Are you ready to begin your journey to truth with courage, determination, faith, and trust? Like you, author Amenti Marakita knew that she wasn’t living her ultimate life. Restricted by feelings of dissatisfaction and a general sense that she just didn’t fit in, she knew that something had to change. She needed strength and motivation to create happiness as an adult. Motherhood was her foundation, and secretarial work was her bread and butter, but she wasn’t satisfied. She knew that it would take a leap of faith for things to really change. She took her first step to a new life by opening herself up to the world of natural therapies. She valued the process of working through challenges with various modalities and enjoying the rewards on the other side. She accepted the invitation to explore her reality and experience her true potential as a woman. In Close Your Eyes and Wake Up, Marakita, a Kinergetics practitioner and instructor, shares her guidance with those who are ready to leave the status quo behind and venture boldly into the unknown. Kinergetics opened her heart to a world of happiness within herself by allowing her programmed self to fall away. Book excerpt: In every heart there is a thirst for truth. It does not matter how you are or what you are. People may think it is impossible to awaken to your real self, but it is possible right here, right now, for everyone. There are absolutely no boundaries in this—absolutely none. Self-created boundaries are just excuses; that is all! —Gurpreet Many spiritual seekers strive for self-realization; that awakened state that is so difficult to achieve. To assist in that search, Wake Up! compiles the teachings of Gurpreet, an awakened teacher who introduces you to your inner heart qualities. Gurpreet’s simple, profound and universal understanding can awaken you to your real self, your higher self. Divided into two sections, this compilation of Gurpreet’s knowledge and insight can help you see your hidden patterns, your created self, and your ego. The first section contains a selection of questions and answers gathered from Gurpreet’s retreats held in 2011 and 2012. The second section offers a discourse on connections she has had with those seeking self-realization, addressing a wide range of issues from the mundane to the transcendent. Through her wisdom, Gurpreet shows you how to recognize your belief systems, your hidden patterns, and your ego/person and how to embrace everything you are in a warm, loving, kind way on the path to self-realization. Praise for Wake Up! “The simplicity and directness of both Gurpreet and her words will ground the reader deeply in the heart.” —Mark Farmer, PhD, assistant professor of classical studies, Valparaiso University

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A heartbreaking, wildly inventive, and moving novel narrated by a teenage runaway, from the bestselling author of Midwives and The Sandcastle Girls. Close Your Eyes, Hold Hands is the story of Emily Shepard, a homeless teen living in an igloo made of ice and trash bags filled with frozen leaves. Half a year earlier, a nuclear plant in Vermont's Northeast Kingdom had experienced a cataclysmic meltdown, and both of Emily's parents were killed. Devastatingly, her father was in charge of the plant, and the meltdown may have been his fault. Was he drunk when it happened? Thousands of people are forced to flee their homes in the Kingdom; rivers and forests are destroyed; and Emily feels certain that as the daughter of the most hated man in America, she is in danger. So instead of following the social workers and her classmates after the meltdown, Emily takes off on her own for Burlington, where she survives by stealing, sleeping on the floor of a drug dealer's apartment, and inventing a new identity for herself -- an identity inspired by her favorite poet, Emily Dickinson. When Emily befriends a young homeless boy named Cameron, she protects him with a ferocity she didn't know she had. But she still can't outrun her past, can't escape her grief, can't hide forever—and so she comes up with the only plan that she can. A story of loss, adventure, and the search for friendship in the wake of catastrophe, Close Your Eyes, Hold Hands is one of Chris Bohjalian’s finest novels to date—breathtaking, wise, and utterly transporting.

Appearing as goddess and demon, gate and pillar, garden and tree, hovering sky and containing vessel, the Feminine is seen as an essential factor in the dialectical relation of individual consciousness, symbolized by the child, to the ungraspable matrix, symbolized by the Great Mother. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A philosopher argues that we know little about our own inner lives. Do you dream in color? If you answer Yes, how can you be sure? Before you recount your vivid memory of a dream featuring all the colors of the rainbow, consider that in the 1950s researchers found that most people reported dreaming in black and white. In the 1960s, when most movies were in color and more people had color television sets, the vast majority of reported dreams contained color. The most likely explanation for this, according to the philosopher Eric Schwitzgebel, is not that exposure to black-and-white media made people misremember their dreams. It is that we simply don't know whether or not we dream in color. In Perplexities of Consciousness, Schwitzgebel examines various aspects of inner life (dreams, mental imagery, emotions, and other subjective phenomena) and argues that we know very little about our stream of conscious experience. Drawing broadly from historical and recent philosophy and psychology to examine such topics as visual perspective, and the unreliability of introspection, Schwitzgebel finds us singularly inept in our judgments about conscious experience.

Book excerpt: Your dreams hold the key to a better, fuller life. There is a reason we dream at night. It's not random nonsense. When we are dreaming, we are thinking on a much deeper, more insightful level than when we're awake. When we're dreaming, we're actually problem solving...it's just in a different language. Our minds are speaking to us in codes: warning, helping, and guiding us through our constantly evolving situations in life. The mind, through dreams, is trying to alert us to problems it wants fixed. The truth is, our best thinking isn't done in the shower, it's done while we dream. In fact, when we say, "Let me sleep on it," what we're really saying is, "Let me dream on it." In this easy-to-use guide, renowned dream analyst Lauri Quinn Loewenberg gives you the tools to interpret the often confounding language of dreams. You will learn how to: * unlock the hidden dream communications your mind wants you to know * understand commonly occurring people, places and animals as extensions of your personality * decipher the real meaning behind nightmares like falling, drowning, and being chased * discover the big messages in seemingly small dream elements as Lauri guides you through dozens of real-life dreams * use your dreams as a tool to solve your everyday problems and effect real change in your life and relationships * reference the most important dream symbols with a comprehensive dream dictionary

Book excerpt: Courtney Carver shows us the power of simplicity to improve our health, build more meaningful relationships, and relieve stress in our professional and personal lives. We are often on a quest for more—we give in to pressure every day to work more, own more, and do more. For Carver, this constant striving had to come to a stop when she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Stress was like gasoline on the fire of symptoms, and it became clear that she needed to root out the physical and psychological clutter that were the source of her debt and discontent. In this book, she shows us how to pursue practical minimalism so we can create more with less—more space, more time, and even more love. Carver invites us to look at the big picture, discover what's most important to us, and reclaim lightness and ease by getting rid of all the excess things.
