He laments that Mrs. Wilson's husband has no confidence in his methods and may refuse to continue paying to treatment after September. Since the family has financial means, Jackson explains, "as you are not poor an there are others who are sick who are poor I feel that I should not be justified in making your daughter a guest in my house. She is doing very nicely and should she stay long enough would get thoroughly well. She is young and inexperienced and needs discipline. Under the circumstances I do the best I can for her. So far she has behaved with very great propriety though she is vivacious and quite taking in her manners but I have her confidence in the main and I shall do the best for her I may." The letter is accompanied by an itemized receipt for board and treatment from July 17 through September 4.
