They measure the branching fraction to be (9.2 ± 0.9 ± 0.5) x 10°6 and determine the fractions of longitudinal and parity-odd transverse contributions as f{sub L} = 0.52 ± 0.05 ± 0.02 and F{sub {perpendicular}} = 0.22 ± 0.05 ± 0.02, respectively. The phases of the parity-even and parity-odd transverse amplitudes relative to the longitudinal amplitude are found to be [phi]{sub {parallel}} = 2.34{sub -0.20}{sup +0.23} ± 0.05 rad and [phi]{sub {perpendicular}} = 2.47 ± 0.25 ± 0.05 rad, respectively. The authors measure five CP asymmetries which provide important limits on CP violation originating from new physics. They also observe the decay B° --> [phi]K*°(1430).

We report the branching fractions of the decays B [superscript +] [arrow right] [straight phi][straight phi] K[superscript +] and B[superscript o] [arrow right] [straight phi][straight phi] K[superscript o], and CP asymmetry in the charged B mode for [straight phi][straight phi] invariant mass below 2.85 GeV/ c 2 : [Special characters omitted.] Additionally, we measure the direct CP asymmetry in B[superscript +] [arrow right] [straight phi][straight phi] K [superscript +] for [straight phi][straight phi] invariant mass within the [eta][subcript c] resonance region ([2.94-3.02] GeV/ c 2): [Special characters omitted.] No direct CP asymmetry is observed both below the [eta][subcript c] and within the [eta][subcript c] resonance, as expected within the Standard Model. In each case the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively.

Book excerpt: A method is presented to simultaneously separate the contributions to a sample of B{sub (s)}° 2!hh{sup {prime}-} decays, where h = [pi] or K, and measure the B meson lifetimes in the sample while correcting for the bias in the lifetime distributions due to the hadronic trigger at the CDF experiment. Using 1 fb−1 of data collected at CDF the B° lifetime is measured as [tau]{sub B°} = 1.558{sub -0.047}{sup +0.050}{sub stat} ± 0.028{sub syst} ps, in agreement with the world average measurement. The B{sub s}° lifetime in the B{sub s}° 2!KK− decay is measured as [tau]{sub B{sub s}° 2!K+K−} = 1.51{sub -0.11}{sup +0.13}{sub stat} ± 0.04{sub syst} ps. No difference is observed between the lifetime and other measurements of the average B{sub s}° lifetime or the lifetime of the light B{sub s}° mass eigenstate determined from B{sub s}° 2!J/[psi][phi] decays. With the assumptions that B{sub s}° 2!K+K− is 100% CP-even and that [tau]{sub B{sub s}°} = [tau]{sub B°} the width difference in the B{sub s}{sup 0} system is determined as [Delta][Lambda]{sup CP}/[Lambda] = 0.03{sub -0.15}{sup +0.17}{sub stat} ± 0.05{sub syst} using the current world average B{sup 0} lifetime. This is consistent with zero and with the current world average measurement.

Results are based on a sample of 86 million B{bar B} pairs collected with the BABAR detector at the SLAC e+e− B Factory. We measure the branching fractions [Beta](B+ 2![eta]{sub c}K+) = (1.34 ± 0.09 ± 0.13 ± 0.41) x 10−3 and [Beta](B° 2![eta]{sub c}K°) = (1.18 ± 0.16 ± 0.13 ± 0.37) x 10−3, where the first error is statistical, the second is systematic, and the third reflects the [eta]{sub c} branching fraction uncertainty. In addition, we search for B 2![eta]{sub c}K events with [eta]{sub c} 2!2(K+K−) and [eta]{sub c} 2![phi][phi] and determine the [eta]{sub c} decay branching fraction ratios [Beta]([eta]{sub c} 2!2(K+K−))/[Beta]([eta]{sub c} 2!K{bar K}[pi]) = (2.3 ± 0.7 ± 0.6) x 10−2 and [Beta]([eta]{sub c} 2![phi][phi])/[Beta]([eta]{sub c} 2!K{bar K}[pi]) = (5.5 ± 1.4 {+-} 0.5) x 10−2.
