There have been many answers to this question. But by producing a series of notably well-structured arguments, economist Mahbub ul Haq’s Reflections on Human Development persuaded readers that the goal should be defined quite simply as the requirement that each society improve the lives of its citizens. If this is the agreed aim, Haq continues, then economic development should be designed to support human development. His well-structured reasoning helped development economists recalibrate much of what had previously been regarded as self-evident; that economic productivity was the main barometer of social well being. The work had a profound effect, and Haq’s thinking helped produce a new understanding of what ‘development’ actually meant. Haq conscientiously mapped out arguments and counter-arguments to persuade readers that development did not simply mean an increase in productivity, but rather an increase in human development – the capability of people to live the lives they want to. By bringing the abstract back to the concrete, Haq reevaluated the neoliberal reasoning that suggested economic development necessarily benefitted everybody. And, by virtue of his strong command of reasoning, Haq showed how economic development provided no guarantees that rich people would spend money on improving health, education or other human development outcomes for the poor.

Real human development and world peace can be achieved only if 'Atma Vikas Yoga Sikshakram' आत्म विकास योग शिक्षाक्रम or mind-developmental education and training called 'MahaManan' is introduced everywhere. If true human development takes place through this mind-developmental education, only then will most human-centered problems and crises be solved. He soon aspired to build a world-class university of reasonable spirituality for true self / mind-development education and self-meditation training. Maharshi called upon all conscious people to extend their hand of cooperation to make this great initiative of human development a success. Along with that, he is also appealing to the government, to protect the next generation from the terrible difficult situation of the future, to make them healthy, rich in knowledge and consciousness, sufficiently developed people, that the government should include this psychological education in the curriculum of every school. At his young age, Maharshi traveled all over the country in search of truth and finally after a long period of penance in the Himalayas, he realized that the root cause of so many sufferings and problems of people is their lack of knowledge and consciousness and illness of body and mind. Most human-centered problems will be solved only if we can get rid of it. Then he developed an excellent human development education system through long-term pursuit and research. It is named - 'महामनन' आत्म-विकास योग शिक्षाक्रम ('MahaManan' self-development curriculum). After that he came down from the Himalayas and started teaching He has written several books with the aim of human development through mind-development. His books are available on other platform including Amazon. If you search the internet, you will find many of his articles, podcasts and videos on human development. In 2021, his research and discoveries on six important topics were published in various international science journals. Besides, he has been giving meditation training to many people in different places almost regularly. Through the Internet, his human development activities and his great doctrine of human liberation are gradually spreading all over the world. And many people have gradually taken his devotees and disciples and started practicing 'MahaManan' Atmavikash Yoga for mind-development.

Book excerpt: For the study, the four SDGs were reviewed as such WOREC has been relentlessly working since twenty six years on women’s health, gender equality, safe migration and advocacy on decent work and climate action in 9 different districts namely Kailali, Dang, Udayapur, Morang, Sunsari, Siraha, Dhanusha, Bardiya and Sindhuli. Though goal 8 and 13 are not being reviewed in HLPF this year, WOREC reviewed these goals being these its expertise areas so that the human and financial resources can be maximised in reviewing the implementation of SDGs at local level. WOREC’s human resources in aforementioned districts were mobilized to carry out focus group discussions and key informant interviews. During the data collection at the grassroots level, the community people were oriented on the basic knowledge on SDGs. Realizing that the local government officers such as women and children officers present in all the districts of Nepal are the key people to implement SDGs, WOREC facilitated orientations on SDGs, making them accountable to its execution. Additionally, awareness was raised among the networks and groups at the grass roots including women human rights defenders.
