Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Get the latest research on the processes underlying the long term effects of psychological and emotional abuse The effects of the emotional abuse of children are not necessarily seen immediately. Evidence shows that this type of maltreatment to be perhaps as damaging as other, more obvious forms of abuse. Childhood Emotional Abuse: Mediating and Moderating Processes Affecting Long-Term Impact provides the latest new data on processes underlying the long term effects of psychological and emotional abuse. This comprehensive book presents cutting edge research that focuses on the who, why, and how of emotional abuse and its negative impact across the life span. This valuable resource combines theory and research in exploring important mediators and moderators of the long term impact of child emotional abuse. Childhood Emotional Abuse: Mediating and Moderating Processes Affecting Long-Term Impact offers insight into exciting new research that highlights emotional abuse impact across biological, intrapersonal, and interpersonal domains. Mediators examined include alterations in the stress response system, cognitive distortions and negative thoughts, maladaptive interpersonal schemes, and disturbances in psychological health which impact spousal relationships. Gender and race are discussed in detail as important moderators. This important book may be an essential first step in finding possible explanations for the persistence of these negative effects. The topics in Childhood Emotional Abuse: Mediating and Moderating Processes Affecting Long-Term Impact include: a comprehensive review of possible neurodevelopmental consequences of childhood emotional abuse biological consequences of abuse and mistreatment the link between childhood emotional abuse and later vulnerability to depression effects of emotional abuse on subsequent interpersonal relationships—including ways of handling conflict and risk for dating abuse the impact of emotional abuse on later marital satisfaction Childhood Emotional Abuse: Mediating and Moderating Processes Affecting Long-Term Impact is a crucial one-of-a-kind reference for researchers studying long term effects of child abuse, and is also useful for psychologists, social workers, and counselors working with child abuse survivors.
Book Synopsis Measures of Personality and Social Psychological Attitudes by : John P. Robinson
Download or read book Measures of Personality and Social Psychological Attitudes written by John P. Robinson and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 769 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Measures of Personality and Social Psychological Attitudes: Volume 1 in Measures of Social Psychological Attitudes Series provides a comprehensive guide to the most promising and useful measures of important social science concepts. This book is divided into 12 chapters and begins with a description of the Measures of Personality and Social Psychological Attitudes Project's background and the major criteria for scale construction. The subsequent chapters review measures of "response set"; the scales dealing with the most general affective states, including life satisfaction and happiness; and the measured of self-esteem. These topics are followed by discussions of measures of social anxiety, which is conceived a major inhibitor of social interaction, as well as the negative states of depression and loneliness. Other chapters examine the separate dimensions of alienation, the predictive value of interpersonal trust and attitudes in studies of occupational choice and racial attitude change, and the attitude scales related to locus of control. The final chapters look into the measures related to authoritarianism, androgyny, and values. This book is of great value to social and political scientists, psychologists, nurses, social workers, non-academic professionals, and students.

Book Synopsis Transversity 2005 by : Dr. Vincenzo Barone
Download or read book Transversity 2005 written by Dr. Vincenzo Barone and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2006 with total page 354 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The notion of transversity in hadronic physics has been with us for over 25 years. Intriguing though it might have been, for much of that time transversity remained an intangible and remote object, of interest principally to a few theoreticians. In recent years transversity and transverse-spin effects in general have grown as both theoretical and experimental areas of active research. This increasing attention has now matured into a thriving field with a driving force of its own. The ever-growing bulk of data on asymmetries in collisions involving transversely polarised hadrons demands a more solid and coherent theoretical basis for its description. Indeed, it now appears rather clear that transversity and other closely related properties play a significant role in such phenomena. As part of a Ministry-funded inter-university Research Project, this workshop was organised to gather together experimentalists and theoreticians engaged in investigating the nature of transverse spin in hadronic physics, with the intent of favouring the exchange of up-to-date theoretical and experimental ideas and news on the subject. Over 70 physicists took part and very nearly all the major experiments involved in transverse-spin studies were officially represented, as too were the main theory groups working in the field. New results and new analyses sparked many interesting and lively discussions.

Book Synopsis The Fractional Trigonometry by : Carl F. Lorenzo
Download or read book The Fractional Trigonometry written by Carl F. Lorenzo and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2016-11-14 with total page 454 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Addresses the rapidly growing field of fractional calculus and provides simplified solutions for linear commensurate-order fractional differential equations The Fractional Trigonometry: With Applications to Fractional Differential Equations and Science is the result of the authors’ work in fractional calculus, and more particularly, in functions for the solutions of fractional differential equations, which is fostered in the behavior of generalized exponential functions. The authors discuss how fractional trigonometry plays a role analogous to the classical trigonometry for the fractional calculus by providing solutions to linear fractional differential equations. The book begins with an introductory chapter that offers insight into the fundamentals of fractional calculus, and topical coverage is then organized in two main parts. Part One develops the definitions and theories of fractional exponentials and fractional trigonometry. Part Two provides insight into various areas of potential application within the sciences. The fractional exponential function via the fundamental fractional differential equation, the generalized exponential function, and R-function relationships are discussed in addition to the fractional hyperboletry, the R1-fractional trigonometry, the R2-fractional trigonometry, and the R3-trigonometric functions. The Fractional Trigonometry: With Applications to Fractional Differential Equations and Science also: Presents fractional trigonometry as a tool for scientists and engineers and discusses how to apply fractional-order methods to the current toolbox of mathematical modelers Employs a mathematically clear presentation in an e ort to make the topic broadly accessible Includes solutions to linear fractional differential equations and generously features graphical forms of functions to help readers visualize the presented concepts Provides effective and efficient methods to describe complex structures The Fractional Trigonometry: With Applications to Fractional Differential Equations and Science is an ideal reference for academic researchers, research engineers, research scientists, mathematicians, physicists, biologists, and chemists who need to apply new fractional calculus methods to a variety of disciplines. The book is also appropriate as a textbook for graduate- and PhD-level courses in fractional calculus. Carl F. Lorenzo is Distinguished Research Associate at the NASA Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, Ohio. His past positions include chief engineer of the Instrumentation and Controls Division and chief of the Advanced Controls Technology and Systems Dynamics branches at NASA. He is internationally recognized for his work in the development and application of the fractional calculus and fractional trigonometry. Tom T. Hartley, PhD, is Emeritus Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at The University of Akron. Dr Hartley is a recognized expert in fractional-order systems, and together with Carl Lorenzo, has solved fundamental problems in the area including Riemann’s complementary-function initialization function problem. He received his PhD in Electrical Engineering from Vanderbilt University.
