Book excerpt: Encouraging a daily encounter with God in the Book of Proverbs, A Season with Solomon undertakes a determined pursuit of Christ's rich wisdom--contrasting the Lord's enduringly wise ways without own problematic tendencies, In striking contrast to the typical approach of accumulating mere head knowledge, Jesus undertakes our education for God. He trains our heart, not just our mind, to fulfill His will and our responsibilities in time and eternity. The intended result? "You will find favor and good success in the sight of God and man (3:4)" as individuals, parents, children, friends, work associates, church members and citizens in the larger community! A Season with Solomon thus engages eager learners who desire to make a difference in this world by first being made different in obviously significant and seemingly mundane ways through Christ-honoring wisdom.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Kay Arthur, whose books in the New Inductive Study Series have sold more than 1.4 million copies, joins Pete De Lacy in this look at three short, not-to-be-missed gems of the Old Testament: Ecclesiastes, Song of Solomon, and Lamentations. By learning and practicing the techniques of observation, interpretation, and application, readers will discover for themselves the signs of divine inspiration in these unique books and understand how to walk with God in every season. Digging into Ecclesiastes, readers will wrestle with life’s apparent inconsistencies and futility and find clear pointers to the ultimate meaning of life. Exploring the Song of Solomon, they will determine whether the message pertains mainly to the physical and emotional bonds of marriage, to Israel’s relationship to God, to the church’s relationship to Jesus, or to the individual believer’s relationship to Christ. In Lamentations, readers will see the avoidable tragedies caused by sin and the never-ending covenant love of God.

Book excerpt: This edition of the Testament of Solomon is a complete and accurate reprint of the original translation of ancient manuscripts by F.C. Conybeare first printed in 1898. It contains all Conybeare's original notes and commentary, including the Greek characters he footnoted for the reader's consideration. Beware of other editions of this work that do not contain all the original text. The Testament of Solomon is a pseudepigraphical work attributed to King Solomon the Wise of the Old Testament. Written in the first-person narrative, the book tells the story of the creation of the magical ring of King Solomon and how Solomon's ring was used to bind and control demons, including Beelzebub. In this book of King Solomon, the discourses between the King and the various spirits are told, and the story shows how Solomon uses his wisdom to withstand the demons' tricks and guile and enlist their aid in the building of his temple. The spells and seals of Solomon used by the King to bind the spirits are detailed, which makes this work a book of Solomon's magic, similar in nature to the Lesser Key of Solomon the King and the Greater Key of Solomon the King, which both are King Solomon books of magic and contain various talismans of Solomon, including the secret seal of Solomon. The manuscripts from which this work was discovered date from the 15th, 16th, and 17th centuries. All were written in Greek. This dating makes most experts believe that the work is medieval. But some scholars, including D.C. Duling, argue that it is likely that the work comes from the 5th or 6th centuries. The various manuscripts used to source the work all date to medieval times, but the text itself, as well as references to other works, indicate the Testament is much older. For example, in the Dialogue of Timothy and Aquila, there is a direct reference to the Testament of Solomon. The Dialogue purports to have been written during the Archbishopric of Cyril in 444 C.E., and therefore, its reference would date the Testament before that time. Similarly, in the early 4th century Gnostic text On the Origin of the World, references to the book of Solomon and his 49 demons are made. No matter the date, the text provides an immensely interesting description of how King Solomon tamed various demons to build his temple. The text includes predictions of the coming of Christ, as one demon explains to Solomon that while he may be bound, the only thing that can truly take his power away is the man born from a virgin who will be crucified by the Jews.

Book excerpt: After the birth of the Jewish nation, but before the brutal string of invading Pagan armies, there arose an Israel a king whose splendor was so rich, his very name is still spoken with awe: Solomon. Inheriting and expanding a magnificent kingdom from his father, King David, Solomon, attained both spiritual and material wealth, confounding his enemies and thrilling his own people. The Bible claims there will never be another like him. His legacy includes three canonical works that flowed from God to his pen - Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and Song of Solomon. Strangely, these three books are rarely examined by modern scholars, but longtime author and defender of the faith, the late Henry Morris, provided an invaluable commentary. His examination of Solomon's life, and the insights into the writings themselves, give the Bible student a worthy tour through the life of a most remarkable man. 240 pages • 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 • Trade paper

Book excerpt: Mike first began to develop his idea for the book in 1993. For over 15 years he has made notes and stashed them in a file and written a little here and there. He has almost always worked two jobs and his busy life did not leave much time to write, but he could never quit thinking about it. Finally he decided to finish it, if for no other reason than he could get the idea out of his head and quit daydreaming about it. In ancient Israel, God granted one wish to a Solomon and he became the richest and wisest of kings. What if God did it again, but this time it was for a teenager named Solomon Sanchez? Instead of choosing wisdom, what if he chose to be the greatest guitarist in the world? Anyone who has ever fantasized about being rich and famous, anyone who has dreamed of being a rock star, anyone who has enjoyed playing music video games will enjoy this story. It is a wild and fun ride with many twists and turns. There is much to gain from Solomon and his many mistakes and successes.

Book excerpt: In The Tao of Solomon, Rabbi Rami Shapiro unravels the golden philosophical threads of wisdom in the book of Ecclesiastes, reweaving the vibrant book of the Bible into a 21st century tapestry. Shapiro explores the timeless truth that we are merely a drop in the endless river of time, and reveals a path to finding personal and spiritual fulfillment even as we embrace our impermanent place in the universe. The Tao of Solomon is not a new translation of Ecclesiastes; rather, it is a re-visioning of the sacred text that acknowledges that the only constant in life is change, that nothing lasts forever, and that only by releasing our hold on permanence can we finding personal peace.

Book excerpt: Were you told that the Songs of Solomon is a love story between Solomon and one of the many women he had in his life? Well, now it is time for the truth to be revealed. This story has nothing to do with Solomon and a woman, but everything to do with YAHUAH and his people, Israel. Here we take a look at the scriptures and examine what they have been telling us since the beginning; somehow, we missed it. In this book, you will: Gain knowledge that may be difficult to accept. (It may cause you not to want to continue reading); You may, in the end, still find it impossible to believe. However, one thing is for sure; once you learn this truth when you attempt to go back to what you thought was right; your conscience will bother you. The scripture tells us, you shall know the truth, and the truth will set you free. Are you ready for the truth? Are you ready to be set free? If you are not prepared then perhaps you should move on. However, if you think you can handle the facts, scroll up to buy and get your book right away.
