Pour cela il a dû effectuer des recherches qui l'ont amené à remonter dans le temps et finalement, lors d'un voyage dans le nord du Népal, il rencontra un moine ermite, maître de l'école Kagyûtpa (une adepte de la succession apostolique). L'enseignement de ce guide reposait sur le MahaMudra (le Grand Symbole). Une des plus anciennes et des plus pures forme de méditation connues à ce jour.
