Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most of us today would agree that the children of this new millennium are growing up in a world that is filled with pitfalls and treacherous paths that previous generations have not had to negotiate. How do we prepare these children to not only survive these paths but be victorious? Father, former youth pastor, and now church pastor, Kevin Brown shares the vision he has been given for teaching about and expecting from our children an involved, discipled way of life. He believes "The Christian faith depends upon the transfer of the gospel from one generation to the next." Rite of Passage in the Home and Church describes, not a "program," but instead a family's commitment to making a change in priorities that will impact them for generations to come. Pastor Kevin says, "The family has been fractured and splintered by the culture and this segregation of family by age has been brought to the church." At his home church, the family worships together. There is no children's church, no youth services...just the family of God worshiping together as indicated in Scripture. Kevin believes the only hope for our culture is the church and the only hope for the church is the restoration of the family. This book will be of value to you individually, but is designed for use in a church community for best results.

Book excerpt: This study explored the embodied teen experience of parent-teen conflict and argument using a hermeneutic-phenomenological approach. Teens self-identified as (a) living in a family with everyday conflict, (b) not seeing a psychologist or counselor, (c) not having been in any drug or alcohol treatment programs, (d) not knowing the researcher ahead of time, and (e) being between the ages of 13 to 19 at the time the interview took place. The following themes emerged: (a) feeling powerless, small, devalued, and oppressed; (b) experiencing irritation, frustration, hypocrisy, pettiness, and defiance; (c) wanting freedom and autonomy and the battle for control; and (d) needing safe space and me time. Each theme and the whole embodied essence of this experience were interpreted through teens' as well as the researcher's lenses. The interpretations provide insight for teens, parents, and parent educators that may help improve parent-teen relationships and provide strategies to use in the classroom setting.

Book excerpt: At last, a book of sage advice that will help frustrated parents reconnect with their teenager and keep that connection even in today's often-crazy world. The first step is simple: realizing that inside every teen resides two very different people-the regressed child and the emergent adult. The emergent adult is seen at school, on the playing field, in his first job, and in front of his friends' families. Unfortunately, his parents usually see only the regressed child-moody and defiant-and, if they're not on the lookout, they'll miss seeing the more agreeable, increasingly adult thinker in their midst. With ingenious strategies for coaxing the more attractive of the two teen personalities into the home, family psychologist Mike Riera gives new hope to beleaguered and harried parents. From moving from a "managing" to a "consulting" role in a teen's life, from working with a teen's uniquely exasperating sleep rhythms to having real conversations when only monosyllables have been previously possible, Staying Connected to Your Teenager demonstrates ways to bring out the best in a teen-and, consequently, in an entire family.

Book excerpt: The final installment in the hilarious, action-packed Babysitters Coven series that Refinery29 calls "candy for 90's girls and Gen Z'ers alike," featuring a coven of witchy babysitters sworn to protect the innocent and defend the world from an onslaught of evil--all before bedtime. Ever since Esme met Cassandra Heaven and discovered the truth about their shared legacy--that they're Sitters, supernaturally gifted teens tasked with protecting the innocent from evil--her life has been moving at 90 mph. During the day, she chases wild toddlers, and at night, she employs a different skill set for a different kind of demon. Like, literal ones. And sometimes it's almost fun. Her spells are getting better, her telekinesis is on point, and now that Esme's dad and her best friend Janis know the truth, she's no longer lying to the people she loves. She's also learned that there's a way to undo her mother's curse, and with the Synod out of the picture, she might even have a chance to do it. If she could just figure out how. But she can't, and even with her mom living at home again, Esme can't shake the feeling that she's failing. Throw in the fact that Pig is still gone, Esme's crush is MIA, and it's cold, slushy February, and she's in bummer city. Esme needs a serious pick-me-up, and Janis has a plan: a Galentine's stay-cation, with the Sitter friends Esme and Cassandra made at the Summit. Except things are getting weird in Spring River again. Esme and Cassandra just discovered a new band, and not in a good way: these guys reek of Red Magic, and their music sucks. Trouble is brewing, and if Esme's not careful, this show might be her last--and no one likes a one-hit wonder.

Book excerpt: “She is Significant” is based on a woman's life journey through puberty, adolescence, reproductive age, climacteric time, and the elderly years. This book is dedicated to entire womanhood because “SHE IS SIGNIFICANT”. The book will be written in 4 volumes. The first volume " I am Entering My Teens" is written keeping in mind the young adolescent girls who are entering or have entered their teens. These girls are completely unaware of the physical and mental changes in their bodies once they approach puberty, especially menstruation, vaginal hygiene, fitness, nutrition, etc. At the same time not only do they undergo a physical transformation, but their mind also changes. Some teens go into depression, some may land up in adolescent pregnancy, and there is no awareness of STDs or birth control methods. Teens might get violent at times and end up in substance abuse. All these topics are talked about in great depth, in simple, easy-to-understand language for teens. Sensible solutions and valuable suggestions have been provided at every point so that there is no delay in initiating self-management. This book will be a boon for parents, especially mothers, as not only the teens but their mothers also have to be very patient in handling their young girls. They should understand that being aggressive towards their children won't help at this stage of life.
