This book was released on 2021-03-16 with total page 390 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is the result of several years of study of the Apostle Paul's ministry in the Acts of the Apostles, his epistles to the local churches of Asia Minor, Rome, individuals (Timothy, Titus, and Philemon) indeed to the Body of Christ as a whole. Unique words of the King James Bible examine 199 words chosen by the KJB translators that quite often differentiate the ministry of Paul, the principle doctrines of access to God, adoption, dispensation, justification by faith, immortality, etc.The reader will find that many of our English words originated with William Tyndale, the first to translate the Word of God into the English language from the original Hebrew and Greek, words such as immortal, readiness, and ungodliness within the scope of this work. The reader will learn that the KJB translators themselves brought new words into the English language that the previous translator and translations did not have, words such as addicted, fidelity, novice, and thirty other words. The reader will also discover that besides the prescribed previous Bibles,(the translators were to use Tyndale's, Coverdale's, Matthews, Great, Geneva and Bishop's), that they also used the Roman Catholic Rheims New Testament, as evidenced by words such as apprehend, emulation, and theatre, as well as nine others within the scope of this work. This work is designed to serve as a reference book for the student of the Bible, primarily as a theological source, and secondarily as a historical reference of how some words came into the fabric of the English language we speak today.

Book excerpt: The King James Version has shaped the church, our worship, and our mother tongue for over 400 years. But what should we do with it today? The KJV beautifully rendered the Scriptures into the language of turn-of-the-seventeenth-century England. Even today the King James is the most widely read Bible in the United States. The rich cadence of its Elizabethan English is recognized even by non-Christians. But English has changed a great deal over the last 400 years—and in subtle ways that very few modern readers will recognize. In Authorized Mark L. Ward, Jr. shows what exclusive readers of the KJV are missing as they read God's word.#In their introduction to the King James Bible, the translators tell us that Christians must "heare CHRIST speaking unto them in their mother tongue." In Authorized Mark Ward builds a case for the KJV translators' view that English Bible translations should be readable by what they called "the very vulgar"—and what we would call "the man on the street."

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Why are there so many translations of the Bible, and what is the difference between them? Does it make a difference which version you read? Are they all the same? In Defense of the King James Bible presents a clear scriptural argument for the unadulterated Word of God, which is unique to the King James Version Bible. To prove the originality and uniqueness of this particular translation of Scripture, the author devotes a majority of the study to the comparison of verses from the King James Version Bible and other translations. It is startling to discover the omission and perversions of Scripture that change the meaning of verses and sound doctrine. Journey with the author as he examines the Bible and Spirit of Prophecy to gain a deeper understanding of God's Word and its importance in preparing us for Christ's Second Coming.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: David Norton re-edited the King James Bible for Cambridge, and this 2005 book arose from his intensive work on that project. Here he shows how the text of the most important Bible in the English language was made, and how, for better and for worse, it changed in the hands of printers and editors until, in 1769, it became the text we know today. Using evidence as diverse as the manuscript work of the original translators, and the results of extensive computer collation of electronically held texts, Norton has produced a scholarly edition of the King James Bible for the new century that will restore the authority of the 1611 translation. This book describes this fascinating background, explains Norton's editorial principles and provides substantial lists and tables of variant readings. It will be indispensable to scholars of the English Bible, literature, and publishing history.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The King James Bible was the result of an extraordinary effort over nearly a century to make many good English translations and turn them into what the translators called 'one principal good one, not justly to be excepted against'. David Norton traces the work of Tyndale and his successors, analysing the translation and revisions of two representative passages. His fascinating new account follows in detail the creation of the KJB, including attention to the translators' manuscript work. He also examines previously unknown evidence such as the diary of John Bois, the only man who made notes on the translation. At the centre of the book is a thorough discussion of the first edition. The latter part of the book traces the printing and textual history of the KJB and provides a concise account of its changing scholarly and literary reputations.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book speaks to the majesty of the King James Bible, in both its literary contribution to the English language and how it distinguishes itself from the previous English translations and those that have been attempted since. The authors address the doctrines of Inspiration and Preservation; and that by faith, believe that only the King James Bible is worthy of being called the inspired/preserved word of God in the English language. The authors cover the Process of Bible translation by committee and the rules by which they were provided as guidance by the king at the Hampton Court conference. Specifically, the doctrinal impact of the Third Rule whereby the translators were to keep the old Ecclesiastical words such as "Church" not to be translated as "Congregation." Other words to be used were "Charity" in addition to "Love"; "Baptisms," as well as "Washings"; and the distinction between "Covenant" and "Testament" is clearly seen in the context where the words are used. In addition to the doctrinal import, there is considerable attention given to the printing technology of the fourteenth to sixteenth centuries and a dissertation on the artwork of the first edition, printed in 1611. The practical results of preaching the King James Bible in places like the Philippines and other foreign lands are presented with plentiful illustrations and examples. Lastly, the authors have included the Epistle Dedicatory and Translators to the Reader that were provided in earlier editions of the King James Bible, but sadly, seldom printed in the newer editions. 2

In Reading the Bible Supernaturally, best-selling author John Piper teaches us how to read the Bible in light of its divine author. In doing so, he highlights the Bible's unique ability to reveal God to humanity in a way that informs our minds, transforms our hearts, and ignites our love. With insights into the biblical text drawn from decades of experience studying, preaching, and teaching Scripture, Piper helps us experience the transformative power of God's Word—a power that extends beyond the mere words on the page. Ultimately, Piper shows us that in the seemingly ordinary act of reading the Bible, something supernatural happens: we encounter the living God.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This handbook offers an extensive crosslinguistic and cross-theoretical survey of polysynthetic languages, in which single multi-morpheme verb forms can express what would be whole sentences in English. These languages and the problems they raise for linguistic analyses have long featured prominently in language descriptions, and yet the essence of polysynthesis remains under discussion, right down to whether it delineates a distinct, coherent type, rather than an assortment of frequently co-occurring traits. Chapters in the first part of the handbook relate polysynthesis to other issues central to linguistics, such as complexity, the definition of the word, the nature of the lexicon, idiomaticity, and to typological features such as argument structure and head marking. Part two contains areal studies of those geographical regions of the world where polysynthesis is particularly common, such as the Arctic and Sub-Arctic and northern Australia. The third part examines diachronic topics such as language contact and language obsolence, while part four looks at acquisition issues in different polysynthetic languages. Finally, part five contains detailed grammatical descriptions of over twenty languages which have been characterized as polysynthetic, with special attention given to the presence or absence of potentially criterial features.
