Book excerpt: More than 1,5 million social murders, using minimum 114 genocidal methods and tools, killing even unborn babies, preventing medical treatment… Nazism copycatting… Planned for 8000 years… A neo-modern type of genocide! On July 20, 2016, the regime in Turkey was changed. This change has destroyed almost 300 hundred years of democratic heritage. Rule of law and the other founding principles of Republic which were set by Ataturk have been replaced by a permanent decree regime. Around 1,500,000 citizens from every faction of society have been made SOCIALLY DEAD. Around 100 citizens were unable to tolerate this way of living, suffering a PERMANENT SOCIAL DEATH and unfortunately chose to end their unsustainable lives. Numerous citizens have been killed in prisons, detention and torture centers as a result of the torture they were subjected to. Furthermore, the treatments of numerous citizens are being hindered. Pregnant ladies are being detained and their unborn babies are killed. The massive purge and physical killings made by the decisions of Decrees or individual ministers are shown to the public as if they were only dismissals, but the practical consequences of them are individual SOCIAL KILLINGS. The total number of SOCIAL DEATHS is around 1,500,000. Around 1,500,000 innocent citizens and their descendants have been socially killed. The practice of systematic and mass social killing is a post-modern SOCIAL GENOCIDE. After four years of research, I have identified 114 types of social killing methods and tools. I also sent numerous official claims to the various Turkish public and official institutions and told them to end committing the crime of genocide. In the meantime, the criminals who put the genocide into action also segregated the victims from the rest of society. This was done to prevent the unification of the citizens who were the individual victims of the massive genocide, and also the indirect victims of the genocide, which I estimate to be around 4,000,000. This was also done to prevent the united struggle against such atrocities. This separation allowed genocide criminals to commit the crime more easily. To those who wish, you can act jointly in the fight against these violent crimes against humanity and even against unborn babies. I appeal to you to stand by and defend the rights, dignity, and lives of innocent people against those who commit crimes against humanity.

Book excerpt: Feminists in the Southern Cone countries?Argentina, Chile, and Uruguay?between 1910 and 1930 obliged political leaders to consider gender in labor regulation, civil codes, public health programs, and politics. Feminism thus became a factor in the modernization of theseøgeographically linked but diverse societies in Latin America. Although feminists did not present a unified front in the discussion of divorce, reproductive rights, and public-health schemes to regulate sex and marriage, this work identifies feminism as a trigger for such discussion, which generated public and political debate on gender roles and social change. Asunci¢n Lavrin recounts changes inøgender relations and the role of women in each of the three countries, thereby contributing an enormous amount of new information and incisive analysis to the histories of Argentina, Chile, and Uruguay.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book analyzes the problems that arise when women's rights conflict with the views of conservative organized religion. Specifically, it addresses the legalization - or lack thereof - of divorce and abortion in three recently democratized Catholic countries: Spain, Chile, and Argentina. Offering a vital and timely contribution to political debates on democratic consolidation, social policy, gender, politics and religion, it challenges many of the accepted assumptions and conclusions in these fields, arguing that to understand the political dynamics and policy trajectories on these issues we must first analyze the distribution of both economic and political power. Merike Blofield moves the debate away from a (unitary) focus on values and public opinion to an analysis of how economic, social and political structures give certain actors more power than others. The topics covered should appeal to a broad readership interested in the difficulties of democratic consolidation in Latin America, and the obstacles to social policy reform in a region with such high levels of inequality. The analysis presented in The Politics of Moral Sin also deepens our understanding of why and how European countries have been so successful in limiting the indulgence of organized religion and in promoting women's rights.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Insightful and accessible, A Social History of Modern Spain is the first comprehensive social history of modern Spain in any language. Adrian Shubert analyzes the social development of Spain since 1800. He explores the social conflicts at the root of the Spanish Civil War and how that war and the subsequent changes from democracy to Franco and back again have shaped the social relations of the country. Paying equal attention to the rural and urban worlds and respecting the great regional diversity within Spain, Shubert draws a sophisticated picture of a country struggling with the problems posed by political, economic, and social change. He begins with an overview of the rural economy and the relationship of the people to the land, then moves on to an analysis of the work and social lives of the urban population. He then discusses the changing roles of the clergy, the military, and the various local government, community, and law enforcement officials. A Social History of Modern Spain concludes with an analysis of the dramatic political, economic, and social changes during the Franco regime and during the subsequent return to democracy.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As economic crises, growing inequality and climate change prompt a global debate on the meaning and trajectory of development, increasing attention is focusing on 'social and solidarity economy' as a distinctive approach to sustainable and rights-based development. While we are beginning to understand what social and solidarity economy is, what it promises and how it differs from 'business as usual', we know far less about whether it can really move beyond its fringe status in many countries and regions. Under what conditions can social and solidarity economy scale up and scale out - that is, expand in terms of the growth of social and solidarity economy organizations and enterprises, or spread horizontally within given territories? Bringing together leading researchers, blending theoretical and empirical analysis, and drawing on experiences and case studies from multiple countries and regions, this volume addresses these questions. In so doing, it aims to inform a broad constituency of development actors, including scholars, practitioners, activists and policy makers.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
