Princess Amber of Molanka has spent the past six months caring for her ailing mother. She prays her father can find a cure during his voyage to other lands. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: John Prince was a lawyer, farmer, military officer, politician, judge, and entrepreneur. Born at Hereford, England, in 1796, he emigrated to Upper Canada in 1833 because he was ashamed of his ne'er-do-well father. His interest in farming took him to Sandwich where he became involved in the many careers open to him. An unhappy and volatile man, he was constantly at odds with himself, his family, and his associates. As colonel of the Third Essex Regiment, he was sometimes unpredictable in his actions and on one occasion, during the Upper Canada Rebellion, unjustifiably violent – ordering the summary execution of five prisoners after the Battle of Windsor. As a politician, despite his haughty and melancholic nature and his erratic individualism, he held the loyalty of his constituents, representing Essex in the House of Assembly from 1836 to 1854 and the Western Districts in the Legislative Council from 1856 to 1860. In 1860, after a lifetime spent in politics, farming, railroading and mining speculations, and canal schemes, he obtained a long-sought judgeship in the new District of Algoma. Leaving his wife and children behind, he went off to his 'New Siberia,' where he continued his restless struggle to escape 'the importunities of mankind,' and where his long, tragic life ended in 1870. Entries from Prince's diary, excerpts from newspaper accounts, and letters give a vivid picture of the politics and life of his time. In his Introduction, R. Alan Douglas emphasizes the contribution made by the discovery of the diary to our perception of the people, places, and events of mid-nineteenth century North America. Book excerpt: The Curse of Knight's Island Alles Gute zum Geburtstag A Romance Mystery & Suspense Thriller The old woman sat there dominated by a sense of profound sadness. Fatigue etched on her worn face. She warmed her shivering hands against the crackling fire. The sorrow grew more extreme each year she spent in her quiet and lonely house. The solemn walls continued to revive the memory of her daughter's death encountered at the hands of a member of a wealthy Knight Family descendant. She stood frozen in front of her mirror and saw the deceiving hollow soul that reflected in the tear-stained looking glass. The marks left no room to see her true self any longer. All that remained was a shell of a woman, a woman wasted away. As she gazed into the mirror she reminded herself again of the curse left behind for the gruesome murder of her daughter. The curse was spoken by the old woman in the year 1567 to the man she blamed for her daughter's murder. It still echoed over many generations of the Knight Family history. "When one Knight family member spends three years on this Island, or two, unneglected, unslighted, and never regretting having come, I forgive you to the extent of my very first curse." 'When the first marriage is loveless on both sides and unselfish on both sides, may that be the last marriage on which the second curse falls!" "When someone loves life and willingly gives it for a Knight in peril, gives it without thought of other glory or reward than the thanks of a Knight, let the third curse go away." Her terrible curse, which came true for five hundred years remained unbroken. But, will our famous detective, Vincent Gideon, come out of retirement, again, finally solve the curse before it's too late? Will he lose the woman he has loved his entire life? What about his son? Will he die a violent death as predicted in the Curse? So many unanswered questions. The first edition of Frankenstein by Mary Shelley published on New Year's Day in 1818 sat on the nightstand of John Pilkington, owner of the Portland Sentinel. There was something about this novel that intrigued the old recluse. By the time this romantic suspense ends, the famed detective's friend will have read the story at least a dozen times. Why? Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An alpha prince, required to find his fated mate, has already pledged his love to another. But there’s a problem... Prince Caol of the North has enjoyed a very active, carefree life. Being the youngest of five alpha-born princes, he hasn’t had a lot of responsibilities. As he watched his brothers find their fated mates and produce sons, he knew the time would come when he’d be forced to do the same. However, he’s in no rush since he’s quite happy with his current lover. While Caol wants to take his beta servant as his mate, the king demands the law be upheld and he find an omega who can give him sons to continue the Selkie race. Beck can’t bear the thought of losing his alpha—the prince he not only served for years but loved just as many—to an omega. A male fated to bear his alpha sons. However, Beck’s gender makes it impossible for the prince to take him as his mate since betas cannot produce heirs. Galen has lost so much. Trying to mend his broken heart, the omega’s thrown into the path of his alpha when he becomes a wet-nurse to the prince’s son. A son Caol has no idea even existed. The only problem is his alpha already has a lover. One Caol’s been with for years, one he loves. Just when Galen thought he’d never find a mate due to his past circumstances, the omega unexpectedly finds two. Was this what the fates intended? Note: A 66k-plus word m/m/m ménage shifter mpreg story, this is the fifth book in the Royal Alpha series. Due to the “knotty” times in this book, it is recommended for mature readers only. While it can be read as a standalone, it’s recommended to read the series in order. And, like all of my books, it has an HEA.
