Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In writing this book, I had wanted to explore my thoughts and beliefs as to why I always felt that I was given a number at birth? Was this strictly in my imaginary mind and not to be considered real? Is there anybody else that feels the same way as I do? Was it just pure luck, coincidence, fate, or a guardian angel that was looking after me? Why had I escaped death on several occasions? Was it my own quick thinking process and reaction time that was my salvation? Could it possibly be a higher power imposing HIS will on my body and its destruction time table then quickly interceding? I couldn't for the life of me, figure out why in the eminent fate that was to befall me, that I had escaped it grasp? I couldn't figure out why I had a near death experience, on several occasions, only still to be here? Was not my number up yet? Was there a Divine power controlling my life's time table? I needed to realize if I was unique in this experience or was it happening to others as well, as surely logic and common sense would say that this is the case. In looking into this quest I discovered not only had other people had near death experiences but also other people had actually died. They had came back to life only to tell of the wonderful experience and the site and the people who had passed on previously from their life and how it all seemed so real. Is this the circle of life after death that we all hope for, the connection to eternal life?

Those moments, those fragments of a life in hiding that aren’t filled with fear, may soon be coming to an end as Ferrum Penna’s noose slowly tightens around their necks. As Luisa, Hunter and the gang sail the Mediterranean searching for answers, the answers they search for may be closing in on them. As two opposing forces both desperately search for the other, the only answer may be in accepting defeat and praying for victory. Desperately searching for a way to clear their names, Luisa, Hunter and the gang, test fate, by poking their noses in the lives of those who wish to remain hidden. Their hope and fear is that one of those lives will result in coming face to face with those behind the mask of Ferrum Penna. Will Luisa’s growing skill with the feeling be enough, or will it only prove to be too much?

She was the younger sister and always leaned on her big sister for guidance and support. When she got older she realized her sister, who she loved dearly wasn't always going to be around, and had to learn how to allow her voice to be heard and become independent. She was raised with a good upbringing from her parents, and sheltered from the evils of the world, but after persuading her parents to work during her teenage years, she experienced discrimination on her very first job, which truly scared her heart. This motivated her to do well in school, graduate from college, look for job opportunities, and move far away. Ananda soon realized after she moved that ignorant people lives everywhere. Her life is an emotional rollercoaster as she experiences childhood bullying, death of loved ones, lasting friendships, happiness, infidelity, forgiveness, health and safety, hardships, finding true love, harassment in the workplace and cherishing marriage and family. As she gets older she realizes that the ups and downs of life can be exhausting and sometimes a little ME time may be just what the doctor ordered. Ananda discovers that the power of prayer and having a voice to speak up is essential to her everyday life's journey, as she takes control of her destiny.

From the fraught, sexually charged groves of academia and elevators of corporate America, to the imagined diary entries of Brett Kavanaugh and the tragicomic travails of a woman swiping right on Tinder in order to dispense advice to men whose profiles she finds lacking, these stories offer a blend of humor and horror, victory and heartache, righteous anger and rueful recrimination. It’s a collection that’s sure to leave a mark on readers’ minds—and earn a place in their hearts.

Many of us are tired, frustrated, and stressed from being overworked at the office and at home, with no concrete plan for getting it all under control without compromising our well-being. In Procrastinate on Purpose, self-discipline strategist Rory Vaden presents a different approach for how to identify and focus on what's important. Instead of one more calendar, checklist, or gadget, he points out that what we really need is an understanding of the emotional reasons we fail to maximize our time - and he then reveals the five 'permissions' we can grant ourselves in order to get better results while creating more margin in our daily lives. In this paradigm-shifting book, you will discover how to- Identify your most significant priorities, in business and in life Create more time to do the things you love without sacrificing results Say no to the things that don't matter, and yes to the things that do Implement systems that give you more time tomorrow than you have today Gain control and inner peace by adopting the 'multiplier mindset' Informed by Southwestern Consulting's work with thousands of busy clients, and interspersed with Vaden's case studies that reveal the 'multiplier mindset' at work, this insightful, practical book will turn everything you thought you knew about time upside-down-and it will change the way you work and live. From the New York Timesbestselling author of Take the Stairs- A bold new way to get things done. 'Managing your time is a lot like managing your money. This first book in the series is your guide to learning the crucial thinking tools nobody ever taught you. Time and time again, great thinkers such as Charlie Munger and Warren Buffett have credited their success to mental models–representations of how something works that can scale onto other fields. Mastering a small number of mental models enables you to rapidly grasp new information, identify patterns others miss, and avoid the common mistakes that hold people back. The Great Mental Models: Volume 1, General Thinking Concepts shows you how making a few tiny changes in the way you think can deliver big results. Drawing on examples from history, business, art, and science, this book details nine of the most versatile, all-purpose mental models you can use right away to improve your decision making and productivity. This book will teach you how to: Avoid blind spots when looking at problems. Find non-obvious solutions. Anticipate and achieve desired outcomes. Play to your strengths, avoid your weaknesses, … and more. The Great Mental Models series demystifies once elusive concepts and illuminates rich knowledge that traditional education overlooks. This series is the most comprehensive and accessible guide on using mental models to better understand our world, solve problems, and gain an advantage.

