Book excerpt: IN 1942, AN EXPERIMENT TO MAKE A NAVY SHIP MAGNETICALLY INVISIBLE, TURNED INTO A SOUL-SHATTERING NIGHTMARE THAT BREACHED THE VERY WALLS OF TIME AND SPACE! In This New, Updated Edition, Based on The Philadelphia Experiment Chronicles, The Story of a Highly Classified - ABOVE TOP SECRET - Project Conducted By The U.S. Navy, Can Now Be Told! According to survivor accounts, the Philadelphia Experiment involved the teleportation of the U.S.S. Eldridge a mega-ton Destroyer Escort from its dry dock in the Philadelphia Naval Yard to Norfolk, Virginia - a distance of around 400 miles. During at least part of the time, the Eldridge was "missing" from the City of Brotherly Love, the destroyer was said to have been transported into another dimension. Upon its return, most of the vessel's hand-picked test crew - all of whom had been left totally unprepared and unprotected - either "caught on fire," became literally frozen into the hull of the ship, went stark, raving mad, or vanished, never to be seen again. Much has been written on the subject, but this is the only account as told by the retired intelligence operative Commander X who reveals the story of Dr. M.K. Jessup who discovered the incredible truth about the Philadelphia Experiment. Commander X also reveals the story of Alfred Bielek, who claimed to be one of only two survivors of the unholy experiments that breached the very fabric of time and space. The late Alfred Bielek revealed the further destruction of innocent lives with the Phoenix Project that developed methods of teleportation, as well as mind manipulation and altering the very flow of time itself!

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The Ghost of the Philadelphia Experiment Returns" was the last book published by legendary ufologist Gray Barker. At the time (1984), it was considered too "conspiratorial," and met with opposition in mainstream ufological circles. After compiling the book from articles in his own newsletter, Barker suddenly died, and the controversial bound edition was pulled from distribution. Luckily, New Saucerian was able to locate the prototype, and has made this wonderful work available - at last - for the general public to enjoy. In these pages, Barker deftly explores the lore of the Philadelphia Experiment, offering revelations on a variety of notorious characters, such as Carlos Allende, James Wolfe, Leon A. Seoul, Dr. Franklin Reno, Michael Ann Dunn, the Oppenheimer brothers, and William L. Moore, whose books on the Roswell UFO crash, the Bermuda Triangle, and the Philadelphia Experiment made him the highest grossing UFO author of all time. Barker also shares interesting material from researchers Morris K. Jessup, James Moseley, Dennis Pilichis, Charles Berlitz, and Anna Genzlinger, the Miami housewife who was led by Jessup's ghost to investigate his death, and who uncovered several fascinating tidbits not only about his possible murder, but also about the CIA's role in covert mind control experimentation. This special 2014 edition of "Ghost of the Philadelphia Experiment Returns" features several photos, an introduction by paranormal radio host Jeffery Pritchett, and an epilogue by the editor, Andy Colvin, whose father was stationed at the naval yard where the Philadelphia Experiment took place. "Describes fundamentally incomprehensible situations in an entertaining, comprehensible context..." -Eugenia Macer-Story "Required reading for contemporary students of the UFO enigma..." -James W. Moseley "A legend that cannot be stopped..." -Jacques Vallee

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Based on the biographies of some three hundred people in each city, this book shows how such distinguished Boston families as the Adamses, Cabots, Lowells, and Peabodys have produced many generations of men and women who have made major contributions to the intellectual, educational, and political life of their state and nation. At the same time, comparable Philadelphia families such as the Biddles, Cadwaladers, Ingersolls, and Drexels have contributed far fewer leaders to their state and nation. From the days of Benjamin Franklin and Stephen Girard down to the present, what leadership there has been in Philadelphia has largely been provided by self-made men, often, like Franklin, born outside Pennsylvania.Baltzell traces the differences in class authority and leadership in these two cites to the contrasting values of the Puritan founders of the Bay Colony and the Quaker founders of the City of Brotherly Love. While Puritans placed great value on the calling or devotion to one's chosen vocation, Quakers have always placed more emphasis on being a good person than on being a good judge or statesman. Puritan Boston and Quaker Philadelphia presents a provocative view of two contrasting upper classes and also reflects the author's larger concern with the conflicting values of hierarchy and egalitarianism in American history.

