Book excerpt: The impact of The Late Great Planet Earth cannot be overstated. The New York Times called it the "no. 1 non-fiction bestseller of the decade." For Christians and non-Christians of the 1970s, Hal Lindsey's blockbuster served as a wake-up call on events soon to come and events already unfolding -- all leading up to the greatest event of all: the return of Jesus Christ. The years since have confirmed Lindsey's insights into what biblical prophecy says about the times we live in. Whether you're a church-going believer or someone who wouldn't darken the door of a Christian institution, the Bible has much to tell you about the imminent future of this planet. In the midst of an out-of-control generation, it reveals a grand design that's unfolding exactly according to plan. The rebirth of Israel. The threat of war in the Middle East. An increase in natural catastrophes. The revival of Satanism and witchcraft. These and other signs, foreseen by prophets from Moses to Jesus, portend the coming of an antichrist . . . of a war which will bring humanity to the brink of destruction . . . and of incredible deliverance for a desperate, dying planet.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An “eminent scholar . . . shows how religious perspectives have played significant roles in major scientific discoveries and frameworks. . . . fascinating.” (Choice) Today, science and religion are the two major cultural entities on our planet that seek a coherent explanation for the structure, origins, and fate of the universe, and of humanity’s place within it, though their interpretation of evidence differs dramatically. Many scientists look at the known universe and conclude we are here by chance. The renowned astronomer and historian of science Owen Gingerich looks at the same evidence?along with the fact that the universe is comprehensible to our minds?and sees it as proof for the planning and intentions of a Creator-God. God’s Planet exposes the fallacy in thinking that science and religion can be kept apart. Gingerich frames his argument around three questions: Was Copernicus right, in dethroning Earth from its place at the center of the universe? Was Darwin right, in placing humans securely in an evolving animal kingdom? And was Hoyle right, in identifying physical constants in nature that seem singularly tuned to allow the existence of intelligent life on planet Earth? Using these episodes from the history of science, Gingerich demonstrates that cultural attitudes, including religious or antireligious beliefs, play a significant role in what passes as scientific understanding. The more rigorous science becomes over time, the more clearly God’s handiwork can be comprehended. “Owen Gingerich provides new facts and deeper understanding of [Copernicus, Darwin, Hoyle].” —Freeman Dyson, author of The Scientist as Rebel “[A] short, punchy, accessible, and thought-provoking book.” —Christian Century “A rich volume you’ll want to keep in your library.” —Forbes.com

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Chapter 3 The First Judgment: The World Prior To Adam There may have been many judgments upon the earth since its beginning millions or billions of years ago; however, the present commentary will deal only with the last tens of thousands of years of earth’s existence. In Genesis 1:2, the verses written by Moses (as author of the Genesis account) portray an earth that was veiled in darkness so that its form could not be discerned. The earth at that time was covered with water (ice) high above the mountain tops so that it gave the appearance of being a dark revolving sphere of frozen water (Table-2). God’s spirit is described as hovering over this revolving ball of water and brooding over the sad condition of this dark, void planet. God did not create a dark and dismal planet at the beginning, because God does not create darkness; in fact, darkness is incompatible with His existence and presence. So what had happened that God viewed (Gen. 1:2) such a decrepit state of the world? Does scripture attempt to explain this phenomenon, or does the inspired word of God remain silent on this issue? It was first proposed as a theory by the Scotsman Thomas Chalmers in the early 19th century that a “gap” in time existed between Genesis 1:1 and Genesis 1:2. This gap-in-time would encompass a “ruin-reconstruction theme” and the existence of pre-Adamic living beings. Obviously, a huge catastrophic event would have had to occur to produce this decadent state of the world. The “gap concept” was later popularized by mention in the margin notes of the Scofield Reference Bible.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book covers Pastor Yutzys thoughts regarding some theological issues from eternity past to eternity future; from the creation of the first heaven and earth (Genesis 1:1) to the new heaven and new earth (Revelation 2122). He rejects evolution but does not agree with the young earth creationists. In eschatology, he is premillennial but does not accept the doctrine of imminence. Today, we do not know the day of his coming but, he believes, if we know what we are to look for, we will know the time when it arrives. Christs coming will not be as a thief in the night to those who know what to look for regarding the rapture of the church. The last part of the book covers his perspective on Gods special purpose for the church, Israel, and the Gentiles. He gives his views on abortion, tattoos, cremation, the lake of fire, Gehenna, outer darkness, heaven, the New Jerusalem, and other topics relevant for the church today.

