Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The mafia don of all organized crime in the USA has been sent to prison. The organization is in turmoil across the nation, and bosses in different cities are acting on their own. The young Turks want to take over the organization, and the Columbian, Jamaican, and Russian mobs are moving into the mafia business, and there is no one among them to lead. There is a meeting at Mulberry Street, birthplace of the American mafia. There was confusion in the meeting until Tony from Chicago mentioned the name of Tony Defeo. There was silence in the room, and they agreed he was the man; but where was he? Joe Pagano answered and let them know he was alive and he can contact him, but they must all agree they will back him 100 percent if he returns, no going back. They all agreed he was the man to restore the power of the mafia again In the USA, because he was born to be the mafia don of the USA. Now began the greatest chess game that Tony had played in his life. Just like in chess, you have to anticipate your opponents every move, and the minimum is six. So Tony must anticipate the moves of the young Turks in their rebellion, as well as the Columbian, Jamaican, and the Russian mobs, because they will not let go what they have without a fight, just like he will fight to get back what belongs to them. But last but not least to Tony, there is the FBI, who have been wanting to know where he has been for the last twenty-five years; but that is the least of his worries.

Book excerpt: The “post-classic” era of American gangster films began in 1967 with the release of Bonnie and Clyde, achieving a milestone five years later with the popular and highly influential The Godfather. This historical study explores the structure, myths and intertextual narratives found in the gangster films produced since The Godfather. The intense relationship between masculinity and ethnicity in the gangster film, especially within the movie-generated mythology of the Mafia, is carefully analyzed, and the book tracks the trends in the genre up to and including the landmark HBO television series The Sopranos (1999–2007). A selected filmography is included. Instructors considering this book for use in a course may request an examination copy here.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Police, the press, and the public all see the kind of violence that besets the inner city today as irrational and basically about turf, revenge, or drugs. Renowned criminologist and expert on gangs, John Hagedorn here tells a very different and little-known story centered on the dramatic rise and fall of a Mafia-like Latino organization in Chicago called Spanish Growth & Development.” Hagedorn's main informant is Sal Martino,' an Italian Mafioso who became intimately involved with the In$ane Family,” one of the factions of Spanish Growth & Development. Through Sal's first-hand account, Hagedorn shows that the violence was not a result of disorganized crime” but rather the outcome of SGD's prolonged demise. He gives us for the first time a detailed the history of SGDthe reasons for its creation, the uneasy alliances between gang families, the organization's reliance on bottom-up police corruption, and its ultimate collapse in a pool of blood at a 1999 peace” conference. Revealing the hidden and riveting stories of Chicago gangs' efforts to build structures ostensibly to reduce violence and to organize crime, of the integration of gang and mafia history, and of the central role of police corruption in Chicago's gangland,The In$ane Chicago Way makes a powerful argument for the need to regard corruption as the bedrock of gang power. It dispels the notion that gang violence can be explained solely by ecological, neighborhood-based processes and sheds light on the current gang situation in Chicago by laying bare its history while raising disturbing questions for researchers, policy-makers, and the public.

Book excerpt: It has been called the most dangerous gang in American history. In Los Angeles alone it is responsible for over 100 homicides per year. Although it has fewer than 300 members, it controls a 40,000-strong street army that is eager to advance its agenda. It waves the flag of the Black Hand and its business is murder. Although known on the streets for over fifty years, the Mexican Mafia has flown under the radar of public awareness and has flourished beneath a deep cover of secrecy. Members are forbidden even to acknowledge its existence. For the first time in its history, the Mexican Mafia is now getting the attention it has been striving to avoid. In this briskly written and thoroughly researched book, Tony Rafael looks at the birth and the blood-soaked growth of this criminal enterprise through the eyes of the victims, the dropouts, the cops and DAs on the front lines of the war against the Mexican Mafia. The first book ever published on the subject, Southern Soldiers is a pioneering work that unveils the operations of this California prison gang and describes how it grew from a small clique of inmates into a transnational criminal organization. As the first prison gang ever to project its power beyond prison walls, the Mexican Mafia controls virtually every Hispanic neighborhood in Southern California and is rapidly expanding its influence into the entire Southwest, across the East Coast, and even into Canada. Riding a wave of unchecked immigration and seemingly beyond the reach of law enforcement, the Mexican Mafia is poised to become the Cosa Nostra of twenty-first-century America.

