Download or read book Authentic Self-Love written by Sepideh Irvani and published by Atlantic Publishing Company. This book was released on 2017 with total page 214 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We've all heard the clich: before you can love someone else, you have to love yourself. But what does that actually mean? What does it mean to truly love yourself? Why must you love yourself before you can experience a meaningful relationship? How can you recognize authentic love?Clinical Psychologist, Sepideh Irvani, Psy.D., answers these questions and more in Authentic Self-Love: A Path to Healing the Self and Relationships. Interdisciplinary in nature, Irvani draws on a range of psychological, philosophical, and theological theories and analyzes them alongside secular literary texts to show the reader what it means to authentically love one's self. Distinction is made between the self-loathing of Narcissism and authentic self-love: one is destructive and the other healing, respectively. She offers tips to the reader about how to improve relationships with one's self and others, and provides context for healing. For those struggling to accept themselves and find love in their lives, Irvani offers a fresh, new take on the same old clich. After reading Authentic Self-Love: A Path to Healing the Self and Relationships, you'll be able to critically analyze your life and relationships and transform it to an authentic love for yourself and for others.

Book Synopsis Looking-Glass Wars: Spies on British Screens since 1960 by : Alan Burton
Download or read book Looking-Glass Wars: Spies on British Screens since 1960 written by Alan Burton and published by Vernon Press. This book was released on 2018-01-31 with total page 555 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Looking-Glass Wars: Spies on British Screens since 1960 is a detailed historical and critical overview of espionage in British film and television in the important period since 1960. From that date, the British spy screen was transformed under the influence of the tremendous success of James Bond in the cinema (the spy thriller), and of the new-style spy writing of John le Carré and Len Deighton (the espionage story). In the 1960s, there developed a popular cycle of spy thrillers in the cinema and on television. The new study looks in detail at the cycle which in previous work has been largely neglected in favour of the James Bond films. The study also brings new attention to espionage on British television and popular secret agent series such as Spy Trap, Quiller and The Sandbaggers. It also gives attention to the more ‘realistic’ representation of spying in the film and television adaptations of le Carré and Deighton, and other dramas with a more serious intent. In addition, there is wholly original attention given to ‘nostalgic’ spy fictions on screen, adaptations of classic stories of espionage which were popular in the late 1970s and through the 1980s, and to ‘historical’ spy fiction, dramas which treated ‘real’ cases of espionage and their characters, most notably the notorious Cambridge Spies. Detailed attention is also given to the ‘secret state’ thriller, a cycle of paranoid screen dramas in the 1980s which portrayed the intelligence services in a conspiratorial light, best understood as a reaction to excessive official secrecy and anxieties about an unregulated security service. The study is brought up-to-date with an examination of screen espionage in Britain since the end of the Cold War. The approach is empirical and historical. The study examines the production and reception, literary and historical contexts of the films and dramas. It is the first detailed overview of the British spy screen in its crucial period since the 1960s and provides fresh attention to spy films, series and serials never previously considered.
Book Synopsis Truth and Its Nature (if Any) by : J. Peregrin
Download or read book Truth and Its Nature (if Any) written by J. Peregrin and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-14 with total page 254 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The question how to turn the principles implicitly governing the concept of truth into an explicit definition (or explication) of the concept hence coalesced with the question how to get a finite grip on the infinity of T-sentences. Tarski's famous and ingenious move was to introduce a new concept, satisfaction, which could be, on the one hand, recursively defined, and which, on the other hand, straightforwardly yielded an explication of truth. A surprising 'by-product' of Tarski's effort to bring truth under control was the breathtaking finding that truth is in a precisely defined sense ineffable, that no non trivial language can contain a truth-predicate which would be adequate for the very 4 language . This implied that truth (and consequently semantic concepts to which truth appeared to be reducible) proved itself to be strangely 'language-dependent': we can have a concept of truth-in-L for any language L, but we cannot have a concept of truth applicable to every language. In a sense, this means, as Quine (1969, p. 68) put it, that truth belongs to "transcendental metaphysics", and Tarski's 'scientific' investigations seem to lead us back towards a surprising proximity of some more traditional philosophical views on truth. 3. TARSKI'S THEORY AS A PARADIGM So far Tarski himself. Subsequent philosophers then had to find out what his considerations of the concept of truth really mean and what are their consequences; and this now seems to be an almost interminable task.

This book was released on 2017-10-31 with total page 243 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: True leadership has always been more difficult to maintain in challenging times, but the unique stressors facing organisations throughout the world today call for renewed attention to what constitutes truly positive leadership. In AUTHENTIC LEADERSHIP EFFECTIVENESS for Individuals and Teams Tineke Wulffers combines the best of academic research, with years of personal experience working with leaders and teams, to offer a practical guide on how to develop this type of leadership effectiveness in real life. This book is divided up as follows: Part I - Definition and impact of authentic leadership - considers the need for authentic leadership, gives an overview of what is generally understood by Authentic Leadership. It also focuses on the impact of leadership authenticity on inter-relational trust, on individual and team authentic leadership effectiveness. Part II - Development of authentic leadership - forms the crux of this book. As the development of authentic leadership requires different considerations to what is mostly espoused in the field of leadership development, considerations and criteria for AL development and AL programmes are discussed. This is followed by a high-level and detailed overview of this specific individual and team ALE programme, which might well be a first. Finally, part II concludes with a detailed, followed by two high-level case studies of the effects of the ALE programme under discussion. Part III - Well-known examples of leaders through the lens of AL - even though AL programmes have not really been available before, such leadership can be developed by means of introspection and commitment to further development during a lifetime of life experiences and work episodes.
