Book excerpt: A compassionate, shame-free guide for your darkest days “A one-of-a-kind book . . . to read for yourself or give to a struggling friend or loved one without the fear that depression and suicidal thoughts will be minimized, medicalized or over-spiritualized.”—Kay Warren, cofounder of Saddleback Church What happens when loving Jesus doesn’t cure you of depression, anxiety, or suicidal thoughts? You might be crushed by shame over your mental illness, only to be told by well-meaning Christians to “choose joy” and “pray more.” So you beg God to take away the pain, but nothing eases the ache inside. As darkness lingers and color drains from your world, you’re left wondering if God has abandoned you. You just want a way out. But there’s hope. In I Love Jesus, But I Want to Die, Sarah J. Robinson offers a healthy, practical, and shame-free guide for Christians struggling with mental illness. With unflinching honesty, Sarah shares her story of battling depression and fighting to stay alive despite toxic theology that made her afraid to seek help outside the church. Pairing her own story with scriptural insights, mental health research, and simple practices, Sarah helps you reconnect with the God who is present in our deepest anguish and discover that you are worth everything it takes to get better. Beautifully written and full of hard-won wisdom, I Love Jesus, But I Want to Die offers a path toward a rich, hope-filled life in Christ, even when healing doesn’t look like what you expect.

Book Synopsis Selected Musical Plays by Noël Coward: A Critical Anthology by : Noël Coward

This book was released on 2022-08-25 with total page 553 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although Noël Coward's work as playwright, songwriter and actor has long been celebrated, his contributions to the British musical have largely been forgotten. Selected Musical Plays by Noël Coward: A Critical Anthology rectifies this omission from the musical theatre landscape, demonstrating how Coward's adaptability, creativity, and myriad of styles is imitated in the incredible musicals he authored. From flop shows at Drury Lane with Mary Martin through to his Broadway hits with Elaine Stritch, this anthology chronicles the variety of styles written by Coward, from revue to musical comedy to operetta. The works in this volume provide a contemporary critical introduction that illustrates the breadth and depth of his work, and highlighting the diverse identities of the collaborators and performers with whom he worked. Though the style of these works varies, they are linked together by his creative thread, and his ability to craft barbed and witty observations of his social world. A timely portrait of Coward's oeuvre and its lasting influence on the wider world of the British musical, Selected Musical Plays by Noël Coward contains previously unpublished musical plays by a central figure in theatre history, collected together with critical apparatus for students, scholars, and fans.

Book Synopsis Understanding and Accepting Our Responsibilities As Men by : Talmadge S. Robinson
Download or read book Understanding and Accepting Our Responsibilities As Men written by Talmadge S. Robinson and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2012-09-06 with total page 112 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First of all I like to thank god for all he has done in me and my wife’s life, everything from keeping us when we were in sin, until now by giving us peace and joy in our hearts. I wish I could get the men to see that no matter how we may look at life it is going to all come down to the choices that we make in life as a man. Men I feel that it is time for us to start reaching out to the men of today because a lot of our young men and adult males are really confused about their responsibilities as men and god has placed it on my heart to show men that being a man and being a saved man is the desire that God has for our lives. But my first agenda is to ensure you that whatever your are going through at this point in your life; is to let you know that someone has already gone through it and is willing to help you get through your situation so you can have joy and peace in your life. But as men we don't like to talk about what we are going through in our life because we are taught from a young age that a man is not suppose to cry, show emotion or talk about what’s going on in their minds, because that is a sign of weakness. But I want my brothers to understand that giving your life to Christ and letting him know that you need his help is not a sign weakness, but the first sign of being the man that God wants you to be. So I like for all the men of the world especially my unsaved brother to take time out of their busy schedules to read this book and know in my heart that once you read this book (Understanding and Accepting Our Responsibilities as Men) your life will never be the same again. Because I know that if I can touch the men of today and show them that they can live there life in peace, joy and love and that it is your time to receive your blessings by taking on your responsibilities as a man by giving your life to Christ first, then I know that the future for our younger generation will be promising. Men we are in a time now when our sons, daughters, and wife need us to be the men that god intended for us to be, so it’s time for us to step up and take our rightful place as men in our families’ life most of all in gods kingdom. Brothers you may say why is he so concern about the men, the reason is because one I am a man and the other reason is the lord put someone in my life to show me the way and through their prayers and his grace and mercy he saved me so I can understand and explain to the men of the world that we need to lead and not just follow. The 2nd reason is I am so tired of losing so many of our young men because we are not teaching them the true meaning of being a man. (So men it’s time to stand up and take your rightful place at the head of your families be it single or married and help me reach other unsaved brothers.).

Download or read book Strength written by Dr. M.P. Washington and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2009-12-23 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This will not be like any other Devotional you have read, for this is not a book that you read in your intellect. It is a Chapter in the book of Life YOUR LIFE. God is summoning you to a higher place of understanding. We have the blessing of the Word of God that was written by men who were under the Anointing. They did not know at the time of their writing that they were writing what would become known as the Holy Bible. The Apostle Paul simply wrote love letters to those of whom God assigned him to minister to. He did not know that his letters would be baptized with the fire of God and save thousands of generations. His life, all the triumphs as well as the failures of his life became an open book, and so is yours. Kings, Shepherds, Judges, Warriors, even Gods enemy has a page in the book of life. Your story is life as well and it is being written by the angels. In reality the Book of Life has three parts, and they are The Old Testament, The New Testament and the Book that Jesus spoke of in heaven called the Lambs Book. This Book, The Lambs Book is the Third Book, and you are among the number characters in that book. Mal 3:16 Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name. Live Holy because the Angels are keeping notes. They are writing your every experience, your every failure, triumph, your every praise is being written at this very moment and one day your name will be called and the book will be opened and you will have to give an account for the things you have done. This devotional will be included in the Third Part. Read and Grow thereby. God is watching and the Angels are writing as the Saga of Holiness Continues.

Alexandra Gastone has a simple plan: graduate high school, get into Princeton, work for the CIA, and serve her great nation. She was told the plan back when her name was Milena Rokva, back before the real Alexandra and her family were killed in a car crash. Milena was trained to be a sleeper agent by Perun, a clandestine organization from her true homeland of Olissa. There, Milena learned everything she needed to infiltrate the life of CIA analyst Albert Gastone, Alexandra’s grandfather, and the ranks of America’s top intelligence agency. For seven years, “Alexandra” has been on standby and life’s been good. Grandpa Albert loves her, and her strategically chosen boyfriend, Grant, is amazing. But things are about to change. Perun no longer needs her at the CIA in five years’ time. They need her active now. Between her cover as a high school girl—juggling a homecoming dance, history reports, and an increasingly suspicious boyfriend—and her mission in this high-stakes spy game, the boundaries of her two lives are beginning to blur. Will she stay true to the country she barely remembers, or has her loyalty shattered along with her identity?
