Book Synopsis Simulation of Water Based Thermal Solar Systems by : W.L. Dutré
Download or read book Simulation of Water Based Thermal Solar Systems written by W.L. Dutré and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1991-04-30 with total page 282 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In order to facilitate detailed solar system simulations and to make such simulations readily available to solar engineers in their daily practice of system dimensioning and performance calculations, user friendly software for personal computers has been developed as a system specific simulation program for a frequently installed group of water based solar system types. The program package has been developed as part of the OPSYS R&D-program of the Commission of the European Communities and has been named EURSOL. The set of system configurations considered includes different types of thermal solar systems for space heating and hot water production. The simulations are based on validated physical system models. The program offers complete freedom with regard to all parameters describing the systems and includes on-line help, economic evaluations and graphical output. This book describes the system considered in EURSOL, the mathematical algorithm, the physical model of each component used, the processing of solar radiation data and the economic evaluation criteria. Although the book is mainly a manual for the use of the simulation program, it is also a guide for the development of simplified simulation models for solar systems.
Book Synopsis SOLAR RADIATION SIMULATION STUDIES by :
Download or read book SOLAR RADIATION SIMULATION STUDIES written by and published by . This book was released on 1963 with total page 124 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Studies and tests performed to establish the feasibility of solar simulation systems for an environmental chamber are reported. Performance objectives for the chamber and other solar simulator systems are delineated and compared. Tests were initiated on several short-arc lamps including the 10-kw xenon lamp, the 2.5-kw xenon mercury lamp and the fluid-transpiration arc source. The spectral energy distribution, radiant efficiency, polar diagram, intensity and uniformity as well as size and shape of the radiating medium under several conditions for each radiant source are examined. The influence of quartz envelope adsorption, envelope blackening, optical system reflectivities, detector fatigue, and standard source calibration is under evaluation. A reference module optical system concept based upon three and one half on-axis reflectors is examined. Ray tracing techniques are applied to determine the collimation and uniformity obtainable with an ideal short-arc source, and optical efficiencies of the several components are examined. Preliminary studies of the stability of simulator materials in the nuclear radiation environment of the chamber are also reported. In addition, the multiple source concept supplying a single collimator and the problems associated with refracting vs reflecting elements are analyzed.

Book Synopsis Solar Radiation by : Daryl Ronald Myers
Download or read book Solar Radiation written by Daryl Ronald Myers and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2017-07-12 with total page 213 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Written by a leading scientist with over 35 years of experience working at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), Solar Radiation: Practical Modeling for Renewable Energy Applications brings together the most widely used, easily implemented concepts and models for estimating broadband and spectral solar radiation data. The author addresses various technical and practical questions about the accuracy of solar radiation measurements and modeling. While the focus is on engineering models and results, the book does review the fundamentals of solar radiation modeling and solar radiation measurements. It also examines the accuracy of solar radiation modeling and measurements. The majority of the book describes the most popular simple models for estimating broadband and spectral solar resources available to flat plate, concentrating, photovoltaic, solar thermal, and daylighting engineering designs. Sufficient detail is provided for readers to implement the models in assorted development environments. Covering the nuts and bolts of practical solar radiation modeling applications, this book helps readers translate solar radiation data into viable, real-world renewable energy applications. It answers many how-to questions relating to solar energy conversion systems, solar daylighting, energy efficiency of buildings, and other solar radiation applications.