This book was released on 2023-05-10 with total page 314 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In "The Pathway Towards Peace: U.S. Human Rights Manifesto," Jánelle Marina Méndez Viera exposes the American billionaire patriarchy's strategic takeover of democracy and delves into the intersection of two social scientific theories regarding racism thought to be conflicting and synthesizes both concepts into her theory of psychosocial racism and sexism. Through her own experiences as a child-sex slave in the U.S. Marine Corps and through her work leading the Military Sexual Trauma Movement, Méndez Viera as a human rights executive and movement leader, she shines a light on the dark side of the tourism industry and American exports, by relocating to the Dominican Republic to investigate the experiences of enslaved Haitians. She connects modern slavery in the Caribbean to the radicalization of boys and men in the U.S. military and the role mass communication plays in their indoctrination. This powerful manifesto is a compelling account of one woman's resistance and fight for the abolition of modern slavery in the Western Hemisphere. Jánelle Marina Méndez Viera not only exposes the threat to democracy and the junction of racism and sexism in American society, but she also predicts the January 6th Insurrection six weeks before it occurs. On November 11th, 2020, in a speech in Washington D.C. at a press conference she organized called, "Fight for our Freedom", she warns of a looming national security issue involving veterans and Marines. Through her development of the radicalization pipeline model, Méndez Viera is able to accurately predict and assess risks in order protect herself from violent attacks on her life. Méndez Viera uses her extensive knowledge and expertise to guide and educate Americans on how to defend democracy and create lasting peace. Her theory of psychosocial racism, sexism and misogyny posits that these systemic issues are psychological delusions that evolve into social constructs when mass media creates propaganda on behalf of billionaire patriarchy. Loyal audiences usually made up of male involuntary celibates are intentionally recruited on to the radicalization pipeline through google queries that respond to self-help questions such as “how do I get girls to like me or how do I attract women?” The manosphere then places bids on google searches and returns dating gurus like Andrew Tate who indoctrinate men and teen boys through mid-level radicalization by showing them misogynistic content that externalizes their insecurities to make these men and boys hate women and minorities. They become defenders of patriarchy and fight against feminism, civil rights and social justice through coordinated online harassment, threats, physical violence and domestic terrorism. Méndez Viera lays out how to spot the red flags early on and discusses what society can do to create peace and minimize the recruitment into the radicalization pipeline. Méndez Viera analyses the illicit sex markets in the Western Hemisphere compared to legalized and regulated markets around the world. She investigates sexual violence, slavery and prostitution in the Caribbean and its ties to chattel slavery while discussing legalized and regulated markets in Nevada and the Netherlands that have higher levels of protection, safety and workers' rights. These areas have been able to reduce child sexual slavery through the regulated sex markets. Méndez Viera discusses the combining regulation, legalization and psychological therapy for involuntary celibate males can be a powerful tool for preventing recruitment into the radicalization pipeline and thus preventing gender violence, mass violence, modern slavery and domestic terrorism in the United States of America.

Book excerpt: Mafia Summit is the true story of how a small-town lawman in upstate New York busted a Cosa Nostra conference in 1957, exposing the Mafia to America In a small village in upstate New York, mob bosses from all over the country—Vito Genovese, Carlo Gambino, Joe Bonanno, Joe Profaci, Cuba boss Santo Trafficante, and future Gambino boss Paul Castellano—were nabbed by Sergeant Edgar D. Croswell as they gathered to sort out a bloody war of succession. For years, FBI director J. Edgar Hoover had adamantly denied the existence of the Mafia, but young Robert Kennedy immediately recognized the shattering importance of the Appalachian summit. As attorney general when his brother JFK became president, Bobby embarked on a campaign to break the spine of the mob, engaging in a furious turf battle with the powerful Hoover. Detailing mob killings, the early days of the heroin trade, and the crusade to loosen the hold of organized crime, fans of Gus Russo and Luc Sante will find themselves captured by this momentous story. Reavill scintillatingly recounts the beginning of the end for the Mafia in America and how it began with a good man in the right place at the right time.
