Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Epigenetics and Systems Biology highlights the need for collaboration between experiments and theoretical modeling that is required for successful application of systems biology in epigenetics studies. This book breaks down the obstacles which exist between systems biology and epigenetics researchers due to information barriers and segmented research, giving real-life examples of successful combinations of systems biology and epigenetics experiments. Each section covers one type of modeling and one set of epigenetic questions on which said models have been successfully applied. In addition, the book highlights how modeling and systems biology relate to studies of RNA, DNA, and genome instability, mechanisms of DNA damage signaling and repair, and the effect of the environment on genome stability. Presents original research in a wider perspective to reveal potential for synergies between the two fields of study Provides the latest experiments in primary literature for the modeling audience Includes chapters written by experts in systems biology and epigenetics who have vast experience studying clinical applications

Book Synopsis Epigenetics in Human Disease by : Trygve Tollefsbol
Download or read book Epigenetics in Human Disease written by Trygve Tollefsbol and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2012-07-26 with total page 617 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Epigenetics is one of the fastest growing fields of sciences, illuminating studies of human diseases by looking beyond genetic make-up and acknowledging that outside factors play a role in gene expression. The goal of this volume is to highlight those diseases or conditions for which we have advanced knowledge of epigenetic factors such as cancer, autoimmune disorders and aging as well as those that are yielding exciting breakthroughs in epigenetics such as diabetes, neurobiological disorders and cardiovascular disease. Where applicable, attempts are made to not only detail the role of epigenetics in the etiology, progression, diagnosis and prognosis of these diseases, but also novel epigenetic approaches to the treatment of these diseases. Chapters are also presented on human imprinting disorders, respiratory diseases, infectious diseases and gynecological and reproductive diseases. Since epigenetics plays a major role in the aging process, advances in the epigenetics of aging are highly relevant to many age-related human diseases. Therefore, this volume closes with chapters on aging epigenetics and breakthroughs that have been made to delay the aging process through epigenetic approaches. With its translational focus, this book will serve as valuable reference for both basic scientists and clinicians alike. Comprehensive coverage of fundamental and emergent science and clinical usage Side-by-side coverage of the basis of epigenetic diseases and their treatments Evaluation of recent epigenetic clinical breakthroughs

Download or read book Single Molecule Dynamics in Life Science written by Toshio Yanagida and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2008-12-04 with total page 346 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this first comprehensive resource to cover the application of single molecule techniques to biological measurements, the pioneers in the field show how to both set up and interpret a single molecule experiment. Following an introduction to single molecule measurements and enzymology, the expert authors consider molecular motors and mechanical properties before moving on to the applications themselves. Detailed discussions of studies on protein enzymes, ribozymes and nucleic acids are also included.
Book Synopsis Protein Interactions by : Volkhard Helms
Download or read book Protein Interactions written by Volkhard Helms and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2022-11-08 with total page 436 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Protein Interactions A fundamental guide to the burgeoning field of protein interactions From enzymes to transcription factors to cell membrane receptors, proteins are at the heart of biological cell function. Virtually all cellular processes are governed by their interactions, with one another, with cell bodies, with DNA, or with small molecules. The systematic study of these interactions is called Interactomics, and research within this new field promises to shape the future of molecular cell biology. Protein Interactions goes beyond any existing guide to protein interactions, presenting the first truly comprehensive overview of the field. Edited by two leading scholars in the field of protein bioinformatics, this book covers all known categories of protein interaction, stable as well as transient, as well as the effect of mutations and post-translational modifications on the interaction behavior. Protein Interactions readers will also find: Introductory chapters on protein structure, conformational dynamics, and protein-protein binding interfaces A data-driven approach incorporating machine learning and integrating experimental data into computational models An outlook on the current challenges in the field and suggestions for future research Protein Interactions will serve as a fundamental resource for novice researchers who want a systematic introduction to interactomics, as well as for experienced cell biologists and bioinformaticians who want to gain an edge in this exciting new field.

Book Synopsis Nuclear Architecture and Dynamics by : Christophe Lavelle
Download or read book Nuclear Architecture and Dynamics written by Christophe Lavelle and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2017-10-27 with total page 618 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nuclear Architecture and Dynamics provides a definitive resource for (bio)physicists and molecular and cellular biologists whose research involves an understanding of the organization of the genome and the mechanisms of its proper reading, maintenance, and replication by the cell. This book brings together the biochemical and physical characteristics of genome organization, providing a relevant framework in which to interpret the control of gene expression and cell differentiation. It includes work from a group of international experts, including biologists, physicists, mathematicians, and bioinformaticians who have come together for a comprehensive presentation of the current developments in the nuclear dynamics and architecture field. The book provides the uninitiated with an entry point to a highly dynamic, but complex issue, and the expert with an opportunity to have a fresh look at the viewpoints advocated by researchers from different disciplines. Highlights the link between the (bio)chemistry and the (bio)physics of chromatin Deciphers the complex interplay between numerous biochemical factors at task in the nucleus and the physical state of chromatin Provides a collective view of the field by a large, diverse group of authors with both physics and biology backgrounds
Book Synopsis Biophysics of DNA-Protein Interactions by : Mark C. Williams
Download or read book Biophysics of DNA-Protein Interactions written by Mark C. Williams and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-10-05 with total page 354 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Depite the rapid expansion of the field of biophysics, there are very few books that comprehensively treat specific topics in this area. Recently, the field of single molecule biophysics has developed very quickly, and a few books specifically treating single molecule methods are beginning to appear. However, the promise of single molecule biophysics is to contribute to the understanding of specific fields of biology using new methods. This book would focus on the specific topic of the biophysics of DNA-protein interactions, and would include the use of new approaches, including both bulk methods as well as single molecule methods. This would make the book attractive to anyone working in the general area of DNA-protein interactions, which is of course a much wider market than just single molecule biophysicists or even biophysicists. The subject of the book will be the biophysics of DNA-protein interactions, and will include new methods and results that describe the physical mechanism by which proteins interact with DNA. For example, there has been much recent work on the mechanism by which proteins search for specific binding sites on DNA. A few chapters will be devoted to experiments and theory that shed light on this important problem. We will also cover proteins that alter DNA properties to facilitate interactions important for transcription or replication. Another section of the book will cover the biophysical mechanism by which motor proteins interact with DNA. Finally, we will cover larger protein-DNA complexes, such as replication forks, recombination complexes, DNA repair interactions, and their chromatin context.
