Book Synopsis CRC Handbook of Lubrication and Tribology, Volume III by : E. Richard Booser
Download or read book CRC Handbook of Lubrication and Tribology, Volume III written by E. Richard Booser and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1993-12-21 with total page 642 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Volume III extends this handbook series to cover new developments and topics in tribology that have occurred during the past decade. It includes in-depth discussions on revolutionary magnetic bearings used in demanding applications in compressors, high-speed spindles, and aerospace equipment. Extensive coverage is given to tribology developments in office machines and in magnetic storage systems for computers. Monitoring sensors are addressed in the first chapter, followed by chapters on specific monitoring techniques for automobiles, diesels, and rotating machines. One chapter is devoted to procedures used for tracking the remaining life of lubricants. Synthetic lubricants are discussed by outstanding specialists in this rapidly developing field. Synthetics are increasingly important in widely diverse areas, including compressors using the new ozone-layer-friendly refrigerants and a variety of extreme-temperature and environmentally-sensitive applications. Water- and gas-lubricated bearings are given similar attention. The contributors also develop a new, unified coverage for fatigue life of ball and roller bearings; for design and application of porous metal bearings; for self-contained lubrication, involving oil rings, disks, and wicks; and for plastic bearings. Each of these classes of bearings are used by the millions daily throughout industry. The three-volume handbook is an essential reference to tribologists and lubrication, mechanical, and automotive engineers. It is invaluable to lubricant suppliers; bearing companies; those working in the aerospace industry; and anyone concerned with machine design, machinery wear, and maintenance.

Book Synopsis Modeling and simulation of porous journal bearings in multibody systems by : Buuren, Sietze van
Download or read book Modeling and simulation of porous journal bearings in multibody systems written by Buuren, Sietze van and published by KIT Scientific Publishing. This book was released on 2014-07-30 with total page 182 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A specific cost-efficient type of plain journal bearing is the porous journal bearing, which possesses a pervious bush that serves as a lubricant reservoir. The current work is concerned with modeling porous journal bearings in multibody systems, for which dynamical models are needed to investigate the bearing's behavior. Such porous journal bearing models as well as models of elementary rotor-bearing systems including these, were developed and investigated during the course for this work.

Book Synopsis Hydrodynamic Theory of the Lubrication of Porous Bearings by : B. I. Byalyi
Download or read book Hydrodynamic Theory of the Lubrication of Porous Bearings written by B. I. Byalyi and published by . This book was released on 1969 with total page 13 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A method is proposed for the analysis of porous metal-ceramic bearings of finite length using an approximate boundary condition to relate the velocity and pressure differential on the lubricant layer-bearing interface in the form of Darcy's law. Determination of the pressure distribution function in the lubricant layer is resolved to the joint solution of a Reynolds equation containing a term to take into account the porosity of the bearing and a Laplace equation describing the pressure distribution within the body of the bearing itself. Numerical values for the nondimensional bearing capacity are assigned.
