Book Synopsis Fixed Point Methods for the Complementarity Problem by : P. K. Subramanian
Download or read book Fixed Point Methods for the Complementarity Problem written by P. K. Subramanian and published by . This book was released on 1985 with total page 24 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This paper is concerned with iterative procedures for the monotone complementarity problem. These iterative methods consist of findng fixed points of appropriate continuous maps. In the case of the linear complementarity problem, it is shown that the problem is solvable if and only if the sequence of iterates is bounded in which case summability methods are used to find a solution of the nonlinear complementarity problem satisfying certain regularity conditions for which the problem has a nonempty bounded solution set. Keywords: Monotone operators; Operators(mathematics). (Author).

Book excerpt: Fixed Points: Algorithms and Applications covers the proceedings of the First International Conference on Computing Fixed Points with Applications, held in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at Clemson University, Clemson, South Carolina on June 26-28, 1974. This book is composed of 21 chapters and starts with reviews of finding roots of polynomials by pivoting procedures and the relations between convergence and labeling in approximation algorithm. The next chapters deal with the principles of complementary pivot theory and the Markovian decision chains; the method of continuation for Brouwer fixed point calculation; a fixed point approach to stability in cooperative games; and computation of fixed points in a nonconvex region. Other chapters discuss a computational comparison of fixed point algorithms, the fundamentals of union jack triangulations, and some aspects of Mann’s iterative method for approximating fixed points. The final chapters consider the application of fixed point algorithms to the analysis of tax policies and the pricing for congestion in telephone networks. This book will prove useful to mathematicians, computer scientists, and advance mathematics students.

Book Synopsis An Introduction to Nonlinear Analysis and Fixed Point Theory by : Hemant Kumar Pathak
Download or read book An Introduction to Nonlinear Analysis and Fixed Point Theory written by Hemant Kumar Pathak and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-05-19 with total page 830 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book systematically introduces the theory of nonlinear analysis, providing an overview of topics such as geometry of Banach spaces, differential calculus in Banach spaces, monotone operators, and fixed point theorems. It also discusses degree theory, nonlinear matrix equations, control theory, differential and integral equations, and inclusions. The book presents surjectivity theorems, variational inequalities, stochastic game theory and mathematical biology, along with a large number of applications of these theories in various other disciplines. Nonlinear analysis is characterised by its applications in numerous interdisciplinary fields, ranging from engineering to space science, hydromechanics to astrophysics, chemistry to biology, theoretical mechanics to biomechanics and economics to stochastic game theory. Organised into ten chapters, the book shows the elegance of the subject and its deep-rooted concepts and techniques, which provide the tools for developing more realistic and accurate models for a variety of phenomena encountered in diverse applied fields. It is intended for graduate and undergraduate students of mathematics and engineering who are familiar with discrete mathematical structures, differential and integral equations, operator theory, measure theory, Banach and Hilbert spaces, locally convex topological vector spaces, and linear functional analysis.

Book Synopsis Fixed Point Iterative Methods for Linear Complementarity Problems in American Option Pricing by : Tapiwa Maswera
Download or read book Fixed Point Iterative Methods for Linear Complementarity Problems in American Option Pricing written by Tapiwa Maswera and published by . This book was released on 2017 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The linear complementarity formulation for American option pricing is studied. In particular, fixed point solution methods from literature are considered. Here simplified proofs for convergence criterion are provided. Further generalizations and modifications are also suggested alongside more tractable convergence analysis. Alternative formulations for the option pricing problem are also surveyed. These will be in the form of the Chapman-Kolmogorov lattice methods and the Modified Mellin transform framework. Some numerical experiments are then conducted for comparison purposes.
