Book excerpt: Master's Thesis from the year 2011 in the subject Communications - Public Relations, Advertising, Marketing, Social Media, grade: A, Webster Graduate School London, language: English, abstract: The Fritz-Kola GmbH is a German enterprise founded in 2003 by Lorenz Hampl and Mirco Wolf Wiegert, two students from Hamburg. The original idea behind the product was to create a cola drink that tastes different from the products of Coca-Cola or Pepsi, being less sweet with more caffeine. Focussing on the distribution through restaurants, cafés, bars and clubs, the brand became popular among the targeted group of young individualists and party-goers. It is due to that popularity, which also was supported by the trend of supporting regional brands, that Fritz-Kola’s revenues were increasing by two over three years in a row. In 2006, the company launched other beverages like lemonades and a ‘morning-cola’ that has the taste of coffee and caramel. By 2010, the company’s revenue was €2.7 million. The internationalization of its products is an on-going process. Today, Fritz-Kola is available in Germany, Poland, The Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland, Spain and Belgium. Fritz Kola is also available in the UK, but only in one restaurant, which is a German restaurant importing the product from Germany. The corporate objectives of Fritz-Kola GmbH are not to become a market leader in the segment of soft drinks, but to provide a considerable alternative to the big players like Coca-Cola and PepsiCo. For that reason, the company strives to create a diversified product portfolio under the brand name Fritz-Kola, consisting of cola lemonades.

The purpose of the paper work is to analyze the principles of international marketing, to consider this kind of activities in The Coca Cola Company. In conditions of transition to a market economy, one of the factors of effective functioning of economic entities is the access of these entities to international markets. Book excerpt: Research Paper (undergraduate) from the year 2010 in the subject Business economics - Offline Marketing and Online Marketing, grade: 1,0, University of Applied Sciences Fulda, course: International Marketing Management, language: English, abstract: Globalization has increased the competition amongst firms. There are more and more companies which are motivated to conquer foreign markets and enlarge their presence on these markets. For multiple reasons, companies adopt modes to enter foreign markets and find new channels of distribution. Choosing the right and appropriate market entry strategy has a growing importance. As a matter of fact, companies should align their strategy to their objectives and adapt them to the foreign markets environment. There are numerous different entry strategies which are all linked to different entry modes, different amounts of risks or costs. From the least costly mode to the most expensive one we distinguish three main strategies: Export is characterized by the transportation of finished goods from one country to another. The distribution on site is done by an intermediary or by foreign based distributors or agents. Joint Venturing includes different characteristics of various joint contracts with firms to produce or promote services or products. Direct investment is, when a company decides to invest directly into a foreign country by either establish an assembly operation, a wholly-owned operation as well as a merge or an acquisition. Each of the market entry strategy has both, advantages and disadvantages. The less costly the strategy is, the less control the company has over the distribution channel. Consequently, the company depends more or less on foreign institutions or foreign partners. All in all a company has to figure out for itself which strategy to choose, according to its particular situation, financial as well as economical and environmental. Therefore, before entering a market, a previous comprehensive research and analysis of the target market and its economic environment is indispensable to achieve a successful launch into an unknown market.

Book excerpt: Seminar paper from the year 2006 in the subject Business economics - Marketing, Corporate Communication, CRM, Market Research, Social Media, University of Applied Sciences Braunschweig / Wolfenbüttel, course: International Business, 26 entries in the bibliography, language: English, abstract: Since the word has both technical and political meanings, different groups will have differing histories of "globalization". In general use within the field of economics and political economy, however, it is a history of increasing trade between nations based on stable institutions that allows firms in different nations to exchange goods and services with minimal friction. The term "liberalization" means the acceptance of the neoclassical economic model which is based on the unimpeded flow of goods and services between economic jurisdictions. This led to specialization of nations in exports, and the pressure to end protective tariffs and other barriers to trade. The period of the gold standard and liberalization of the 19th century is often called "The First Era of Globalization". Based on the Pax Britannica and the exchange of goods in currencies pegged to specie, this era grew along with industrialization. The theoretical basis was David Ricardo's work on Comparative advantage and Say's Law of General equilibrium. In essence, it was argued that nations would trade effectively, and that any temporary disruptions in supply or demand would correct themselves automatically. The institution of the gold standard came in steps in major industrialized nations between approximately 1850 and 1880, though exactly when various nations were truly on the gold standard is contentiously debated. In the "First Era of Globalization" is said to have broken down in stages beginning with the First World War, and then collapsing with the crisis of the gold standard in the late 1920s and early 1930s. Countries that engaged in that era of globalization, including the European core, some of the European periphery and various European offshoots in America and Oceania, prospered. Inequality between those states fell, as goods, capital and labour flowed remarkably freely between nations.

