The truth is the real enemy is between your ears. Thinking outside the box, scaling and partnerships can sabotage your brand. Even your company mission can undermine it. You Can't Ride Two Horses With One Ass turns conventional brand thinking on its ear and teaches you a new ethos: How to grow your business by protecting your brand. Much like category-killers Southwest Airlines, Google and many of the author's own clients do, you'll learn how to think like a brand, not a business; be more desirable, instead of more available; detect organizational blind spots that can subvert the brand; and build a bridge between company purpose and customer promise-the missing link to exceptional cultural engagement and brand fidelity.

Book excerpt: "Thirty Years a Slave" gives a glimpse the pitiable conditions of slaves, their inhuman treatment by their owners, the politics of slave markets and their complex relationships with the white population. In this book the author Louis Hughes dwells upon the intimate aspects of his own life like the painful separation with his mother and his marriage, his personal tragedies and his attempts of running away from the bondage of slavery. "Narrative of the Life of J.D. Green, A Runaway Slave" is another remarkable autobiography by Jacob D. Green which dwells on his three prominent attempts to escape in 1839, 1846, and 1848 and his perseverance in the face of failures. Louis Hughes was born on a Virginian Plantation to a mixed race parents with a Black slave mother and sold in Richmond slave market in 1844. While still in slavery he learnt about medicines from his master and helped his fellow slaves. After emancipation Hughes became a successful businessman in Wisconsin and wrote his autobiography. Jacob D. Green was born into slavery with 113 other slaves on a plantation in Kentucky with only his mother as family. Green did many "awful" things like seeking a murderous revenge from a man who thrashed him and making daring choices that would eventually lead to his freedom.

But, in many organizations, attempts to handle culture issues remain “squishy,” unfocused, and unlikely to bring any value or results. Now, IBM’s leading experts reveal the way to make culture tangible to everyone involved—and how to effectively deal with a variety of culture challenges. Can Two Rights Make a Wrong? leverages the lessons learned during IBM’s $3.5 billion acquisition of PricewaterhouseCoopers Consulting: insight that IBM has crystallized into a powerful methodology for transforming business culture. The authors introduce “Business Practices,” an actionable surrogate for “culture” that business people can identify with, gauge, and act upon. Then, one step at a time, you’ll learn how to apply IBM’s practical culture transformation techniques in your unique environment. You’ll discover common patterns that lead to culture clashes so you can resolve or, better yet, prevent them. You’ll learn to clarify your expectations so people really “get” it—and do it. You’ll gain the way to measure culture change progress in terms everyone can understand and buy into. Whether you’re involved with M&As, joint ventures, major transformation, internal restructuring, or any other initiative where culture is important, this book can help you take culture from a worrisome risk to a competitive advantage.
