Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How do we understand the Holy Spirit? Though countless Christians through the ages have confessed “I believe in the Holy Spirit,” the Spirit has often remained an elusive figure, relegated to the fringes of many Christians’ faith. Yet the charismatic movement made the Holy Spirit the focus of heated controversy. In this second edition of his widely popular book, Michael Green explains the biblically rooted doctrine of the Holy Spirit. He also discusses baptism and the gifts of the Spirit and addresses the dynamic, ongoing work of the Spirit today. Enriched by Green’s extensive pastoral and personal experience, I Believe in the Holy Spirit remains one of the most readable and balanced books on the third person of the Trinity.
Book Synopsis The Power of the Holy Spirit in You by : Pat Robertson
Download or read book The Power of the Holy Spirit in You written by Pat Robertson and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2022-01-11 with total page 153 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Who Is the Holy Spirit—and Why Do You Need Him in Your Life? After His crucifixion and resurrection, Jesus gave His disciples an assignment to change the world—but told them to wait until the power of the Holy Spirit had come upon them before setting out. His charge to modern-day believers is no different: To do the works that Jesus did (and even greater ones, as He said), it is imperative that we operate from the indwelling power of the Holy Spirit. But Who is this mysterious Third Person of the Trinity? How do we get this power, and what are we to do with it when we receive it? Pat Robertson, founder of the Christian Broadcasting Network and beloved longtime host of The 700 Club, tackles these questions and many others in this, the final book of a life that is now in its ninth decade. Robertson traces the path of the Holy Spirit through both the Old and New Testaments, and shares stories from his own life and that of many 700 Club viewers testifying to how the power of the Holy Spirit has miraculously freed and healed them today. If you want a better understanding of the Holy Spirit and are hungry to know more about the power that is available through Him to every Christfollower today, this book is for you.

Book Synopsis Growing in the Fruit of the Holy Spirit by : Elena Arnaudova
Download or read book Growing in the Fruit of the Holy Spirit written by Elena Arnaudova and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2008-08 with total page 94 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control" (Galatians 5: 22-23a NIV). Galatians 5: 22-23 are well-known verses amongst Christians, and yet there is relatively little teaching on this subject. Whilst there is an abundance of literature on the Person of the Holy Spirit and a great emphasis placed on His gifts, especially in charismatic circles, the fruit of the Spirit (equally if not even more important than the gifts) has been somewhat neglected. In Growing in the Fruit of the Holy Spirit, Elena Arnaudova looks at each of the nine fruits of the Spirit, underlining their fundamental importance to us in our Christian development. These simple, down-to-earth, and practical studies are the result of some of the insights and revelations Elena has received through her own devotional times over twenty years as a born-again believer. In reading this book, it is Elena's hope and prayer that you will be blessed, encouraged, and helped to grow into the fully mature character and person God created you to be. Elena Arnaudova was born and grew up in Kent in England. A qualified Secondary School and English Foreign Language teacher, she has taught for a number of years in the UK, as well as in France and Bulgaria. She also spent seven years working as an administrative assistant for a church in Hastings. In 1998 she married Deyan, and in 2007, at nearly forty years of age, she gave birth to a beautiful daughter, Rebeka.
Book Synopsis The Holy Spirit and Christian Experience by : Simeon Zahl
Download or read book The Holy Spirit and Christian Experience written by Simeon Zahl and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2020-06-11 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In The Holy Spirit and Christian Experience, Simeon Zahl presents a fresh vision for Christian theology that foregrounds the relationship between theological ideas and the experiences of Christians. He argues that theology is always operating in a vibrant landscape of feeling and desiring, and shows that contemporary theology has often operated in problematic isolation from these experiential dynamics. He then argues that a theologically serious doctrine of the Holy Spirit not only authorizes but requires attention to Christian experience. Against this background, Zahl outlines a new methodological approach to Christian theology that attends to the emotional and experiential power of theological ideas. This methodology draws on recent interdisciplinary work on affect and emotion, which has shown that affects are powerful motivating realities that saturate all dimensions of human thinking and acting. In the process, Zahl also explains why contemporary theology has often been ambivalent about subjective experience, and demonstrates that current discourse about God's activity in the world is often artificially abstracted from experience and embodiment. At the heart of the book, Zahl proposes a new account of the theology of grace from this experiential and pneumatological perspective. Focusing on the work of the Holy Spirit in salvation and sanctification, he retrieves insights from Augustine, Luther, and Philip Melanchthon to present an affective and Augustinian vision of salvation as a pedagogy of desire. In articulating this vision, Zahl engages critically with recent emphasis on participation and theosis in Christian soteriology, and charts a new path forward for Protestant theology in a landscape hitherto dominated by the theological visions of Barth and Aquinas.