Book excerpt: For every company that is active internationally, a systematically operated cross-national marketing management is indispensable in order to secure its own existence in the long term. The rapid changes on many markets and in many countries also mean that professional information gathering and processing of market-relevant data must take place within the framework of international market research. Based on this data, market-oriented decisions have to be made within international marketing management in order to achieve operational goals. This book deals not only with the "classic" topics of international marketing, such as international market research and the international use of individual marketing instruments, but also with the various management sub-functions of planning, controlling, organization and human resources management in internationally active companies, each with a specific reference to marketing in the sense of market-oriented corporate management. The theoretically presented correlations are enriched by current data on the relevant framework conditions on international markets, empirical findings on the individual fields of action of international marketing management as well as numerous current examples from entrepreneurial practice. With this comprehensive presentation of international marketing management, the authors address lecturers and students as well as practitioners who deal with marketing issues in an international context.

True understanding of the customer requires efficient marketing research about the firm’s international business environment. As discussed in the first chapters of the book, the firm’s business success depends in part on its ethical standards; thus awareness of its environmental and social responsibility is required. The following chapters concentrate on various aspects of culturally biased customer behavior and how the firm ensures sensitivity when planning and selecting its marketing strategies. The most efficient techniques of international market segmentation, targeting, and strategic competitive positioning are introduced. Furthermore, concepts of consumer loyalty programs and their implementation in diversified international markets are presented. An important part is dedicated to describing suitable mixes of marketing policies for firms operating in culturally heterogeneous international markets. Finally, forecasting changes in consumer behavior as a tool of planning international marketing activities is taken into consideration. Marketing control mechanisms that seek to increase efficiency of selected marketing activities further contribute to the valuable insights of this publication.

Book excerpt: Seminar paper from the year 2021 in the subject Business economics - Offline Marketing and Online Marketing, grade: 1,0, University of Applied Sciences Köln RFH, language: English, abstract: The goal of this thesis is to find out if Lemonaid should take the opportunity to expand internationally and which market could be entered. Furthermore, it will be established how to approach and position Lemonaid in the market and deciding which market entry mode should be used to promises the best possible success. This leads to the central question of this paper: How could a best practice strategy for an international market entry of Lemonaid Beverages GmbH look like? To answer this question, firstly the current situation of Lemonaid is assessed in terms of company resources and size as well as preparedness for internationalisation by using the Nine-Strategic Window framework. A potential market will be selected after it. In the third chapter, the market environment, the competition in the market and Lemonaid's competitive advantages in the market are analysed. For this purpose, Porter's Diamond, Porter's five forces and the competitive Triangle are used. After the assessment and the result of the analysis, the 4 P's (Product, Price, Place, Promotion) are determined based on a comprehensive SWOT analysis. Finally, the market entry mode is derived in chapter 5 in respective of all the information, analyses and data obtained. In recent years, consumer behaviour in terms of sustainability, environmental awareness and social responsibility has changed significantly. Consumers become gradually more aware of the consequences of their purchasing behaviour and pay more attention to environmental, political and social responsibility. It is assumed that this trend will continue even more in the future. Based on this development, it is expected that consumers demand for sustainable products and especially for products from companies in compliance with these mentioned values will increase strongly. One company whose strategy and vision are based on the sale of sustainable, eco-friendly and fair-trade soft drinks is the Lemonaid Beverages GmbH located in Germany. The enterprise achieved strong growth rates in sales in the last years and distributes already in some countries outside of Germany. The continuing increase in demand of sustainable products offers Lemonaid Beverages GmbH opportunities to enhance their success by expanding into new markets.

