Book Synopsis The Anomalous Magnetic Moment of the Muon by : Fred Jegerlehner
Download or read book The Anomalous Magnetic Moment of the Muon written by Fred Jegerlehner and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2008 with total page 433 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book reviews the present state of knowledge of the anomalous magnetic moment a=(g-2)/2 of the muon. The muon anomalous magnetic moment is one of the most precisely measured quantities in elementary particle physics and provides one of the most stringent tests of relativistic quantum field theory as a fundamental theoretical framework. It allows for an extremely precise check of the standard model of elementary particles and of its limitations.

Download or read book E+ E- to Hadrons Cross-Sections at BaBar written by and published by . This book was released on 2011 with total page 4 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We present an overview of cross-section measurements at BABAR. In e{sup {+-}} → few-body processes at a center-of-mass energy E{sub CM} = 10.6 GeV we make new QCD tests and the first observation of two-virtual-photon annihilations into hadrons. Studies at lower √s, using radiative return, yield new/improved data on spectroscopy, form factors and the total hadronic cross section, an important input to calculations of g{sub {mu}}-2 and [alpha](M{sub Z}). We also present an inclusive measurement of the running of [alpha].
Book Synopsis The Anomalous Magnetic Moment of the Muon by : Friedrich Jegerlehner
Download or read book The Anomalous Magnetic Moment of the Muon written by Friedrich Jegerlehner and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-08-17 with total page 704 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This research monograph covers extensively the theory of the muon anomalous magnetic moment and provides estimates of the theoretical uncertainties. This book reviews the present state of knowledge of the anomalous magnetic moment a=(g-2)/2 of the muon. Recent experiments at the Brookhaven National Laboratory now reach the unbelievable precision of 0.5 parts per million, improving the accuracy of previous g-2 experiments at CERN by a factor of 14. In addition, quantum electrodynamics and electroweak and hadronic effects are reviewed. Since non-perturbative hadronic effects play a key role for the precision test, their evaluation is described in detail. Perspectives for future improvements of the theoretical and experimental precision are considered. The new edition features improved theoretical predictions to match upcoming experiments, like the one at Fermilab. Additionally the new more precise basic parameters are presented.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We present a summary of the hadronic cross section measurements performed with BABAR at the PEP-II collider via radiative return. BABAR has performed measurements of exclusive final states containing 3, 4 and 6 hadrons via this complementary method, as well as a measurement of the proton form factor.
Book Synopsis Standard Theory Of Particle Physics, The: Essays To Celebrate Cern's 60th Anniversary by : Luciano Maiani
Download or read book Standard Theory Of Particle Physics, The: Essays To Celebrate Cern's 60th Anniversary written by Luciano Maiani and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2016-08-25 with total page 484 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 'The editors make a good point in claiming the time has come to upgrade the Standard Model into the ‘Standard Theory’ of particle physics, and I think this book deserves a place in the bookshelves of a broad community, from the scientists and engineers who contributed to the progress of high-energy physics to younger physicists, eager to learn and enjoy the corresponding inside stories.'Carlos LourençoCERN CourierThe book gives a quite complete and up-to-date picture of the Standard Theory with an historical perspective, with a collection of articles written by some of the protagonists of present particle physics. The theoretical developments are described together with the most up-to-date experimental tests, including the discovery of the Higgs Boson and the measurement of its mass as well as the most precise measurements of the top mass, giving the reader a complete description of our present understanding of particle physics.
Book Synopsis Hadron Spectroscopy by : Eberhard Klempt
Download or read book Hadron Spectroscopy written by Eberhard Klempt and published by American Institute of Physics. This book was released on 2004-09-13 with total page 1010 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The main topic of the conference was the physics of strong interaction and the understanding of how quarks form hadrons, which are part of the atomic nucleus. The proceedings give a comprehensive overview of the present status of the physics of hadrons. Topics include: mesons, baryons, scalars, exotics, heavy quarks, theoretical concepts, hadrons in matter, and reactions. The timing of the conference was very fortunate as many new and surprising results appeared in the months before its start. The highlights were the discussions about the nature of the recently discovered arrow states.