Book excerpt: It's an unquestioned truth of modern life: we are starved for time. We tell ourselves we'd like to read more, get to the gym regularly, try new hobbies, and accomplish all kinds of goals. But then we give up because there just aren't enough hours to do it all. Or if we don't make excuses, we make sacrifices- taking time out from other things in order to fit it all in. There has to be a better way...and Laura Vanderkam has found one. After interviewing dozens of successful, happy people, she realized that they allocate their time differently than most of us. Instead of letting the daily grind crowd out the important stuff, they start by making sure there's time for the important stuff. When plans go wrong and they run out of time, only their lesser priorities suffer. Vanderkam shows that with a little examination and prioritizing, you'll find it is possible to sleep eight hours a night, exercise five days a week, take piano lessons, and write a novel without giving up quality time for work, family, and other things that really matter.

Book excerpt: From the New York Times bestselling authors of Sprint comes “a unique and engaging read about a proven habit framework [that] readers can apply to each day” (Insider, Best Books to Form New Habits). “If you want to achieve more (without going nuts), read this book.”—Charles Duhigg, author of The Power of Habit Nobody ever looked at an empty calendar and said, "The best way to spend this time is by cramming it full of meetings!" or got to work in the morning and thought, Today I'll spend hours on Facebook! Yet that's exactly what we do. Why? In a world where information refreshes endlessly and the workday feels like a race to react to other people's priorities faster, frazzled and distracted has become our default position. But what if the exhaustion of constant busyness wasn't mandatory? What if you could step off the hamster wheel and start taking control of your time and attention? That's what this book is about. As creators of Google Ventures' renowned "design sprint," Jake and John have helped hundreds of teams solve important problems by changing how they work. Building on the success of these sprints and their experience designing ubiquitous tech products from Gmail to YouTube, they spent years experimenting with their own habits and routines, looking for ways to help people optimize their energy, focus, and time. Now they've packaged the most effective tactics into a four-step daily framework that anyone can use to systematically design their days. Make Time is not a one-size-fits-all formula. Instead, it offers a customizable menu of bite-size tips and strategies that can be tailored to individual habits and lifestyles. Make Time isn't about productivity, or checking off more to-dos. Nor does it propose unrealistic solutions like throwing out your smartphone or swearing off social media. Making time isn't about radically overhauling your lifestyle; it's about making small shifts in your environment to liberate yourself from constant busyness and distraction. A must-read for anyone who has ever thought, If only there were more hours in the day..., Make Time will help you stop passively reacting to the demands of the modern world and start intentionally making time for the things that matter.

Book excerpt: We are obsessed with time. However hard we might try, it is almost impossible to spend even one day without the marker of a clock. But how much do we understand about time, and is it possible to retrain our brains and improve our relationship with it? Drawing on the latest research from the fields of psychology, neuroscience, and biology, and using original research on the way memory shapes our understanding of time, acclaimed writer and broadcaster Claudia Hammond delves into the mysteries of time perception. Along the way, she introduces us to an extraordinary array of colourful characters willing to go to great lengths in the interests of research, such as the French speleologist Michel, who spends two months in an ice cave in complete darkness. Time Warped shows us how to manage our time more efficiently, speed time up and slow it down at will, plan for the future with more accuracy, and, ultimately, use the warping of time to our own advantage.
