites. Oropesa discusses Novo and Villaurrutia in relation to neo-baroque literature and satiric poetry, showing how these inherently subversive genres provided the means of expressing difference and otherness that they needed as gay men. He explores the theatrical works of Lazo, Villaurrutia's partner, who offered new representations of the closet and of Mexican history from an emerging middle-class viewpoint. Oropesa also looks at women's participation in the Contemporneos through Guadalupe Marn, the sometime wife of Diego Rivera and Jorge Cuesta, whose novels present women's struggles to have a view and a voice of their own. He concludes the book with Novo's self-transformation from intellectual into celebrity, which fulfilled the Contemporneos' desire to merge high and popular culture and create a space where those on the margins could move to the center.

Book Synopsis Sacroeconomía by : Charles Eisenstein
Download or read book Sacroeconomía written by Charles Eisenstein and published by North Atlantic Books. This book was released on 2015-04-14 with total page 577 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis New Era in Banking by : Angel Berges
Download or read book New Era in Banking written by Angel Berges and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-10-21 with total page 183 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The financial crisis that began in 2007 triggered a break with banking practices of the past. Even as the crisis occurred, a broader set of economic, geopolitical, and technological forces were already reshaping the financial industry's transition from the twentieth to the twenty-first century. While these changes in the financial and global climate have led to a major overhaul of banking regulations and increased scrutiny of banks, they have also revealed opportunities for the development of a banking sector fit for the future. A New Era in Banking: The Landscape After the Battle identifies the main drivers of change at the heart of this wholesale transformation of the financial services industry. It examines the complex challenge for financial institutions to de-risk business models, reconnect with customers, and approach stakeholder value creation. Untangling the severe mutations that have taken place in the banking sector, A New Era in Banking, contextualizes these changes within larger trends that extend beyond the confines of the financial crisis. Banks are more vulnerable than ever to the crosscurrents of economic, demographic, regulatory, and technological change. However, by discussing how banks can operate as flexible, technology-enabled information businesses, A New Era in Banking advocates financial practices based not only on survival, but innovation.

Book Synopsis Percepciones Originales by : Alcides Vidal
Download or read book Percepciones Originales written by Alcides Vidal and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2008-09-18 with total page 219 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis ¿Quo Vadis, Universidad? by : Esteban Bara, Francisco
Download or read book ¿Quo Vadis, Universidad? written by Esteban Bara, Francisco and published by Editorial UOC. This book was released on 2016-12-26 with total page 244 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
