Book Synopsis CALL and complexity – short papers from EUROCALL 2019 by : Fanny Meunier
Download or read book CALL and complexity – short papers from EUROCALL 2019 written by Fanny Meunier and published by Research-publishing.net. This book was released on 2019-12-09 with total page 433 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The theme selected for the 2019 EuroCALL conference held in Louvain-la-Neuve was ‘CALL and complexity’. As languages are known to be intrinsically and linguistically complex, as are the many determinants of learning (additional) languages, complexity is viewed as a challenge to be embraced collectively. The 2019 conference allowed us to pay tribute to providers of CALL solutions and to recognize the complexity of their task. We hope you will enjoy reading this volume as it offers a rich glimpse into the numerous debates that took place during EuroCALL 2019. We look forward to continuing those debates and discussions with you at the next EuroCALL conferences!

The robot soccer competitions started in 1996, and FIRA was est- lished on, June 5, 1997. The robot soccer competitions are aimed at promoting the spirit of science and technology to the younger generation. The congress is a forum to share ideas and future directions of technologies, and to enlarge the human networks in the robotics area. The objectives of the FIRA Cup and Congress are to explore the technical dev- opments and achievements in the field of robotics, and provide participants with a robot festival including technical presentations, robot soccer competitions, and exh- its under the theme “Where Theory and Practice Meet.” FIRA India aims to propagate and popularize robotics and robotic competitions across India.
Book Synopsis The World Yearbook of Robotics Research and Development by : Sbornik Statei
Download or read book The World Yearbook of Robotics Research and Development written by Sbornik Statei and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-04-17 with total page 566 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How quickly the technological 'flavour of the month' changes. At the beginning of the 1980's many saw 'robotics' as being something of a pana cea for those problems in the manufacturing industries which had been exacerbated by the world recession. Those working at the time in the field of robotics stressed that robots themselves were only part of the solution. Yet in many quarters the 'hype' for the new technology apparently knew few bounds, resulting, inexorably, in many industries painfully discover ing for themselves a new realism, closely followed by disillusionment. In its wider sense the term 'robotics' covers an extremely broad spec trum of technologies ranging from extremely flexible, highly sensory and integrated systems capable of handling a very diverse product range, through to comparatively inflexible, high volume systems which can merely handle slightly different variations of the same basic product. As a result of the one 'buzzword' referring to such a variety of actual system types, the disillusionment which started to become apparent during the early 1980's acted as something of a double edged sword. A given com pany might consider a particular robotics-based technological solution to its production problems, find that it was unsuitable, and so renounce all robotics approaches as inappropriate. Yet just because one position on that spectrum of technological solutions was unsuitable for the company should not have led them to assume that there was no other robotics solu tion that was appropriate.

Book Synopsis Wearable Robotics: Challenges and Trends by : Maria Chiara Carrozza
Download or read book Wearable Robotics: Challenges and Trends written by Maria Chiara Carrozza and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-10-13 with total page 542 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book reports on advanced topics in the areas of wearable robotics research and practice. It focuses on new technologies, including neural interfaces, soft wearable robots, sensors and actuators technologies, and discusses important regulatory challenges, as well as clinical and ethical issues. Based on the 4th International Symposium on Wearable Robotics, WeRob2018, held October 16-20, 2018, in Pisa, Italy, the book addresses a large audience of academics and professionals working in government, industry, and medical centers, and end-users alike. It provides them with specialized information and with a source of inspiration for new ideas and collaborations. It discusses exemplary case studies highlighting practical challenges related to the implementation of wearable robots in a number of fields. One of the focus is on clinical applications, which was encouraged by the colocation of WeRob2018 with the International Conference on Neurorehabilitation, INCR2018. Additional topics include space applications and assistive technologies in the industry. The book merges together the engineering, medical, ethical and political perspectives, thus offering a multidisciplinary, timely snapshot of the field of wearable technologies.
