Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Astrophysical Journal, 1900, Vol. 11 The small nebula H I, 55 Pegasi (G. C. 4892) is not in itself very remarkable, as compared with many other objects of the same class, but considerable interest attaches to it on account of the diverse forms which have been ascribed to it by different observers. Herschel describes this nebula as pretty bright; irregularly round; resolvable; elongated between two stars; containing two or three stars. In another observation it is described as much elongated, its length being 2'.1 and its breadth 30." The drawing shows a narrow, spindle-shaped nebula, which accords with this description. D'Arrest's drawing much resembles that of Herschel, but the width of the nebula is greater, and the condensation toward the center is shown. The conventionalized, lozenge-shaped outline gives the drawing a somewhat unnatural appearance. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book Synopsis Dynamical Evolution of Galaxies by : Xiaolei Zhang
Download or read book Dynamical Evolution of Galaxies written by Xiaolei Zhang and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2017-12-04 with total page 337 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This research monograph presents a new dynamical framework for the study of secular morphological evolution of galaxies along the Hubble sequence. Classical approaches based on Boltzmann’s kinetic equation, as well as on its moment-equation descendants the Euler and Navier-Stokes fluid equations, are inadequate for treating the maintenance and long-term evolution of systems containing self-organized structures such as galactic density-wave modes. A global and synthetic approach, incorporating correlated fluctuations of the constituent particles during a nonequilibrium phase transition, is adopted to supplement the continuum treatment. The cutting-edge research combining analytical, N-body simulational, and observational aspects, as well as the fundamental-physics connections it provides, make this work a valuable reference for researchers and graduate students in astronomy, astrophysics, cosmology, many-body physics, complexity theory, and other related fields. Book Synopsis Cosmological Effects of Scattering in the Intergalactic Medium by : Raymond F Bonn
Download or read book Cosmological Effects of Scattering in the Intergalactic Medium written by Raymond F Bonn and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2011-04-01 with total page 687 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides an explanation of electromagnetic scattering effects in the intergalactic medium that produce what have been misinterpreted as 'evolutionary' effects. It accounts for a variety of cosmological phenomena from spectroscopic redshifts to microwave background radiation. These have variously been attributed by the standard cosmological model to an origin in a 'big bang', 'dark matter', and mysterious 'vacuum energy'. This scattering model provides a viable stationary state alternative to the established view of the universe with predictions that more precisely match observation without ad hoc assumptions.

In addition to research papers, there are two essays dealing with the basic thinking that underlies the development of applied mathematics as an academic discipline in USA. Other topics of interest are Aerodynamics, Liquid Helium, Solid State Physics, Plasticity and Magnetohydrodynamics. About 51 papers are included in these two volumes.
