Book excerpt: From Crack To The Cross is the true-life story of Tim Murphy, a successful restaurant and hotel executive who climbed to the top of his profession while falling into the darkness of addiction. After being raped as a young teen, dealing with sexual abuse from a priest, dying in a car wreck (and being brought back), and suffering more than twenty-five years of addiction, rehabs, jails and attempted suicide, Murphy turned to God, placing his sorrows in the hands of Jesus and finding light and life after decades of darkness. From Crack to the Cross is a story of miracles, hope, second chances, and the power of faith. It is an enduring testimony to the glory of God.

Download or read book From Crack to Christ written by Kimily Thompson and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2008-07-07 with total page 188 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There is so much to say about a woman who doesnt know the meaning of the word cant. Kimily has the passion to heal, deliver, and set free. God uses this passion to continuously renew her faith, instilling her belief that with Christ all things are possible. Although Kimily has had more than her fair share of obstacles to overcome, she is, what one may call, a Bodacious woman of Faith an individual who quickly arises at the sound of Gods voice, with great conviction. Kimily will not stop short of carrying out her purpose and call in any given season. I dont know if she realizes it, but she has the ability to empower life and prosperity in the life of another in the midst of a mere conversation. This life story is a great testimony of humility, acceptance, grace and love. It is with great zeal that I recommend this book to all readers, young and seasoned. At one time or another, we all will have addictions to overcome. Whether it is drugs, alcohol, sex, or plain negativity, true problems occur when an individual is not willing to face their weaknesses. When weaknesses are not acknowledged and dealt with accordingly, the individual is inevitably suffocated by their own challenges. When reading through the pages of this book, you will witness Kimilys ability to persevere through the miry muck and walk forth in great favor and God given ability. To Kimily Thompson Jenkins, God is our father and He is a fan of your success. Thank you for understanding the process. Youre God Daughter, Absolute (Portia Bryant)
Book Synopsis To And From Crack To Christ: A Sinner In Recovery by : Anonymous Sinner
Download or read book To And From Crack To Christ: A Sinner In Recovery written by Anonymous Sinner and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2018-08-07 with total page 109 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As a child, I was brought up in church and taught Christian values. These valuable lessons would prove useful later in my life as I looked for a way out of a bad situation I was in due to bad decisions that I had made. Questioning my self-worth as a child, I turned away from the church trying to find a place to fit in. Not realizing the extent of how much I did not know at the age of twelve, I started to get lost in the world of drugs and alcohol. My addictions became stronger as I got older and experienced a life where not all things worked the way I hoped they would. While my addictions went from drinking beer and smoking marijuana to smoking crack and drinking anything available, a place to fit in became more of a place of isolation for me as I no longer felt comfortable being around most family members if I had something stronger than just a few beers. This was in most cases when I would get high with other addicts or alone because for me a drink was always better with crack. At least that was the lie I would tell myself, along with the lie that my problem wasn't that bad. Finally, after thirty years of addiction, on June 6, 2006, I hit my rock bottom, but I remembered what I had learned as a child about a power above all other powers. I prayed to the highest power, and God, my Father in heaven, made a way for me to get into a drug-and-alcohol treatment program. I went through the program and took what I needed from it with the understanding that words also have power. Because of my faith and what I had learned in church as a child, I refuse to put the words of man. Addicts suffer from a disease for which there's no cure above the word of God. You are more than a conqueror (Romans 8:37) and By his stripes you are healed (1 Peter 2:24). I do not believe that Jesus died for me and rose from the dead with power over all things except an addiction. I believe He came to conquer ALL sin so that all lost sinners who believed in Him and worked on building a personal relationship with Him could be recovered when He returned.

Then the inconceivable occurs: Billionaires, politicians, and superstars of every kind are suddenly trapped within one man's brilliant and ruthless scenario. Bennett, father of ten, is pulled into the fray. As the danger escalates, Michael is hit with devastating news: After fighting for many years, his wife has succumbed to a terrible disease. As New York descends into chaos, Bennett has lost the great love of his life and faces raising his ten devastated children alone-and rescuing 34 hostages. Day after day, Bennett confronts the most ruthless man he has ever dealt with, a man who kills without hesitation and counters everything the NYPD and FBI throw at him with impunity. As the entire world watches and the tension boils to a searing heat, Bennett has to find a way out-or face responsibility for the greatest debacle in history.
Book Synopsis Properties for Design of Composite Structures by : Neil McCartney

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: PROPERTIES FOR DESIGN OF COMPOSITE STRUCTURES A comprehensive guide to analytical methods and source code to predict the behavior of undamaged and damaged composite materials In Properties for Design of Composite Structures: Theory and Implementation Using Software, distinguished researcher Dr. Neil McCartney delivers a unique and insightful approach to the development of predictive methods for the properties of undamaged and damaged laminated composite materials. The book focuses on presenting compact analytical formulae for several important effective properties—including mechanical, thermal, and electrical—that can be applied to a variety of reinforcement geometries. The author introduces a compact notation that enables an explicit treatment of laminate property determination, including the out-of-plane shear properties required for three-dimensional numerical simulations of structural features using finite and boundary element analyses. There is also a detailed consideration of ply crack closure and a useful study of the interrelationships between the effective thermoelastic constants of damaged laminates. The book also offers: A thorough introduction to the principles and formulae for homogenous materials and applications, including continuum and fracture concepts for homogeneous materials A comprehensive exploration of the properties of undamaged composites, including undamaged composite materials with multiple phases and the properties of a single undamaged lamina Practical discussions of the properties of damaged composites, including matrix cracking in UD composites and damaged laminates Consideration of effects of delamination, fatigue, and environmentally induced damage In-depth examinations of derivations of key results, including the analysis of bridged cracks and stress transfer mechanics for cross-ply and general symmetric laminates Perfect for composite design engineers in all types of material-supplying industries and manufacturing companies, Properties for Design of Composite Structures: Theory and Implementation Using Software will also earn a place in the libraries of undergraduate and graduate students in engineering, aerospace, and materials departments.

Book excerpt: This book is an honest and telling, real-life story of tragedy, abandonment, addiction and loss but ultimately of how deposits of rejection unchecked and uncured left a child still screaming for her father even though her body had matured. This truly is an insignia to the writer of her triumphs and through the extremes of her many challenges, we find all our stories being interwoven into the tapestry of each chapter.

Book Synopsis Nonlinear Crack Models for Nonmetallic Materials by : Alberto Carpinteri
Download or read book Nonlinear Crack Models for Nonmetallic Materials written by Alberto Carpinteri and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 324 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this volume a survey of the most relevant nonlinear crack models is provided, with the purpose of analyzing the nonlinear mechanical effects occurring at the tip of macrocracks in quasi-brittle materials - such as concrete, rocks, ceramics, polymers, high-strength metallic alloys - and in brittle-matrix fibre-reinforced composites. Such local effects, as, for example, plastic deformation, yielding, strain-hardening, strain-softening, mechanical damage, matrix microcracking, aggregate debonding, fibre bridging, fibre slippage, crazing, and so on, are properly described through different simplified models, representing the peculiarities of the phenomena involved. The models are introduced and described separately and then compared in the last part of the book. This volume will be of interest to students, professionals and researchers in the field of nonlinear fracture mechanics.
