Book excerpt: Master's Thesis from the year 2019 in the subject Pedagogy - School System, Educational and School Politics, grade: 1.5, University of Mindanao (Davao city), course: Master of Arts in Educational Management, language: English, abstract: This study determined which domain of political skills of school heads best influenced the organizational culture in public elementary schools. The independent variable was the political skills in terms of social astuteness, interpersonal influence, networking ability and apparent sincerity, while the dependent variable was the organizational culture with the indicators managing change, achieving goals, coordinated teamwork, customer orientation, and cultural strength. The respondents of the study were the 266 elementary teachers of Maragusan District, Division of Compostela Valley. Universal sampling method was used. The study was quantitative non-experimental, using the correlational technique. An adapted-modified questionnaire was used in gathering data. The Mean, Pearson-r and Regression Analysis were the statistical tools used. The culture of an organization plays a very important role in the realization of its goals and programs. Amidst the diversity of the backgrounds, beliefs and cultures of the different individuals, leaders are the prime initiators of placing things in order. It is inevitable that organizations face challenges, both from the internal and external environment that organizations have to embrace. However, in the organizational culture, there are situations that the members of an organization are in conflict, leading to the display of anger in the public and even shouting at each other which destroy the unity and team work of the members. This organizational conflict as to the culture of the individuals should be taken into consideration by the leaders.

Download or read book A Study of Leadership, Change, and School Culture in Title 1 Schools written by Angela Lenora Moore and published by . This book was released on 2014 with total page 134 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The purpose of the study was to contribute to the limited research on leadership, change, and school culture in Title I schools. More specially, this study explored one Title I Elementary school and the principal. This qualitative study used the case study design. Data was obtained through multiple sources. There was a review of the relevant scholarly literature, interviews responses, researcher's notes, and a review of other school documents (School improvement plan, Teacher working condition survey, School report card) to triangulation the data collected. The data analysis was done in three steps. The first step involved the analysis of each individual interview. Next, the interview responses were aligned to the primary and sub research questions. The third step uncovered the emerging themes among the participants in the study. Four overall shifts were identified as factors that contributed to the shift of the school culture. The cultural shifts included (a) from a test focused to a student focused environment, (b) from a culture of isolation to one of involvement and collaboration, (c) from a culture of ambiguity and fear to one of clarity and positivity, and (d) from Principal invisibility to visibility. Each of these shifts were orchestrated and encouraged by the principal's leadership and guidance. The results of this study are potentially useful for new administrators leading change in Title I schools."--Abstract from author supplied metadata.
