Er kritisiert die Vorgehensweisen und die eingeschränkten Perspektiven der heutigen westlichen Forschung vor allem in Bezug auf andere Kulturen. „Sie [die Forscher/ Sozialwissenschaftler] implantieren den Handlungen der Menschen, die sie untersuchen, ungeprüft und unhinterfragt den Sinn, den sie selbst entsprechend den Festlegungen ihrer eigenen Kultur in ihnen sehen[...]“ (Hauck, 2003 S. 12f) Das bedeutet, dass Wissenschaftler ihre Forschung unreflektiert und unkritisch in ihre Theorien umwandeln und diese dann auf die gesamte Welt übertragen. Ob dieser von Hauck eingebrachte Vorwurf auch auf die Geschlechterforschung beziehungsweise auf Teile der Geschlechterforschung zu übertragen ist, damit wird sich diese Arbeit beschäftigen. Zuerst wird in der Arbeit das Konzept des Eurozentrismus vorgestellt, dabei wird auch auf den konzeptuellen Gegenpart, den Ethnozentrismus eingegangen. Anschließend soll die Forschungsfrage „Tritt in der modernen Geschlechterforschung Eurozentrismus ebenfalls auf?“ beantwortet werden. Hierbei kann allerdings nur ein Teil der Geschlechterforschung untersucht werden, da es ansonsten den Rahmen der Arbeit sprengen würde. Eine Untersuchung der gesamten Geschlechterforschung ist auch nicht nötig, da nur das Auftreten, nicht aber das Ausmaß des Eurozentrismus untersucht werden soll.

However, our theoretical understanding of what accounts for this so-called democratic peace is limited. What is so special about democracies that keeps them from fighting fellow democracies, even though they fight wars against (perceived) non-democracies? Knupling contributes to the debate by classifying and synthesising different theoretical explanations for democratic peace at the analytical levels of the state and the international system. He digs deep into the workings of the democratic political system and the orientations of its foreign policy-leaders that culminate in collective action in the international arena. A central theme is that processes of integration -- taking place both within as well as among democracies -- lead to the formation of a common identity. Democracies construct "friends" and "foes", basing their judgment on the way other states resolve their domestic conflicts. Knupling supports his argument with a discussion of conceptual, methodological and epistemological problems of democratic peace.

The reason for this is obvious: the concepts of ‘values’ and ‘goods’ are part of the eudaimonistic tradition, and he famously criticizes eudaimonism for its flawed ‘material’ approach to ethics. But he uses, on several occasions, the traditional teleological language of goods and values. Especially in the Groundwork and the Critique of Practical Reason, Kant develops crucial points on this conceptual basis. Furthermore, he implicitly discusses issues of conditional and unconditional values, subjective and objective values, aesthetic or economic values etc. In recent Kant scholarship, there has been a controversy on the question how moral and nonmoral values are related in Kant’s account of human dignity. This leads to the more fundamental problem if Kant should be seen as a prescriptvist (antirealist) or as subscribing to a more objective rational agency account of goods. This issue and several further questions are addressed in this volume.