This book was released on 2016-11-15 with total page 168 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bachelor Thesis from the year 2016 in the subject Business economics - Marketing, Corporate Communication, CRM, Market Research, Social Media, grade: 9,2, , language: English, abstract: This thesis represents an in-depth market insight on the German beverage market for the American company Zevia. Considering the theoretical background particularly focusing on the issue of standardization or adaptation of an international marketing strategy, the author suggests in the event of entering the German market to especially adapt 3 out of the 4 marketing mix elements, namely price, promotion and place. Special attention should be drawn to an alteration of Zevia’s promotion and price policies. However, the German beverage market constitutes a tough external environment for the realization of a market penetration and awareness creation for Zevia’s soft drink. Overall the German market can be described as saturated, diversified and one conferring high bargaining power to supermarkets. All these factors represent an obstacle for Zevia to enter this market, despite the German food and beverage industry being highly receptive to new and innovative products. This openness derives from the trend detected in Germany (and globally) towards the increased request for health and wellness products. However apparently despite this trend the German market for low calorie lemonades is declining and the perception of stevia as a sweetener is rather negative. These facts have also been proven in a thesis intern online survey. Zevia is recommended to only penetrate the German beverage market under specific circumstances named in this thesis while considering the author’s proposals in reference to its marketing mix elements.

Book excerpt: Seminar paper from the year 2015 in the subject Business economics - Offline Marketing and Online Marketing, University of the Sunshine Coast Queensland, language: English, abstract: This report examines the marketing of "Coca-Cola Life" which is distributed by the Coca-Cola Company. The research draws attention to the company’s background and evaluates the background of Coca-Cola Life. Further, it follows an analysis of the product in relation to the marketing mix theory and concepts. Thereby the focus is on the product, price and promotion. Finally, two innovative recommendations will be given, relating to the improvement of the sustainable aspects of Coca-Cola Life’s marketing. In conducting this report only secondary research methodologies were used implementing resources such as using books and websites. In relation to the product life cycle it is evident that Coca-Cola Life is currently in the growth stage as it continues to increase sales. It is obvious that the product is within the category of non-durable goods. The ‘core’ product is a refreshing soft drink with a unique taste and 35% less sugar and kilojoules, sweetened with stevia as a natural source. The ‘actual’ product is a glass bottle with a brown liquid inside and a green label with a small leaf logo. The ‘augmented’ product is the actual product plus contact details of the company, a help line and a complaint phone service. Usually the price of a 600ml bottle of Coca-Cola Life is around $3.50 which is positioned above the price of the direct competitor Pepsi True. Compared to indirect competitors the price is set in the upper margin. With regard to the promotion of Coca-Cola Life the Coca-Cola Company uses different ways to communicate the product whereby campaigns that wake emotions are currently at a premium. Evaluation of this product lead to the following recommendations: A weakness was identified in the ingredients. It is recommended that the ingredients should be mostly organic and the sugar should be completely removed in order to satisfy customer needs and wants. Special attention should be paid to the recycling system. It is recommended that the company target itself on reusable packaging instead of one-way drink packaging. Recommendations have been made to suggest that a more sustainable view of Coca-Cola Life and its environment could potentially increase market share and future profits.

Book excerpt: Essay from the year 2011 in the subject Business economics - Marketing, Corporate Communication, CRM, Market Research, Social Media, grade: 80, Queen Mary University of London (Business School), course: International Marketing, language: English, abstract: The debate around standardization versus adaptation in international marketing consists since nearly half a decade now. The first articles regarding the question whether firms should adapt their strategy and marketing program to the local costumers needs or if they rather should focus on global standardization were published in the 1960's (e.g. Bartels, 1968; Buzell, 1968; Elinder, 1961/1965; Keegan, 1969). Since then over 300 articles address this research question and it is a never- ending debate with inconsistent findings. A recent detailed meta-study over relevant articles of the last 50 years leads to contradictory findings: Out of 274 articles published in Marketing and Management Journals, 8% recommended global standardization, 14 % favored adaption, 10 % could not give a recommendation and the majority (68%) stated that companies have to make their decision grounded on the specific situation they are in (Schmid & Kotulla, 2010). These contradictory findings in the literature alone show, that the statement "Standardization in International Marketing strategy is doomed to failure" cannot be easily agreed with. This essay has the purpose to disprove the statement and demonstrate, with the help of previous literature and practical examples, that in certain contexts and for some companies, standardization can be a successful strategy. Chapter 2 provides an overview of the debate standardization versus adaptation and the empirical results of a choice of articles. Chapter 3 explains which aspects of the marketing mix will be observed and clarifies the definition of standardization. Following in Chapter 4 two companies within the consumer goods will be presented, who clearly follow an international standardizatio
