Book excerpt: This is Part II of the Treatise: ""Treatise on the Love of God"", an authoritative work which reflects perfectly the mind and heart of Francis de Sales as a great genius and a great saint. It contains twelve books. The first four give us a history, or rather explain the theory, of Divine love, its birth in the soul, its growth, its perfection, and its decay and annihilation; the fifth book shows that this love is twofold - the love of complacency and the love of benevolence; the sixth and seventh treat of affective love, which is practiced in prayer; the eight and ninth deal with effective love, that is, conformity to the will of God, and submission to His good pleasure. The last three resume what has preceded and teach how to apply practically the lessons taught therein.

Book Synopsis Sermons on the Canticle of Canticles: Volumes 1 & 2 by : Saint Bernard of Clairvaux
Download or read book Sermons on the Canticle of Canticles: Volumes 1 & 2 written by Saint Bernard of Clairvaux and published by Aeterna Press. This book was released on with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: So far as I am aware, this is the first attempt on the part of a Catholic to render St. Bernard’s famous Discourses on the Canticle of Canticles available for English readers. It is passing strange that it should be so; passing strange that the most important work, perhaps, of him who has been called by excellence the Doctor of Love and the Prince of Mystics, should be so neglected. But the Sermons on the Canticle are not singular in this respect. The same neglect has been extended to practically all the writings of the Melliduous Doctor, with great loss to spirituality. Book Synopsis Warning! Go to Hell! or Not? by : Terry Case
Download or read book Warning! Go to Hell! or Not? written by Terry Case and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2015-10-21 with total page 266 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book, guided by the Holy Spirit, was written to help you fully embrace Jesus, the Christ, as your Savior and your God. Christ means “the anointed one.” This book, along with God’s Word, is to help you gain a more complete knowledge, understanding, and application of the gospel in your life. This book is to help you gain a strong foundation for your life with God. Christians are to reach unbelievers and introduce them to Christ. My book is about understanding God’s Word to be a born-again believer (salvation). It is for building a strong foundation in the believer that has been in the church. It is for new believers to help build a Christian foundation for fuller understanding to stay focused on our process of Christianity to salvation when we physically die. It is laying out the needed information in a more logical way to get to heaven. God tells you to study to show yourself approved to him. A lot of study is needed. God did not lay it all out in 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 order. All need full understanding. All need spiritual maturity to enable full understanding. There is too much confusion in the church, and this will help. The next book will be bringing to light some of the confusion in the church. God’s Word is God’s Word and not always what you have been taught from too many different sources combined with wrong interpretation, leading to your output.
Book Synopsis Commentary on the Song of Songs by : Saint Bernard of Clairvaux
Download or read book Commentary on the Song of Songs written by Saint Bernard of Clairvaux and published by Jazzybee Verlag. This book was released on 2012 with total page 276 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bernard of Clairvaux (1090 – August 20, 1153) was a French abbot and the primary builder of the reforming Cistercian order. The Song of Songs is a book of the Hebrew Bible—one of the megillot (scrolls)—found in the last section of the Tanakh, known as the Ketuvim (or "Writings"). It is also known as Canticle of Canticles or simply Canticles from the Vulgate title Canticum Canticorum (Latin, "Song of Songs"). The protagonists of Song of Songs are a woman (identified in one verse as "the Shulamite") and a man, and the poem suggests movement from courtship to consummation. For instance, the man proclaims: "As the lily among thorns, so is my love among the daughters." The woman answers: "As the apple tree among the trees of the wood, so is my beloved among the sons. I sat down under his shadow with great delight, and his fruit was sweet to my taste."Additionally, the Song includes a chorus, the "daughters of Jerusalem." (from wikipedia.com) This book contains 43 beautiful sermons that St. Bernard wrote on this book. He interprets the song of songs in reference to the love between God and the soul. God is deeply in love with us, and wills our love in return. This love between the soul and God, which is the most intimate love possible, is expressed in the analogy of bride and bridegroom, where the intimacy of love is especially expressed.

Book excerpt: This book, focusing on the lives and writings of five women mystics, shows that, contrary to the modern idea that the supposed inferiority of women is an inheritance from Christianity, women have played a fundamental role in the Church. If the Church was able to pass beyond the collapse of medieval scholasticism and the errors of the Renaissance and Protestant Reformation, it was especially due to a succession of exceptional feminine personalities.

Book excerpt: Leaders – whether in business, government or the nonprofit sector – take risks but often without fully understanding risk at a strategic level. Expanding upon the well-known "ESG" risks, this book explains the key nonfinancial (environmental, social, governance and technological or ESGT) risks. For many leaders (including board members), taking risk without knowledge or preparation can lead to organizational crisis, scandal and value destruction. For those who are prepared, resilience follows and so does the ability to transform ESGT risk into opportunity and value for stakeholders. In this book, global governance, risk, ethics and cyber strategist, author and board member, Andrea Bonime-Blanc, shows practitioners at all levels how to effectively identify and manage their top ESGT risks to avoid crises and transform risk into sustainable long-term resilience and value. Gloom to Boom is a book for everyone – from the highest levels of leadership in an organization (the board, CEO and C-suite), to other senior leaders (the chief risk officer, CFO, general counsel, head of CSR and sustainability, CISO, CHRO), and midlevel leaders, students and folks simply interested in current affairs and the role and impact of strategic risk and opportunity on their lives.
