Book Synopsis Reproduction in the Dog a Tropical Approach by : Jovi R. Otite
Download or read book Reproduction in the Dog a Tropical Approach written by Jovi R. Otite and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2015-10-30 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dog breeding has gained tremendous awareness over the last decade. In some countries it is a source of employment for many and a means of poverty alleviation. The canine industry is growing tremendously and dogs are transported across borders all year round. As a result of this fast growing industry, the treatment given to dogs keeps improving as mans awareness increases. However, majority of the literature available to dog breeders and enthusiasts are of temperate origin and as a result, information available to the tropical breeder is limited. Raising dogs in the tropics is different from the temperate regions. The outcome of inadequate information affects the management of our canine friends. This affects the reproductive potential of dogs raised in the tropics. The environment which we give our dogs reflects on the dogs ability to exhibit its full genetic makeup. Hence, dogs might appear sterile, obese, underweight, or malnourished depending on its environment. This book, Reproduction in the Dog: A Tropical Approach, addresses the problems associated with dog breeding in the tropics and gives authentic information to the breeder, veterinarian, animal scientist or dog enthusiast. It covers all the reader needs to know about breeding, reproduction, artificial insemination, semen collection, handling and storage, cloning, feed composition, housing, care of dogs and lots more.

This book was released on 2008-04-15 with total page 432 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Introduction to Veterinary and Comparative Forensic Medicine is a ground-breaking book in an emerging new speciality. It reflects the increasing demand for expert opinion by veterinarians and others in courts of law and elsewhere on such matters as: · wildlife conservation, · welfare of, and alleged cruelty to, animals, · insurance, certification and malpractice · the identification of live and dead species or their derivatives. It also discusses and analyses current concern over possible links between domestic violence and abuse of animals. Throughout the book the emphasis is on the need for a systematic and thorough approach to forensic work. A particular feature is practical advice, with protocols on dealing with common problems, together with case studies, various appendices and an extensive bibliography. A vital reference for members of the veterinary profession, lawyers, enforcement bodies and welfare and conservation organisations. The comparative aspects provide an important source of information for those working in human forensic medicine and the biological sciences.

Book Synopsis Mastering Scientific and Medical Writing by : Silvia M. Rogers
Download or read book Mastering Scientific and Medical Writing written by Silvia M. Rogers and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2007-01-20 with total page 153 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “If any man wish to write in a clear style, let him frst be clear in his thoughts. ” Johann Wolfgang von Goethe You may ask why anyone would want to write yet another book about scientifc writing. Tere are many books on the subject, some more useful than others, and the abundance of literature on this topic may confuse rather than guide. I felt that this book was necessary for several reasons. During the past years, I have learnt much about the needs of scientifc communicators, both through my personal experience as a pharmacologist and, later, through teaching scientifc writing at universities, pharmaceutical companies, and other institutions. In today’s busy world, guidance on scientifc writing must be focused and to the point. Our constraints no longer permit the ti- consuming search for the “correct” word or formulation. Moreover, the speed by which we produce a manuscript has become increasingly important, be it in academia or the pharmaceutical industry. Scientists ofen fnd it difcult to accept that their professional success essentially depends on their skill and efciency to communicate their research results. Without any doubt, the rapid exchange of pertinent information is critical to scientifc advancement and should therefore be regarded with due respect. A second, perhaps even more important reason for writing this book is my personal concern for everyone challenged to write high-quality texts in a language that is not his or her native tongue.