Book excerpt: For over a generation, shocking cases of censorship at America’s colleges and universities have taught students the wrong lessons about living in a free society. Drawing on a decade of experience battling for freedom of speech on campus, First Amendment lawyer Greg Lukianoff reveals how higher education fails to teach students to become critical thinkers: by stifling open debate, our campuses are supercharging ideological divisions, promoting groupthink, and encouraging an unscholarly certainty about complex issues. Lukianoff walks readers through the life of a modern-day college student, from orientation to the end of freshman year. Through this lens, he describes startling violations of free speech rights: a student in Indiana punished for publicly reading a book, a student in Georgia expelled for a pro-environment collage he posted on Facebook, students at Yale banned from putting an F. Scott Fitzgerald quote on a T shirt, and students across the country corralled into tiny “free speech zones” when they wanted to express their views. But Lukianoff goes further, demonstrating how this culture of censorship is bleeding into the larger society. As he explores public controversies involving Juan Williams, Rush Limbaugh, Bill Maher, Richard Dawkins, Larry Summers—even Dave Barry and Jon Stewart—Lukianoff paints a stark picture of our ability as a nation to discuss important issues rationally. Unlearning Liberty: Campus Censorship and the End of American Debate illuminates how intolerance for dissent and debate on today’s campus threatens the freedom of every citizen and makes us all just a little bit dumber.

Book excerpt: William Penn's life was, at its core, a search for peace. This study concentrates attention on his greatest effort to secure true peace for all--his undertaking to populate and cultivate the region of North America granted him by the English Crown in March 1681. Penn intended that Pennsylvania should be a haven for seekers of religious freedom and liberty of conscience, especially those who, for the sake of faith and principle, had suffered property forfeiture or bodily imprisonment during the persecutions of the English Civil War, Commonwealth, Protectorate, and Restoration. In commenting on how he had acquired Pennsylvania and what ends it might serve, Penn wrote to William Harrison: For my country, [I eyed] the Lord in the obtaining of it; and more was I drawn inward to look to Him, and to o[we it] to His hand and power, than to any ot[her way]. I have so obtained it and desire that I may not be unworthy of His love, but do that which may answer yet His kind providence and serve His Truth and people; that an example may be set up to the nations. There may be room there, though not here, for such a holy experiment This book traces the historical progress of the foremost themes of the holy experiment from 1681, when Penn wrote the above letter to Harrison. These themes were most fully realized by the 1750s, but the holy experiment continued until 1781, when the experiment was finally laid down. The great themes of the experiment, in addition to the founding principles of peace grounded in religious freedom and liberty of conscience, were public education, preserving friendship with the Native Americans, and abolishing the evil of slavery. By the end of the experiment in 1781, both successes and failures had been realized, successes and failures that continue to underlie the society America has become since those days of its birthing at Philadelphia when the founding fathers gave order to the United States. James Proud is an attorney, now retired, and a priest of the Episcopal Church. Proud is the editor of John Woolman and the A airs of Truth, published by Inner Light Books in 2010.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Letters of the Revelation Bible Study Book includes six small-group sessions, applicable Scripture, "How to Use This Study," and tips for leading a group. The Bible Study Book, a vital component of a group member's discipleship experience, includes optional personal-study activities that can be adapted to the individual's specific needs or schedule. John's Revelation is perhaps the most studied and discussed book in the Bible. It begins with seven letters to seven different churches of the day: Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea. Revelation and this study explore their challenges, failures, expectations, and victories. Through careful examination of these churches, group members will discover the cultural implications for those times and the ways John's prophetic vision applies today. Participants will develop a better context for end-times theology and gain a greater understanding of the task that faces the church right now. Individuals will be challenged to repent and reorient their lives to the mission of the church, as revealed in the prophecies of John. They will learn that modern churches have shortcomings like those of the churches of Asia. Yet there is still time to awake from spiritual lethargy and deadness and embrace the mission God has for His church today. The six sessions will cover the following churches: 1. Rekindling Your First Love: The Church in Ephesus 2. Faithful in Persecution: The Church in Smyrna 3. Return to Purity: The Churches in Thyatira and Pergamum 4. Awake from Your Deadness: The Church in Sardis 5. Cling to What Is Good: The Church in Philadelphia 6. Restore Your Sight: The Church in Laodicea Features: - Biblically rooted and gospel-centered content - Six small-group sessions that explore the letters to the seven churches of the Revelation - Personal-study opportunities for ongoing spiritual growth Benefits: - Gain a deeper understanding of the challenges of the church in the first century and today. - Give group members a historical context for applying the warnings of John's revelation. - Discover a path to a more vibrant spiritual life in the truth of the gospel. - Equip your group to understand and navigate a culture saturated in sexual innuendo and images. - Help your group respond to persecution in today's world. - Cultivate better discernment to identify true worth and to recognize what is truly superior in our world.
