Either we think the subject is too impolite, or we don't want to be branded an intolerant fanatic, or we worry that we won't represent the pro-life side well enough. You can overcome this fear, says Trent Horn in his new book, Persuasive Pro-Life-With a little knowledge and a few proven techniques, you can become a bold and effective apologist for the unborn. Drawing on over a decade as a pro-life activist Horn helps you cut through the diversions and obfuscations of the "pro-choice" side in order to accurately frame the legal, historical, and medical issues. Using vivid real-life examples, he drives home the critical importance of charity-no matter how loud the debate gets. For we must be not just warriors for the pro-life cause, he says, but ambassadors for it. Then Horn leads you on a guided tour of the many types of pro-abortion opponent or inquirer ("the pragmatist" "the skeptic," "the conflicted"), along with more true stories from the field. In each case he teaches you specific approaches-what to say, what not to say, and how to bear yourself-that are custom-tailored to every situation. The struggle over abortion has never been hotter, and the stakes could not be higher. Read Persuasive Pro-Life today and never again be afraid to speak up for the precious and fundamental right to life. Book jacket.

Book excerpt: There are few issues as impactful and consequential for our personal lives and communities as abortion. It divides people not only on the streets and in workplaces, but also in homes and churches. After all, this issue involves personal decisions about sex, pregnancy, parenting, and our health. So while abortion is difficult to talk about, it's important to provide accurate information and a context in which that information can be discussed. In this thoroughly researched and easy-to-read book, author Randy Alcorn examines fifteen major claims of the pro-choice position and shares fact-based, rational responses. If you have mixed feelings about abortion, as many people do, this book can be part of your quest for truth. If you're pro-choice or pro-life, it can help you think through your position. If we have any hope of understanding and engaging with each other, let's move our dialogue beyond bumper stickers, memes, and tweets. Randy encourages readers to listen carefully to arguments on both sides of the abortion debate, and to look at the evidence and weigh it on its own merit.

Friendships have been lost and family ties have been broken solely on the disagreement of this issue. Is there a possible resolution between Pro-life and Pro-choice advocates? Can we begin to understand each other? The Pro-life Playbook is an argument by argument counter to every mainstream Pro-choice talking point wrapped into one convenient, easy to read book. A useful resource for readers of all age groups and all political persuasions, this book provides a thorough breakdown of the principles surrounding the abortion debate and works to reach the climax of the discussion by finding the most scientifically justified definition of intrinsic value. Utilizing religion-free logical counters to the Pro-choice perspective, this book focuses on the scientific justification of the Pro-life viewpoint. As the political environment around the abortion debate continues to swirl, this book is your guide to a grounded and logical perspective. Jordan Groff is a lifelong pro-life advocate and has dedicated the past five years to expanding his research and knowledge on the science of abortion. He is focused on educating current and future generations about the intrinsic value of human life and would like this book to help other advocates begin their journey in fighting for the right to life for those that are the most helpless among us - the unborn.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Three Approaches to Abortion will help you persuade others -including pro-choice Catholics - that abortion is an evil society cannot permit or tolerate. Abortion has been and remains a crucial issue in American politics. Unfortunately, many Americans don't see abortion for the evil it is - the unjust killing of millions of human beings each year. Even many Catholics have been confused by the 'pro-choice' (read: pro-abortion) rhetoric of those who say that they personally accept Catholic teaching about abortion, but they can't impose it on others. You've heard argument after argument about this topic. Maybe you think there is nothing more to say. Well, there is. Three Approaches to Abortion, by popular author Peter Kreeft, cuts through the nonsense of the 'pro-choice' position. He shows in an irrefutable way why abortion is evil and why it's illogical to support abortion rights while claiming to be "personally opposed to abortion." Kreeft's commonsense approach to the issue, his lucid arguments, easy-to-grasp illustrations and examples, and his thoughtful dialogue between a pro-lifer and a 'pro-choicer' make this book an invaluable tool in the pro-life cause.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Defending Life is arguably the most comprehensive defense of the pro-life position on abortion - morally, legally, and politically - that has ever been published in an academic monograph. It offers a detailed and critical analysis of Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey as well as arguments by those who defend a Rawlsian case for abortion-choice, such as J. J. Thomson. The author defends the substance view of persons as the view with the most explanatory power. The substance view entails that the unborn is a subject of moral rights from conception. While defending this view, the author responds to the arguments of thinkers such as Boonin, Dworkin, Stretton, Ford and Brody. He also critiques Thomson's famous violinist argument and its revisions by Boonin and McDonagh. Defending Life includes chapters critiquing arguments found in popular politics and the controversy over cloning and stem cell research.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Pro-Life Advocate Scott Klusendorf Answers the Important Question: "What Are the Unborn?" Pro-life Christians, take heart: the pro-life message can compete in the marketplace of ideas if Christians properly understand and articulate that message. In light of the 50th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, too many Christians do not understand the essential truths of the pro-life position, making it difficult for them to articulate a biblical worldview on issues like abortion, cloning, and embryo research. This second edition of The Case for Life, now with added content, provides intellectual grounding for the pro-life convictions that most evangelicals hold. Author Scott Klusendorf simplifies the debate—the sanctity of life is not a morally complex issue. The debate turns on one key question: What is the unborn? In this timely ebook, Klusendorf teaches readers what the role of the pro-life Christian should be and how to lovingly and winsomely engage in questions and objections. Timely: Covers current hot-button topics related to abortion, cloning, and embryo research Ideal for Christians or Anyone Curious about the Pro-Life Movement: Written for those looking to learn more about the pro-life argument and why it matters Logically Grounded: Klusendorf explains the core of the argument and how to engage in a thoughtful and loving way Additional Content: Includes two new chapters on how to organize material for a pro-life talk and what it means to be pro-life

