Download or read book The Spike Garden written by Jim Hawkins and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2009-11-02 with total page 196 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Dogs bark at those with whom we are angry, show their teeth to those whom we hate, and hump themselves on those that we desire. In short they display that which we are not permitted to display by the rules of the veil that calls itself polite society." "The child can take two paths to creating the adult. The first is the path of Pygmalion. He carved from ivory a statue that he loved. He made offerings and sacrifices and his statue was granted life by Aphrodite. Was the statue granted life because Pygmalion's diligence and sculpting skill pleased his patron? Or was it the beauty of the statue that pleased her? No, it was the sacrifices. The child must sacrifice much before the gods allow him to become a fully living adult. Pygmalion's statue aged and died with him. The child is cruelly denied this experience. The child must also give up its own life for the adult to live. Sometimes one or both of its parents must do the same. The second path that the child may take is that of Hephaestus."

Download or read book The Infinite View written by Ellen Tadd and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2017 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Written by internationally revered clairvoyant counselor and educator Ellen Tadd, The Infinite View is a spiritual classic in the making. People often lean towards either trusting their gut or relying on their analytical mind, but Tadd urges readers to consider a new approach that allows both emotions and the intellect to be guided by wisdom. Through describing how the Spirit, soul, and personality are integrated, she guides readers in deepening and expanding their perceptions to discover practical solutions to everyday challenges. According to Tadd, Spirit is the God Force that animates and empowers us and suffuses everyone and everything. But while Spirit is conscious and communicative, we haven't been taught to look for or listen to it. In fact, most of us have been conditioned not to look or listen. When we choose to attune our conscious mind with Spirit, we find ourselves able to engage life with greater clarity--even when it tests us through illness, death, loneliness, anxiety, or fear. The Infinite View offers tools and insights needed to achieve this attunement. Drawing on her personal narrative, as well as the experiences of her students, Tadd helps readers transform their understanding of themselves and the world around them.

Book Synopsis Speak My Soul by : Rudolph V. Vanterpool
Download or read book Speak My Soul written by Rudolph V. Vanterpool and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2011-09 with total page 380 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Speak My Soul addresses the challenges, strivings, aspirations, anxieties, and perplexities of the human condition. The author's prose form is stylistically free. Characteristically, several of his poems are composed with meticulous attention to rhyming tendencies, while at other times he just lets lines flow as they come to birth in his soul. He tries to locate liberating speech-acts that are able to resonate intimately, from a universal standpoint, with readers of his prose. The book's four-part organization is meant to take readers along on a reflective odyssey through a web of lived-experiences. The idea of the self is the foundational thought and accordingly becomes the core preoccupation of Part One of the text. What is there about personal identity that captivates our imagination to such a degree that we want to talk about ourselves? We aren't solitary souls wandering this earth. Part Two sets its sights upon the presence of others within the zones of our activities. We are a global family of thinking, connected living human beings. In a sort of paradoxical sense, we can come to know ourselves better when we are self-consciously aware of how we are gazed upon by others. Part Three turns to a vertical gaze heavenward. The author seeks to place into the foreground the believer's earthly pilgrimage. What exactly is the point of this spiritual conversion that persuades us of an ultimate other-worldly citizenship? The writer is a practicing professional philosopher. He confirms his love for philosophy by sharing pearls of his familiarity with wisdom's terrains --the multi-faceted adventures of the life of the mind. He does, however, reckon with the limitations of a thoroughgoing naturalistic philosophical temperament. His consciousness of the human condition and of the life world at large is informed by larger cosmic considerations--an eternalistic point of view Vanterpool speaks of as "transcendism ". Vanterpool openly meditates upon the walk of faith as the center piece of a life that is lived well and more completely. The tenets of natural reason fall short in this regard.
