Download or read book Aerodynamic Components of Aircraft at High Speeds written by Allen F. Donovan and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 2015-12-08 with total page 863 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Volume VII of the High Speed Aerodynamics and Jet Propulsion series. It deals with applications to specific components of the complete aircraft. Sections of the volume include: aerodynamics of wings at high speed, aerodynamics of bodies at high speed, interaction problems, propellers at high speed, diffusers and nozzles, and nonsteady wing characteristics. Originally published in 1957. The Princeton Legacy Library uses the latest print-on-demand technology to again make available previously out-of-print books from the distinguished backlist of Princeton University Press. These editions preserve the original texts of these important books while presenting them in durable paperback and hardcover editions. The goal of the Princeton Legacy Library is to vastly increase access to the rich scholarly heritage found in the thousands of books published by Princeton University Press since its founding in 1905.

Book Synopsis Examination of the Existing Data on the Heat Transfer of Turbulent Boundary Layers at Supersonic Speeds from the Point of View of Reynolds Analogy by : Alvin Seiff
Download or read book Examination of the Existing Data on the Heat Transfer of Turbulent Boundary Layers at Supersonic Speeds from the Point of View of Reynolds Analogy written by Alvin Seiff and published by . This book was released on 1954 with total page 654 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Heat-transfer data from four wind-tunnel experiments and two free-flight experiments with turbulent boundary layers have been examined to see whether or not they are well represented by the Reynolds analogy or a modification thereof. The heat-transfer results are put into the form of dimensionless Stanton numbers based on fluid properties at the outer edge of the boundary layer and are compared with skin-friction coefficients for the same Mach numbers and wall to free-stream temperature ratios as obtained from an interpolation of the existing skin-friction data. The effective Reynolds number is taken to be the length Reynolds number measured from the effective turbulent origin, a position which differs importantly from the leading edge of the test surface in some cases.
Book Synopsis Structures Technology by : Ahmed Khairy Noor
Download or read book Structures Technology written by Ahmed Khairy Noor and published by AIAA. This book was released on 1998 with total page 544 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Drawn from early volumes of Aerospace America and its antecedents, this book rescues the insights, concerns, and dreams of dozens of structural engineers for the next generation of aerospace scientists and engineers. Written by eminent individuals in structures, this book provides accessible source material for university-level design courses in aerospace engineering. The first paper in Structures Technology deals with new structures for future aerospace systems and provides a contrast between our current thinking and past technology plans. Succeeding papers are historical reports covering materials and structures, general structures technology, aircraft structures, space structures, and structural dynamics technology. You will also find sections covering structural configurations, thermal protection systems, subsonic aircraft, supersonic and hypersonic vehicles and structures for space systems.
Book Synopsis Vortex Interference on Slender Airplanes by : Alvin H. Sacks
Download or read book Vortex Interference on Slender Airplanes written by Alvin H. Sacks and published by . This book was released on 1955 with total page 702 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is found that the impulse of each shed vortex and its image vortex in a transformed circle plane enters into all the interference forces and moments on the airplane. A simple theorem is given for the interference forces in steady straight flight which are found to depend on this impulse evaluated only at the wing trailing edge and at the base of the configuration.