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book introduces readers to the many arguments and controversies concerning abortion. While it argues for ethical and legal positions on the issues, it focuses on how to think about the issues, not just what to think about them. It is an ideal resource to improve your understanding of what people think, why they think that and whether their (and your) arguments are good or bad, and why. It's ideal for classroom use, discussion groups, organizational learning, and personal reading. From the Preface To many people, abortion is an issue for which discussions and debates are frustrating and fruitless: it seems like no progress will ever be made towards any understanding, much less resolution or even compromise. Judgments like these, however, are premature because some basic techniques from critical thinking, such as carefully defining words and testing definitions, stating the full structure of arguments so each step of the reasoning can be examined, and comparing the strengths and weaknesses of different explanations can help us make progress towards these goals. When emotions run high, we sometimes need to step back and use a passion for calm, cool, critical thinking. This helps us better understand the positions and arguments of people who see things differently from us, as well as our own positions and arguments. And we can use critical thinking skills help to try to figure out which positions are best, in terms of being supported by good arguments: after all, we might have much to learn from other people, sometimes that our own views should change, for the better. Here we use basic critical thinking skills to argue that abortion is typically not morally wrong. We begin with less morally-controversial claims: adults, children and babies are wrong to kill and wrong to kill, fundamentally, because they, we, are conscious, aware and have feelings. We argue that since early fetuses entirely lack these characteristics, they are not inherently wrong to kill and so most abortions are not morally wrong, since most abortions are done early in pregnancy, before consciousness and feeling develop in the fetus. Furthermore, since the right to life is not the right to someone else’s body, fetuses might not have the right to the pregnant woman’s body—which she has the right to—and so she has the right to not allow the fetus use of her body. This further justifies abortion, at least until technology allows for the removal of fetuses to other wombs. Since morally permissible actions should be legal, abortions should be legal: it is an injustice to criminalize actions that are not wrong. In the course of arguing for these claims, we: 1. discuss how to best define abortion; 2. dismiss many common “question-begging” arguments that merely assume their conclusions, instead of giving genuine reasons for them; 3. refute some often-heard “everyday arguments” about abortion, on all sides; 4. explain why the most influential philosophical arguments against abortion are unsuccessful; 5. provide some positive arguments that at least early abortions are not wrong; 6. briefly discuss the ethics and legality of later abortions, and more. This essay is not a “how to win an argument” piece or a tract or any kind of apologetics. It is not designed to help anyone “win” debates: everybody “wins” on this issue when we calmly and respectfully engage arguments with care, charity, honesty and humility. This book is merely a reasoned, systematic introduction to the issues that we hope models these skills and virtues. Its discussion should not be taken as absolute “proof” of anything: much more needs to be understood and carefully discussed—always.

Book excerpt: Of the 1.2 million abortions performed annually in the U.S., more than 500,000 are performed on college-aged women. They make up 44% of all abortions in the country. So it is not surprising that there is a large, thriving network of pro-life groups on college campuses. These groups serve to advocate for pro-life and educate other young people about the physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual effects that abortion has on women. While there are online guides and booklets on the topic, there are currently very few if any books that are specifically geared for use by young advocates for this cause. Now there is Stand for Life, a manual that addresses tough questions in a format that is concise and straightforward. Topics include: Defending your pro-life views in five minutes or less Understanding the sanctity of human life Simplifying the abortion debate Developing a Christian response to abortion Debate: keeping cool under fire Q&As about such thorny issues as unsafe abortions, abortion when mothers lives are at risk, my body, my choice, and more