Book excerpt: The book explores the danger posed by Christian fundamentalism - a doctrine that is sweeping America. Leaders of the doctrine proclaim that God wants - even demands - that Planet Earth be destroyed in our generation. Adherents to this doctrine are said to constitute the fastest growing movement in Christianity today. Fundamentalist Evangelicals believe there will be catastrophic events on earth, some occurring already, including the turmoil in the Middle East, culminating in the Battle of Armageddon in which Christ will triumph and begin ruling the earth. At this point, they believe, non-believers will be destroyed, good Christians saved and any remaining Jews converted to Christianity. By praying for their Rapture and the End of Time, might they Force the Hand of God -- to bring it about? The book also includes CBS 60 Minutes program, Zion's Christian Soldiers and an interview with Jerry Falwell. Grace Halsell (1923-2000) served President Lyndon Johnson as his speech writer for three years. She covered both Korea and Vietnam as a journalist and wrote for newspapers in the U.S., South America, Europe, Russia, China, Japan and the Middle East. She wrote fourteen books among them the well-received Soul Sister, Prophecy and Politics: Militant Evangelists on the Road to Nuclear War, Journey to Jerusalem and The Illegals. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Earthquakes, floods, forest fires, famine, pestilence, disease, volcanos, tsunamis, terrorism, violence, economic uncertainty, racial and ethnic turmoil, war - What does it all mean? What is the earth coming to? People are afraid and wondering what the future might hold. It seems there is no security anymore. Upon finishing this book, the reader will have the inside story regarding what the future really holds for mankind. Some of life's most pressing questions will be answered such as: "What happens when you die?" "Will the inhabitants of this earth annihilate themselves?" "Will the earth end with a bang or a whimper?" "Is there any hope for a brighter future?" This book is written from a unique perspective - the perspective of a layman who has been fascinated with Biblical prophecy for years. All the points made are amply supported from Scripture alone. His desire is to share a different viewpoint which will awaken readers to study and think for themselves. In years gone by many people put their hope and confidence in God, but it seems now in the public square no one even thinks or cares about God. But, awake! God is still in control and He knows the end from the beginning! He created this earth, and He has not just left it to run on its own. He is intimately concerned about everything that happens, and He has grand plans for it. Read this book and find out what they are! The book recounts the great themes of the Bible - themes of faith, the nature of God and the Trinity, Christ in the Old Testament, Christ's atoning sacrifice on the cross and His resurrection bringing the promise of salvation to all mankind. Difficult subjects are addressed such as what happens when a person dies and the Antichrist, as well as the signs of the end of the world, the final judgments of God on unrepentant humanity as vividly portrayed in Revelation, and the last great battle when Jesus Christ is victorious over the Devil. See how the prophecies of Daniel, Ezekiel, Joel and Zechariah in the Old Testament dovetail perfectly with what Christ foretold and what John was shown in Revelation. The prophecies of the end of the age are more exciting than any thriller developed for TV or movies! Extremely difficult times are coming! This book will teach the reader how to survive the times of tribulation. Learn how a loving God will bring destruction upon the inhabitants of the earth. He has been pleading for millennia for His creatures to commit themselves to Him but they would not. Evil has increased to the point where God, in His mercy must also display His justice and vengeance and bring an end to it all. It is a "strange act" for this God of love, but He has no choice. The inhabitants of earth have not only been destroying themselves, but they have destroyed the earth. God must intervene according to His appointed time which is coming soon! He can no longer bear to see His creation suffering. The destruction on earth is not the end of the story. The world will not just be destroyed and forgotten. There is wonderful hope and good news! Evil will not have the last word! God will have it! King Jesus, the Messiah, is coming back to this earth again, not as a tiny, helpless baby, but as a warrior King. He will rule and His believers will reign with Him for eternity. There will be new heavens and a new earth more glorious than anyone could ever imagine. There will be no more death, sorrow, pain or crying. Are you prepared for His coming?
