Auf der Ebene der politischen Willensbildung ist daruber hinaus noch ein weiterer signifikanter Veranderungsdruck gegeben, namlich die Verwirklichung geschlechterdemokratischer Strukturen.Minderheiten in einem veranderten gesellschaftlichen Umfeld sind Inhalt eines dritten Themenschwerpunktes. Analysiert werden einerseits die Vorteile fur eine Gesellschaft, die sich dem "diversity"-Gedanken verpflichtet fuhlt, andererseits aber auch die Herausforderungen, die mit der Umsetzung dieses gesellschaftspolitischen Ansatzes verbunden sind. Im Zentrum dieser Uberlegungen stehen insbesondere Religionsvielfalt und Multikulturalitat.

Created in an age in which careful study of the heavens served a liturgical purpose—to reckon Christian feast days and seasons accurately and thus reflect a “heavenly” order—the diagrams of celestial bodies in the Handbook of 809 are extraordinary signifiers of the intersection of Christian art and classical astronomy. Ramírez-Weaver shows how, by studying this lavishly painted and carefully executed manuscript, we gain a unique understanding of early medieval astronomy and its cultural significance. Zudem unterbrechen Frauen in Westdeutschland ihre Erwerbstätigkeit länger als Frauen in Ostdeutschland - auch 20 Jahre nach der Wiedervereinigung. Dies scheint indes weniger der unterschiedlichen Sozialisation geschuldet als unterschiedlichen institutionellen Regelungen. Schließlich hängt der Wiedereinstieg von Müttern nach einer familienbedingten Erwerbsunterbrechung auch von den Charakteristika der angebotenen Stellen ab. Hier zeigt sich: Neben der Entlohnung spielen auch nicht-monetäre Eigenschaften der Arbeitsstelle eine wichtige Rolle - insbesondere solche, die Einfluss auf das individuelle Zeitbudget haben.
