Book Synopsis Degradation Processes in Reliability by : Waltraud Kahle
Download or read book Degradation Processes in Reliability written by Waltraud Kahle and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2016-06-13 with total page 238 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Degradation process" refers to many types of reliability models, which correspond to various kinds of stochastic processes used for deterioration modeling. This book focuses on the case of a univariate degradation model with a continuous set of possible outcomes. The envisioned univariate models have one single measurable quantity which is assumed to be observed over time. The first three chapters are each devoted to one degradation model. The last chapter illustrates the use of the previously described degradation models on some real data sets. For each of the degradation models, the authors provide probabilistic results and explore simulation tools for sample paths generation. Various estimation procedures are also developed.

Book Synopsis Lubrication Degradation Mechanisms by : Sanya Mathura
Download or read book Lubrication Degradation Mechanisms written by Sanya Mathura and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2020-12-30 with total page 86 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In industry, owners, engineers and workers have struggled with lubricant degradation and its effects on their equipment. The purpose of Lubrication Degradation Mechanisms: A Complete Guide is to help personnel to understand the reasons behind the degradation of their lubricant, determine methods to identify the onset of degradation and reduce or eliminate lubricant degradation within their equipment. One of the most common forms of lubricant degradation is oxidation. However, this is not the only method by which a lubricant degrades. By understanding the differences between degradation patterns, personnel can employ specific tasks / tests to aid in their identification of the type of degradation and the factors responsible. The aim of this book is to educate facility personnel on the methods of degradation and ways in which it can be reduced or eliminated while keeping an eye on the cost of operation.

Book Synopsis Reliability Growth by : Panel on Reliability Growth Methods for Defense Systems
Download or read book Reliability Growth written by Panel on Reliability Growth Methods for Defense Systems and published by National Academy Press. This book was released on 2015-03-01 with total page 235 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A high percentage of defense systems fail to meet their reliability requirements. This is a serious problem for the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD), as well as the nation. Those systems are not only less likely to successfully carry out their intended missions, but they also could endanger the lives of the operators. Furthermore, reliability failures discovered after deployment can result in costly and strategic delays and the need for expensive redesign, which often limits the tactical situations in which the system can be used. Finally, systems that fail to meet their reliability requirements are much more likely to need additional scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and to need more spare parts and possibly replacement systems, all of which can substantially increase the life-cycle costs of a system. Beginning in 2008, DOD undertook a concerted effort to raise the priority of reliability through greater use of design for reliability techniques, reliability growth testing, and formal reliability growth modeling, by both the contractors and DOD units. To this end, handbooks, guidances, and formal memoranda were revised or newly issued to reduce the frequency of reliability deficiencies for defense systems in operational testing and the effects of those deficiencies. "Reliability Growth" evaluates these recent changes and, more generally, assesses how current DOD principles and practices could be modified to increase the likelihood that defense systems will satisfy their reliability requirements. This report examines changes to the reliability requirements for proposed systems; defines modern design and testing for reliability; discusses the contractor's role in reliability testing; and summarizes the current state of formal reliability growth modeling. The recommendations of "Reliability Growth" will improve the reliability of defense systems and protect the health of the valuable personnel who operate them.

Book Synopsis Reliability Modelling and Optimization of Warm Standby Systems by : Rui Peng
Download or read book Reliability Modelling and Optimization of Warm Standby Systems written by Rui Peng and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-05-02 with total page 166 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book introduces the reliability modelling and optimization of warm standby systems. Warm standby is an attractive redundancy technique, as it consumes less energy than hot standby and switches into the active state faster than cold standby. Since a warm standby component experiences different failure rates in the standby state and active state, the reliability evaluation is challenging and the existing works are only restricted to very special cases. By adapting the decision diagrams, this book proposes the methodology to evaluate the reliability of different types of warm standby systems and studies the reliability optimization. Compared with existing works, the proposed methods allow the system to have an arbitrary number of components and allow the failure time distribution of components to observe arbitrary distributions. From this book, the readers can not only learn how to evaluate and optimize the reliability of warm standby systems but also use the methods to study the reliability of other complex systems.
