Book excerpt: We calculate hadron spectrum of quantum chromodynamics without dynamical fermions on a 323 × 64 lattice volume at [beta] = 6.5. Using two different wall sources of staggered fermion whose mass is 0.01, 0.005 and 0.0025 under the background gauge configurations, we extract local light hadron masses and the {triangle} masses and compare these hadron masses with those from experiments. The numerical simulation is executed on the Intel Touchstone Delta computer. We employ multihit metropolis algorithm with over-relaxation method steps to update gauge field configuration and gauge field configuration are collected at every 1000 sweeps. After the gauge field configuration is fixed to Coulomb gauge, the conjugate gradient method is used for Dirac matrix inversion.

Book excerpt: Preliminary results from a hadron spectrum calculation of quenched Quantumchromodynamics on a 323 × 64 lattice at? = 6.5 are reported. The hadron spectrum calculation is done with staggered quarks of masses, m{sub q}a = 0.001, 0.005 and 0.0025. We use two different sources in order to be able to extract the? mass in addition to the usual local light hadron masses. The numerical simulation is executed on the Intel Touchstone Delta computer. The peak speed of the Delta for a 16 × 32 mesh configuration is 41 Gflops for 32 bit precision. The sustained speed for our updating code is 9.5 Gflops. A multihit metropolis algorithm combined with an over-relaxation method is used in the updating and the conjugate gradient method is employed for Dirac matrix inversion. Configurations are stored every 1000 sweeps.

Book Synopsis Hadronic Physics from Lattice QCD by : Anthony M. Green
Download or read book Hadronic Physics from Lattice QCD written by Anthony M. Green and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2004 with total page 385 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Particle and nuclear physicists frequently take results from Lattice QCD at their face value without probing into their reliability or sophistication. This attitude usually stems from a lack of knowledge of the field. The aim of the present volume is to rectify this by introducing in an elementary way several topics, which we believe are appropriate for, and of possible interest to, both particle and nuclear physicists who are non-experts in the field.
Book Synopsis Quark Confinement And The Hadron Spectrum Iv by : Wolfgang Lucha
Download or read book Quark Confinement And The Hadron Spectrum Iv written by Wolfgang Lucha and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2002-02-27 with total page 388 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Quantum chromodynamics is generally accepted to be the quantum field theory which describes the strong interactions in elementary particle physics. However, the question of the mechanism responsible for the “confinement” of the color degrees of freedom of quarks and gluons into hadrons still ranks as one of the most interesting open problems in physics. This proceedings volume summarizes the state of the art in this area of research. Mathematically inclined readers will find the articles based on monopoles, vortices, and topology most interesting. Meanwhile, lattice calculations can be performed for many important physical quantities. Their results can be used as guidelines for developing models of quark confinement. These models are indispensable for theoretical physicists performing calculations with the Bethe-Salpeter equation, Dyson-Schwinger equations, effective Hamiltonians, and potential models. The cross-fertilization of all these subfields of research becomes evident from the articles in this book. A few experimental papers are also included.

It has also become a cross-discipline, overlapping with other physical sciences and computer science. This book covers new developments in the area of algorithms, statistical physics, parallel computers and quantum computation, as well as recent advances concerning the standard model and beyond, the QCD vacuum, the glueball, hadron and quark masses, finite temperature and density, chiral fermions, SUSY, and heavy quark effective theory.
